1.Telecaster-Amp A-Tone Master Amp B-66 Deluxe 2. Stratocaster-Amp A-66 Deluxe Amp B-Tone Master 3. Gibson P90-Amp A-66 Deluxe Amp B-Tone Master 4. Gibson Humbuckers Amp A-66 Deluxe Amp B-Tone Master. Great Playing and thanks for doing this video. If I'm right or wrong isn't the point, I see the point as being It's VERY HARD TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE, Both Sounded Great. The Les Paul Humbuckers were the hardest for me to hear any difference in tone. I felt the Brighter, more Treble sounding one was the Tone Master, but that's just me.

I don't remember which is which. I think I listed the answer in one of these replies.

In the context of a mix, impossible to differentiate between the two. In Home practice, TM all the way. In terms of reliability TM all the way. In terms of repair ability probably DR, but depends on the exact version. In terms of snobbery colitis DR, all the way. Portability, TM. Value for money, TM. In terms of stress at the gig, DR. The DR holds its value better. For me the TM would win hands down when all things considered.

If I were still a "gigging guitar player" and didn't already have a room full of great tube amps, I'd have a TM.

I just found your channel while looking for Tonemaster videos to see if they’re any good. I like the comparison with the real vs digital and I am guessing Amp 1 is the real one and Amp 2 is the Tonemaster. Yes, no?

Tele amp A is TM, amp B DR. Strat Amp A TM, Amp B DR. JR Amp A DR, Amp B TM. LP Amp A DR Amp B TM.

My guess as to which the Tonemaster is as follows 1) amp B TM 2) amp B TM 3) Amp B TM 4) amp A TM

interesting, wit the Tele I preferred Amp1 (TM) as amp 2 sounded flatter, for all the others I picked the DR as it just had more sparkle, more life.
So I score 1 for the TM and 3 for the DR... in isolation, without the comparison, I would likely just want to add a little top end to the TM, and wouldn't know.
Great comparison, how was it in the room? More or less obvious?

    • @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer
      @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer  หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks! In the room the most noticeable thing was that the DR could get louder than the TM, even at the 100w setting on the TM. Tube watts are somehow different. The TM is also more compressed, which is good or bad depending on your taste. I did prefer the nice digital reverb on the TM over the spring reverb in my DR, again a personal taste thing.

@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer that's useful information. I generally just grab a Pro Junior IV for gigs (Chicago Blues in the main), and seldom get it above 4 or 5 on the volume, so use a Nobels ODR-1 to give a little hair when the guitar vol is full.
I'd been thinking about a Princeton as likely similar vol to the Pro Junior, but the TM DR with the attenuator is very interesting for my needs...
Given the choice, would you go...
      Princeton Reverb
      Deluxe Reverb with attenuator
      Or
      TM DR?
Guessing very little difference in feel when playing, be interested to know which you would purchase.

@@joncurle5407 At my age (73) I'd be using the TM Deluxe. I've been running sound for a band where the guitarist uses a TM Twin. He's running it on the 12w setting and it sounds as good as the vintage Deluxe he used before. At least it does out front. I most likely would go for the blond TM Deluxe. My last guitar gigs were back in 2021 and I used a 65Amps London Pro head for the rock band, and a Dr. Z Carmen Ghia head for the country gig. I used a small 1x12 cab with both. If I were carrying stuff every weekend, it likely would be the TM Deluxe. That entire amp likely weighs less than the Carmen Ghia head alone. I know that Uncle Larry says, "Good tone is heavy and hard to carry." but at my age some compromises are necessary.
