It's honestly one of the best tug of war/auto-battlers ever made. And it's gotten so much more traction and players in the last few weeks thanks to so many youtubers. You included.
Obsessed with game tbh. Gives me that feel of old RTS games but not needing the APM that normal ones do. Easy to get into as well, with a lot of depth. Super fun
This is off-topic but I don't know where else to put it. Speaking of indie games I'd love to see you review Tactical Breach Wizards. I think it's right up your alley.
LOL! Your AI opponent's portrait in the video is so on point it seems chosen on purpose. The perfect "Bot" counterpart to your usual human skull avatar, down to black round ear pieces mirroring your picture's headphones. Thanks for your videos!
I’ve been playing this since the start of EA, it’s a fricking steal at 10 bucks. Really a ton of depth to the strategy involved here. Highly recommend this game.
I've having a lot of fun with this for the past few months though, I will say, the single player aspect is not enough to carry it if that's all someone is interested in. Ton of fun for the multiplayer (1v1, 2v2 and 4ffa)
Imo the problem is that single player even got worse with the 1.0 release. I like to play a game or two when waiting for meetings and such, but without having to forfeit the match to a real player. In all my games so far, the AI (Insane) has never flanked me once, whereas it was happening constantly in the beta and this might be bias speaking, but i also got the feeling that it counters less and instead tries to force certain builds that do a certain thing well (say Arclight/Vulcan/Fire Badger). I mean, it teaches you how to counter them, but it doesn't give you situations where you have to react to it yourself. I suppose that was done to accomodate new players who want to climb through the tutorial stage quickly, but from a standpoint of wanting to play it purely single player, it is absolutely not worth it, even at 10 bucks, imo. That all being said, i think it bears repeating that the multiplayer part is great and the game is pretty great overall.
The game looks suprisingly deep for an autobattler. I had the pleasure of watching the Spiffingbrit invite some Strategy vets in a series of matches and it looked quite fun!
My friend recommended it to me because I was a fan of Starcraft and granted, it doesn't play the same, but I feel at home with it all the same for some reason. I only played a few games against the BOTs to get my feet wet and learn to properly play. So far, I've been obliterating Normal with ease and have a fondness for the Overlord ship. I'm currently struggling to properly position my units for maximum efficiency. Bet PvP is wild.
one of my favorite games, not for everyone but i find it fun. And if you want it, I have had a few perfect runs on survival insane IV if you want some pointers for that mode
I've been playing this for several months, developers are always adding new units or items, lots of cool ways to make each match different. It's very easy to learn, but hard to master.
Bought this like a year ago in EA. If you like mechs and auto-battlers, it's pretty fun. I could have sworn it was going to be F2P when it released. At least when I purchased it in EA that's what the devs stated back then.
Nice video. Thanks for putting this on my radar! This looks interesting. As an "autobattler" of sorts, some of the details surprised me. ...and now an associated tangent takes over: My concern, which exists for every game like this, is the reliance on company servers - and that it's primarily a multiplayer game. I've written about this many times before, but I think part of the design document for most projects should be making them able to be a good experience when played unconnected and solo. Recently (relatively so), this sentiment has often been in conjunction with "end of life" for products, rather than them just... disappearing. Global legal systems have almost wholly dropped the ball when it comes to consumer rights (and business accountability) in the digital age (a topic which spans across mediums).
The robots don't do it for me, but the game itself is pretty cool. There used to be this game called Spellcraft that was like an auto-battler, but with a little bit of micro, and I hope there will be another attempt like it.
I like it. Played a solid 40 hours. But the wc3 mod direct strike is simply better in my opinion. But then that is team based so. Yeah more hassle too.
Interesting that you're covering this given that it's 98% a multiplayer game. I played a bunch of it in EA, but it's just not the game for me. It's pretty slow and the option space is so big, so you're spending like 15-20 minutes per game and a lot of it comes down to rock paper scissors style luck over the last couple of rounds since your first 8 minutes are basically setup.
So I've got just under 500 hours in Mechabellum and before the 1.0 release was top 500 1v1 and top 100 2v2. Anyway I just mention that so I can state with certainly that there is almost no luck involved in this game. Yes, you can get screwed by free unit drops every few rounds but if you unlock a unit then it can't be in the free units. So if you play well and "ban" your counters from the free picks then it's almost all skill/game knowledge.
This comment shows you havent played much Mechabellum. There is practically zero luck involved in that game. It is very skill based, that is the charm of it.
@@MrHighRaw I've made top 1000 as well in EA. You're confusing luck and RNG, which is a type of luck. The luck I'm talking about is like build orders in an RTS game. The coinflip of where a win/loss of a round comes down to if someone put a unit on the left or right side. Or the your opponent having 3+ viable options and the counter to all of them being different. In an RTS, though, the luck is balanced out for the most part because there are hundreds of other decisions you're making and any luck usually gets factored out in the wash. In Mechabellum, however, that luck is concentrated over a couple of decisions over a couple of rounds. I would regularly beat players in the top 100 and then lose to players with 300 less MMR b/c of this kind of luck, and at the end of the day the wins and losses were both unsatisfying and I quit playing.
Does the devs team know that you review games after 100% completion? It’s rare for games nowadays not having Steam achievements upon full release. And that’s the only reason I do not buy this game, unless they release achievements.
He also mostly reviews single player games. This isn't a review though, it's a check out. It's way shorter than his full review. Put the game on my radar though, as I hadn't heard of it.

I have almost 200 hours played from the Early Access, easily my favorite autobattler!

I looked for his review of it in the past, but nothing came up. I heard good things about it, and I watched some clips before. It looks fun.

Yeah its a multiplayer game with single player tacked on for when you want a break from 1v1.

Oh thanks for covering this. I've been obsessed since it's been released. More players incoming!

Omg I just got this game 2 days ago and I'm in love! Absolutely fantastic!!
Its a great game. So well designed. Strikes that great balance between easy to grasp but hard to master.

I already have 450h on this one, but i will gladly listen what you have to say on it haha
Loved this since its launch hyped to see ya cover it. Great game with friends
Your audio sounds great in this video ...wasn't a problem before but it seems like it improved
Absolutely love this game, big tournament today to see who can play for the $1000 tournament

Thanks for the video. This was a fist hear for me. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.

dammit man you are a machine!... Do you have a time turner? I can't see any other way you could do all of these videos. :D
Legit, video a day

Now this is good.
Ooooh this one looks coool !!
300 hours played and still play on the daily, so good.
Comment for the Al Gore Rhythm.

Great game, been grinding it for 3 months now already.

I hope it starts a genre thing, like PUBG did with battle royales or Tarkov with looter shooters
@noon6 the genre already exists for like a decade or two
fantastic game
This game is is amazing and for $10 on sale is a no brainer.
This game is a lot of fun if this seems fun to you guys check it out for sure

Does it have a demo? Looks interesting.
Not that Im aware of
coming up on 200 hours played. i recommend
I discovered a game that looks really fun called Phantom Brigade, have you ever made a video about this game?
I lOVED Phantom Brigade!!! Loved the timeline/planning aspect and of course - mechs!!!
@@transposestudios I'd be thinking of buying it, can you tell me how long the game lasts?
I can always count on you to give me the skinny on a game as our tastes are similar. Think this one is a pass for me.
Is this game worth for the PvE part (if any)?
I'm not a huge fan of PvP games, specially 1v1
would be amazing on an iPad
Looks good
free comment.
Just picked it up. I love Auto Chess type games so this was an easy buy.
Will you possibly be reviewing Silent Hill 2
Probably not
@@MortismalGaming either way, I appreciate your time thank you

Your weird hate for auto-battlers is surprising. I'm glad you like this one at least.
Not enjoying a genre is not the same as hating it.
is it like direct strike in SC2 custom game?
yes, it's pretty much its copy with additional tweaks here and there
