The Dodge Viper the transmission came loose and when the guy was stopped at a red light when the light turned green he took off the transmission twisted which broke the bellhousing and broke the fuel line in the process and hot fuel spilled on the exhaust and a spark from the clutch ignited the fuel
Exploded the clutch , exploded the bellhousing, severed the fuel line and ignited the fuel from the sparks from the clutch.

I'm a rebuilder and I enjoy trying to figure out what happened to the cars at the auction. Some of the scariest are the easiest to fix.
My dad's friend was looking at some Porsche Cayenne at auction, he's a rebuilder too. The B pillar was a bit bent, my dad mentioned that and this friend was like "Are you trying to scare me?" lol
Especially with only bullet holes 😮😢you'll be surprised and it's just that salvaged and really cheap

A former CEO wrecked 2 Vipers, lol. First one was being driven by his minion after dropping him off at the airport, and he uttered the fateful words "Let's see what this baby can do". Which was get sideways on a rain-slick road and get hit by a Ford Explorer. Second one was in a parking deck. He forgot he was in reverse after stopping to chat with the head of Marketing and backed into a concrete post. Best improvement ever to the Viper was to add traction aids.

@ROBIN_SAGE I think everywhere you want to camp has a charger. RV parks have outlets and it can be charging the whole time. With a generator added, you can charge while boondocking. Not sure what the range on one of these is though

On that viper looks like the clutch maybe blew apart? Causing the trans case to shoot shards into a fuel line? Or oil line maybe that’s my guess

"Lemon Law" vehicle. Where if the new car has to go to the dealership three times for a certain problem and the dealership tries to fix it three times but can't then the car is called a "Lemon" and the buyer bets to buy another car and the Lemon car is forever marked as a "Lemon" from the factory. This happened to quite a few 2007 BMW 335i's when they first came out as the High Pressure Fuel pump's had a major flaw and the car's were brought to the dealership (Under Warranty of course) but the HPFP kept failing so they were sold off as "Lemon cars under the "Lemon Law" I actually bought one in 2014 in Canada after someone had bought the car in the USA and brought it up the Canada then I got it years later. Under the car report in was written up as a faulty car just a few thousand miles after it was sold due to a "Mechanical default" from the factory. That's how I found out about that law.
Honestly, that second Hellcat Charger might be worth making a run at. Let your fave auto body shop fix up the shoddy panel gaps, do a paint correction, and (assuming the mechanicals are good), you have a steal of a deal!
I believe the dark colored Jeep shown at 19:36 in the video is the same one a friend of mine was in when his family had an accident. There were 3 people in the vehicle at the time of the accident that occurred north of Chicago, days prior to the 10th of May 2023. This My friend who was the passenger in the seat that was crushed said, "Got into a serious accident with a semi and got air lifted to a hospital. Broke my hand and a lot of ribs but doing really well compared to my first day...I was the passenger in this car and it’s a miracle that the injuries I got is all that I got." Remarkable nobody was injured worse, and amazing to see the vehicle on your TH-cam Channel.

Would you buy a bullet-hole car? If no one was hit I'd totally buy one. The damage usually isn't that bad.
I’ve never bought one, but was shot in a car I already owned. Swapped out the doors that got hit, kept the seats, it gives em character

Yes even if someone was shot in it. I would weld the holes and patch the broken trim panels. And of course thoroughly clean the car.

Nope at IAA they actually go higher per bullet holes! They figure the lead can make them weigh more, making it more valuable to be scrapped… 😂

Always interesting seeing what the Chicago Auction lot has to offer, Alex. In regards to the bullet hole in the Sonata bumper cover 13:17, you would be surprised how much plastic type materials and even wood can close back in on itself after the bullet passes through. No way to tell caliber based on the size/diameter of the hole in metal, either. Metal tend to flex and stretch a bit before the bullet breaks through and that makes it impossible to tell. 17:15 Doors can stop bullets, but only if the bullets hit some of the heavier metal structure/mechanisms inside. I've recovered many a fired bullet from the bottom of door interiors, but at the same time many have just passed right through.
On that same note, when I joined the military, I was surprised by how small a hole was made my m-16’s. They’re only .223, but I didn’t know anything about that as a kid.

Can confirm, RWD Mopar cars tend to be a good experience as a mechanic. Most things have been on the less difficult side as far as working on them. It's like the engineers aren't overly consumed with skipping the supermodels to screw the mechanics.

Fairly certain I recognize that T-Bird... Guy that owned a small local used lot near me( Lima, Ohio) had one of those he'd try to sell every summer for the last...10 or more years, he'd put it back in the garage over winter....
Last year he retired and sold everything....

The "bad bodywork" you are seeing is probably the auction house "spruce up" of the appearance before they take the auction pictures.

Hi I'm a gun guy the bull holes in the Elantra look like a 9 mm or 45 even the small one on the bumper whenever bullets go through hard plastic like that they pretty much seal right behind so it's going to look small like a 22 but trust me it's a lot bigger than what it looks like
Clutch probably let go on that viper. No scatter shield so it shot clutch through the fuel lines or similar and caught fire.
That 56 tbird is gaining crazy value right now. That’s the one I’d try to work on. I’ve got a 63 and it’s a completely different kind of car.
Hopefully it will be saved and put back on the road, maybe Alex can buy it and fix it..??

Years ago i bought a car from a police auction and got pulled over few months kater and the highway patrol found one weed seed under the seat , in Texas i almost went to prison for it but i fought for my life .

Normally I don’t really care for the “walking around in copart” videos but this video really makes me think people like you can so easily buy a couple of cars to just part out or upgrade your own and resell whatever is left to a junkyard and make a decent side income…
IE mustang recaros, ws6 tail lights, rover interior, bel aire powertrain… etc
Of course not just those parts specifically but other parts as well you can use or sell for a profit wether it’s money or in upgrades
I’ve really wanted to do that before but I just don’t have the space or place to work on a car where I live..

The hemi’s when they sit a long time are noisy at start up, if you gave it a second it’d quiet down. Slow to make oil pressure.
I put the molds in injection molding machines for the rivians front “grill” 15 ton mold, they are made out of clear plastic then the backside is painted black

I love watching rebuilder channels but that guy is just annoying. He talks so much about nothing, like he’ll say something and then reiterate it two or three times. He’s obviously just trying to pad his video length to maximize profit.

We bought a our 93 mr2 out of Chicago, the kid told we bought bought it from told us someone had tried to steal it several times, and honestly I’m surprised it didn’t have bullet holes in it…
26:51 I worked at Nissan many years ago, and we would get what are known as hobo units. They were always delivered by rail car and homeless people would jump in the cars and live in them from Mexico to Tennessee. I was in the body shop and I had to do a fair bit of detailing those units, the worst was a infinity q45 that someone used the center console as a poopy potty. We didn’t have and hazmat stuff we just pulled the console and replaced it and detailed all the other mess. These units were lived in till they ran out of the small amount of fuel in them and they would move on.
