AiAi was pretty much untouchable on day 1. Ridiculous play. I don't think he dropped even a single game. Really hope we'll see more of him at international tournaments.
Welp, no wonder Daigo lost. Ai Ai is really good. Adjusted really fast even with a character switch.

I'm not a super competitive player...yet. But I've been messing around with juri since when I got into sf4 in arcade edition I like the way she plays more than anyone else in the cast, very unique. And ai is a unique player, so he makes it work.

It shouldn't be a shock that someone like aiai does so well here. There are so many Japanese players good enough to do it not just like him and they don't travel to American majors so we don't play them. Aiai was always one of my favorite players to watch in YT for a long time and now he is in evo. More players of other characters like him have to come out to show us there are more players in Japan aside from Daigo, Bonchan, Fuudo, etc. I really want to see him make it to the final match and I will be routing for him too.
Exactly. So many players around the world even who haven't played overseas majors. AiAi as you know is the top juri player in Japan, I'm not sure prised one bit that he is doing successful at all.

British Tea he doesn't come from nowhere it's one of the best Juri from Japan xD with yk and Yossan (he became a lot better this day)
Kyousa I haven't really seen him in major tournaments. I heard that he is one of the best Juri players in Japan but I've never seen him play until now.
British Tea He's the #5 Juri in Japanese Arcades. So that kinda invalidates the "Ai Ai came from nowhere " thing a bit. He just doesn't travel outside Japan is a more correct term. Same thing with Pepedai. Before TGS nobody outside people who frequent the japanese scene knew him.
I think it's gonna be Him or Nemo who wins this by the way. I really wanted to see Hagejin on EVO though...
thenewsamken I believe that both "came out from nowhere" and "he just doesn't travel outside of Japan" are both valid terms. I'm sure most people don't keep track of the top players in the Japanese arcades so certain people like Ai Ai would look like he came out of nowhere however, there are others who do already know about him. I think both terms fit, in my opinion. I don't actually know to keep track of who's who in the Japanese arcades but I certainly need to find a way to do that for next year's EVO.

My poor friend, if you think this way you'd be shocked as fuXX to see how many "Aiai" there are in Japan that you probably never heard off, yet play since Vanilla. I can give you at least 50 to 100 names, just right now without thinking too much, I will not due to space limitation, but I guess it is the time to make your own research and stop reading ONLY EH. They are quite clueless when it comes to this area of expertise. At least SRK does cover much more japanese tournaments...

NeroDante89 Although it's mostly due to fanservice. I rarely had a Juri mirror in Steam online and shows like Excellent Adventures and Capcom Pro Talk rarely feature a Juri player.

Maverick Hunter X Yeah, because those shows actually reflect the FGC demographic. Also, Steam mirror ?! The likelihood of getting a mirror match between any two characters is extremely low to begin with (the exception being for Ryu, Ken and sometimes Gouki, but those mirror matches happen in the lower tier of the PP ladder). Also, you're talking about fan service... I'd say Cammy and Chun-Li have a lot more "eye candy" to offer than Juri - the only thing remotely weebish about Juri is her overly flirtatious attitude during battle, but even her attire (save her breastplate which shows a little bit of underboob) is not that revealing (Chun-Li's ALT 1 costume on the other hand...)

man, if NuckleDu had more confidence with his Decapre, I think he could have had a chance against Juri. Its like night and day seeing Infil and NuckleDu handle both characters going up against the same player.
And I thought doing a wake-up EX Pinwheel is as noob as doing a wakeup DP, but I'm glad that it can be a smart choice at times.
It's only a noob thing if you mash. Aiai reacted to it and knew it would work.
Maverick Hunter X ist Juri's best option for wake up if you know the opponent is going to attack, so ofc it's a good choice
Maverick Hunter X its a potent move when done right. The times you see him do EX pinwheel was when Nuckledu's guile is trying to do fireball pressure and he got tagged both times within pinwheels' range.
Maverick Hunter X When you play online, yeah, wakeup DP is a noob thing to do. But on tournaments players try meaty attacks on downed opponents, so to hell with it and wake up DP :P

Lucas Simões Poongko probably would have been bodied ;) to be honest, I think that would be 50-50. Poongko played a top 3 Juri Player in Japan on stream and the win loss was about equal
Since Ai Ai is new (I think) and no one had studied him this EVO is probably his chance to do a great debut. Poongko has a good adaptation and play less safe and more agressively, but more on angry mode, so I think he would have gotten a good chance. I agree on the 50-50. Ai Ai played smart choosing Juri and adopting an agressive match-up in my opinion. (I watch a lot but don't know a lot about fighting games so maybe I used some words wrong...)
Lucas Simões AiAi is not really new, he was one of the best Juri in Japan for some I time and Daigo talked about him as a big threat. He was zoning well against Decapre and was ready for her mixups. I think ke knew the matchup very well
Lucas Simões Poongko has played Ai Ai plenty online. Ai Ai has been in the scene in Japan for a long time at this point. Long enough to build notoriety with the Taito Station players because of his success in the team tournaments and such. He used to just play online for a while though. Was #1 on XBL forever until he started heading to the arcade. Now I believe it's Younashi (nashikn) who is #1 on XBL, another really good arcade Juri that can't travel.
