- How to Sum per Month in Excel and add more criteria like Product, Customer etc | Sumifs function
In this Excel video tutorial, let's learn how to Sum per month in an Excel spreadsheet for example. Let's learn how to sum per month and even use one more criterion such as product or customer. How to sum if the condition is met in Excel.
so that we can use the sum formula in Excel or the sum function in Excel to add judiciously and add only what we need, we can use the sum formula in Excel or the sum function with a criteria.
The SUMIF function sums the values in a range that meet a criteria you specify.
In this practical example of Excel, let's add up by months, that is, how much was sold in each of the months, how much was sold in the month of January, February, March, April, and so on. Excel as for example the name of the product or the name of the customer.
so that we can sum per months we first need to have the months extracted from the dates that is we will need to extract only the month from a complete date and for that we can use the text function or even the text function in Excel spreadsheet.
the text formula allows us to extract from a complete date just the day or just the month or just the year and in this way we manage to have the criteria we need to use in the sum if function which is the criterion of the month.

Very useful video. I have benefited a lot. May Allah reward you well Ameen Ya Allah
Very Helpful especially in dealing with the dates. Thanks
After watching 4 confusing videos, this is the BEST ONE!!!! Thanks soooooooo much
Thank you. Great to hear that! 🙏👍
excellent
How would I for example calculate the cost of staff travelling & hotel costs, broken down by their names and then the month? Is the principle the same?
Do you know how to, say, if I had multiple figures in a Month? Some Pluss and some Minus, how can I have two separate columns with the total of the minus and a total of the positive?
what to do when we have more columns of date..
hi. may i know what if i want the criteria range to include the year as well? for example for feb 2022 and march 2023 what are the total $?
Refer to the video at 2:44 - instead of "mmm" you should type "mmm"&" "&"yyyy" then it will show the year as well in the criteria range.
@@gtiw7 thanks for the reply. okay ill try it later!
Can't we use text function directly in the formula i.o. helper column~?
Can you just go to cell format, custom and change the date format to mmm? I think it'd be much faster
I have followed all of these steps perfectly and all I return is a zero.
I too get zero.
what to do? Have you solved?
How to solve by placing the product in place of the month and the product in the place of the month?
Please help
If I wanted to calculate data for a particular product twice a month (1st and the 15th), what other criteria can I add?
How do I accomplish that without adding the column for month?
Thank you sooooo, sooooo much. I spent 2 hrs last night trying to work this out and this morning, your's was the first video I looked at and it worked immediately. Thank you so much for sharing you knowledge. I've subscribed too :)
Ryan, thanks for the feedback. Glad it was useful! 🙏👍 Now, instead of spending 2 hours, you will only spend 5 minutes. SUMIF is the best

How to make formula using excel below 50000 =250 , above 50000=400
Use if formula, or ifs, ifs(A1"50000","400"
Thanks great video 🎉
Thank you it solved the issue
You deserve an award for this. Thank you!
It was nice, but when year change how get specific year data?
In the same way that we have a column in our table with the months of each of the dates, we also need to have a column in our table that extracts the year from the dates (you can use "YYY"). Now, we can use one more criteria in the SUMIFS function, in this case, the year.
Anyhow, I gonna make a video about this subject. Add up values per Days, Months and Years.
Thanks
