True story. Im born and raised in Detroit. I come from a very larger family. My father was a carpenter. He did work all-around the state for all kinds of famous musicians and people who had high standing in their fields. I remember my family was good friends with levi stubbs and his family. We used to often visit him and his family. We also are good friends with members of the Four Tops and have done all types of work on their houses and properties. This Era of music was and continues to be a staple of who I Am and where I came from. (TIMELESS)

I'll never forget when all the Motown groups finally made it to South Texas with the Four Tops, The Supremes and the Temptations. My white mind was blown away!! And I've seen all of them in person over the years and I still get teary eyed at how great they were and the bullshit they had to put up with back then, white and black cafes, white and black hotels ect. When I look back on that shit I get mad. Blacks today will never see what I saw when I was a kid.
+austin teutsch Great testimony. I would have loved to have seen those groups in person. That was some great music back then. When I hear Motown music today, it still sounds good. You had great writers, producers, arrangers, singers, musicians--WOW.
Hello Austin. I would have loved to have seen those groups on person myself. Our lost. All that matters to me and many others like me is what kind of heart a person has. Take care.
+austin teutsch When I was only 11 my brother in law as a hawaian brought me to Detroit for watching the Tops in a club this time. At this time I didn't understand why he tried always to "hide" me in the special audiance - there was a small reason: I'm white. Since 1964 I collect without stopping Motown records and my part for to get the Marvelettes lately inducted into the Hall of Fame was a big campagne to write through the president of the HoF letters over letters as a tribute to all Motown singstars like the Tops. There will come the day I will see all of my favorites again - they will sing for me and all of you too...:-) I never regret to stay more than 50 years now strong and consequent on the side of the black americans and help to save their musical heritage. This was never a question of racism or not - even for me as a german policeman only the music of Motown and its soul in it counted. It leads and protected my way of life and let me be always an openminded and helpful guy to everyone, who get in touch with me. How empty my life would be without the Tops, Temps, Stevie, Marvelettes, Martha and her Vandellas, David, Eddie, Jimmy, Marvin, Smokey and the Funk Brothers? I don't want to imaginate...

Gene Hesser semper fi love the music
Gene Hesser .. you got a good heart and good, great taste in music
73 years old. White. And I loved these guys. I loved Motown. Sooooo talented. My god we were so lucky to have music like this. Nothing today can compare
(TIMELESS)
This is one of the greatest songs ever.
Amen ❤
no dude the greatest hands down.
No doubt. One of the greatest.
Motown:
There's Marvin, then The Four Tops.
damn right it is
#390 on billboard's list of the 500 songs of all time . THUMBS UP
It's January 2023..I've been listening to this song my entire life! Born in 1967 & grew up listening to Motown thanks to my parents. I just LOVE this song, can listen to it over & over again...They all look like they are having a good time singing this & it just makes even better. Thanks for posting!
Born in 1953..my parents..my parents..MY PARENTS!! This was my song as a KID!

SOMEBODY, ANYBODY, tell me where this great music went???????????????????????????

Why did it go from that to this stuff now WOW
Gone with the wind
Los Angeles, if my Motown history is correct.
This man has a voice like an angel!
RIP Levi!
Truth Indeed
Levi Stubbs - RIP. Never went solo because he said he never would. What a voice!!
Hey Chrissy, totally agree I could watch him all day lol, hope you are doing ok xx
Give me that Motown sound all day.....love it
Levi had such a powerful voice it always sounded like he was preaching to us . Greatest era of music
amen to the voice
Agree. I live south of Detroit so Motown is close to my heart
True indeed
I always love j 5, osmonds, and supremes and I’m 12 years old but I’m adding the tops to my list
I believe my body is young but my soul is wise and looking for the questions of humanity
I don’t think people truly recognize that the Andantes are hitting extremely high notes and octaves during the chorus. This song has elements of Opera and it gives me chills.
Levi was so handsome. The best Motown group in my opinion. RIP Mr Stubbs.
IloveLebod
What a huge difference with today's appearance of the singers ! Sooo much better and respectable looking back then.
The clothes, the dance, the song pure magic!!!!!
A timeless classic from the fantastic Four Tops, who else is still listening in 2020.
I'm listening in the middle of 2021 BABY I NEED YOUR LOVIN

Proud to say I was born and raised in Detroit ! 50's and 60's were magical times for the music created 10 miles from my home!!
Levi Stubbs, the REAL thing, the whole package! Listening & loving this today..11/09/19 ❤️❤️❤️ RIP Mr Levi Stubbs!
Love the ‘Four Tops’ forever! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
+austin teutsch You're so fortunate to have experienced that!
+austin teutsch Great testimony. I would have loved to have seen those groups in person. That was some great music back then. When I hear Motown music today, it still sounds good. You had great writers, producers, arrangers, singers, musicians--WOW.
+Hasa Ke Thanks, my friend. It was great time for ALL artists. There was very little musical racism back then.
Hello Austin. I would have loved to have seen those groups on person myself. Our lost. All that matters to me and many others like me is what kind of heart a person has. Take care.
+austin teutsch
When I was only 11 my brother in law as a hawaian brought me to Detroit for watching the Tops in a club this time.
There will come the day I will see all of my favorites again - they will sing for me and all of you too...:-)
I never regret to stay more than 50 years now strong and consequent on the side of the black americans and help to save their musical heritage.
Love these boys, such style, charisma and talent. Oh and the amazing voice of the great Levi Stubbs. Magic era of music will never be matched again.
1:47 onward gives me chills, it's so good. The bluesy gospel-inspired piano, the surging Detroit Orchestra strings, the steady background harmony, and Levi Stubbs's soulful vocals. This song is a fantastic work of art.
Nielka k, not sure who wrote this great song. Sure they should be praised as much.
You nailed it regarding 1:47 onward. It's just so very very incredible
This is so soothing to the soul squirt this in my veins.
Tamla motown is in my veins it will never die
How true!
RIP Duke Fakir. I just heard the sad news about your passing. You were the last surviving member.
A voice from heaven like no other - flawless control...heartfelt soft, magnificently dramatic superbly soaring and truly powerful - all at once.
...yes, perfect.
I couldn't have said it better.:o)
amen
there will never be another levi stubbs!! just wonderful!!
I love it/you Tim!
One of the most beautiful songs in the world, survives 60s 70s 80s 90s 2000s and sounds still fresh and groovy.
It is!
Levi Stubbs was good looking dude, and a beautiful singer , so romantic ..
No matter how grumpy I am, every time I listen to this song I feel good again.
Jose Rodrigues best description I've heard of this great song. does the same for me. Keith clapham
The classics will never die, they will live until eternity.
I absolutely love this song baby I need your loving. And I love the four tops. This beautiful amazing song still rocks in 2021 and forever. I'm a fan.
one of the greatest songs ever sung by the greatest group led by Levi, loyal and true to his loving friends forever
in a crazy world of mendacity, LS's star shines brightly
Levi stubbs one of the greatest voices ever
The best ever!!RIP.
No argument here.
Holland-Dozier-Holland wrote songs for him half a decibel
higher than his voice to sound more pleading... incredible!
Sho nuff was.
Levi Stubbs was the LIONS voice of Motown.
Listening to this July 2023. This music never gets old. I love it!
This man was off the charts..... great !!!
1966 was the zenith of Motown, Soul and Rock'n Roll! It was a great time to be in high school! Everyday there was some new groovy tune...Yeah Baby!
Never will music be the same. Glad I grew up during these times. Great music from great singers.
These men are pure awesomeness! This world would not be the same without their voices.
RIP Abdul "Duke" Fakir. Last of the founding members of the group
Wonderful...life is so good when you hear the Four Tops
Have listened to this song quite a few times and Levi's voice never fails to give me chills. This is beautiful art that i am fortunate enough to hear. 🙏
I listen 2 this song every nite I love it and all the other 4 tops songs
I am sure they didn’t know at the time that they would be timeless. ❤️💯❤️
Saw them on my prom night in 1969. almost 50 years later, I still remember it
Smooth and class..Pants not falling off, no piercings or tattoos and they can sing without many obscenities..This is, was and always will be the greatest music!
Vicci Lucas

@@angelahaskamp1997 truth sometimes hurt !! get over it
Nearly two and half minutes of pure joy and perfection in a song , it will endure forever especially with Levi Stubbs at the helm !
A masterpiece, and one of the best songs I have ever heard. It has followed me since the sixties.
Everything is right, and it has a beautiful flow and rhythm that goes straight to the heart and my feelings❤️
The style and performance of the guys from Detroit 🇺🇸 is a feast for my eyes.
Still listenin 2024!!!
You can't beat Motown music that was proper music compared to the music of today. The 1950's and 60,s were the best. Brings back a lot of memories.
Love this group. They sing like Angel's, the words say what your heart feels
I sure do miss the 70s and 80s. The music🎧 today is not even the same. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite song ?
@@derekfovargue6676 I agree with you
The wonderful Levi Stubbs knew how to get the words across so beautifully, soulfully. When he sings the line "...Because I'm so lonely..." gets me every time...
Wish this style came back into vogue again today. Three if these four tops have now passed away. Thank you for your music and class, gentlemen, and Rest In Peace.
It's one of those songs you never get tired of. It sounds like youre listening to it for the first time each time. Some magical quality about it. All of it.
Amazing lead, back up vocals spectacular, arrangement a magical wall of sound
