I actually loved to see the show when I was a kd. It was so amusing seeing so many different celebrities on every contest. The fact that I knew English long before I went to school pretty much helped.
I've tinkered with the game and it lets you play until you win a car and you only get to pick one key and it doesn't change so after 5 games you are sure to 'win' the car.
I didn't find this game to be that horrible. I thought it was great, even. Though I'm not sure if I feel that way because I love the show it was based on, or because it looked good in comparison to NES Double Dare & Fun House.
Well, I would give the game a better rating, but as you can tell by my avatar, that'd be because I love game shows. I know Wheel of Fortune (my favorite), Jeopardy!, Family Feud, Concentration and even Double Dare and American Gladiators made the NES. Gametek, who made all of those games, announced The Price is Right and Super Password for the NES, but neither was released. Anyway, I'll be looking forward to more game show game reviews from you.
The programming was wrong, they were thinking "Tic Tac Dough", over the Stalemate Scenario. In Hollywood Squares, if a stalemate happened, the one who gets 5 boxes won the round. There's another FAIL for your review.
Wait Aqua, you also for got the there's the inserting the game cart into the NES, and before that buying the awful game at the store; and after its all said and done there is the pissed off anger and regret that you wasted your money on Hollywood squares.
actually, i think that those celebrities are fictional. i think that they should have improved the graphics, if nothing else. i think that they should have released the game on the genesis or snes. this versions could have been much better. but those nintendo celebrities was a cool idea, i must admit ;)
A quickie? Interesting! But for a game like this, I have to say, that's all it deserves - if even that much! Wow, that's...horrendous. Personally, I like the show - those celebs DO sometimes make interesting joke answers. Especially when like, the Muppets or something show up. XD Dammit, Miss Piggy. How DO you keep me laughing after so many years? Anyway. A short review for a REALLY short, terrible game. Well done? As always, most definitely! You get 5 stars! And this game gets, like, -5 stars.
What Nintendo character is on the bottom right corner @ 2:59?
The show was renamed "Celebrity Squares" over here, obviously as theres no Hollywood here, Pinewood Squares dosn't have quite the same ring to it ^_^

A Stalemate do you mean like if it ends in Cat's game.I heard that term somewhere.
What was the game that showed first during the intro?
This NES game was actually done by RARE, the makers of Killer Instinct.
Hey don't forget "GoldenEye 007" and "Perfect Dark" for the N64, those are some of RareWare's best games ever.
I think you're right. O_O. Yes, it's even shorter than the Color a Dinosaur review! Granted, not by much, but still.
Nice review Aqualung!

One of the WORST games in NES History....BBBBOOORRRING>>>about as much appeal as AIDS
The United States.
Pretty awful game... Reminds me vaguely of Jeopardy for the NES.
Lame excuse for a game, nice review
Lmao the host looks like Trump
what a lame game
