My school requires a test average of 80% for all classes. First semester of nursing school I took 11 credits which was two classes. My average was 75% and I had one test left and the final. I needed a 90 on both test and my highest test was 82 for that class so I lost all hope and last week's were hard knowing that I was basically out. I though about the people who believed in me and my friends I made because at the end nursi school is fun and you meet a lot of new ppl with same goals. I got my stuff together and said if I'm gonna fail I'm gonna fail doing my best. I'm not gonna go down easily. Anyways I studied like crazy and made it high enough to pull my average up. I passed and I literally cried when I saw my final grade. I'm on second semester and I'm not planning on falling so low this time. Believe in your self
I love watching your videos. I watched you throughout nursing school and I'm happy to say I passed the NCLEX the first time!!!!! I shut everyone out of my life and sacrificed friendships and relationships and it was totally worth it..if they really care they'll still be around
YES! Loved this. Wish I saw this a year ago ... I am in my 2nd round of Med-surg and had to wait a whole year AND reapply to get back in. The whole experience of nursing school has been very humbling. I took that year and basically did what you said, fixed the things that held me back but most of all, fixed MY attitude on how I was going to let things effect me. I took two classes last semester to put toward my BSN, got A's in both, so it was a win, win ... still work on my future and help my self esteem remember I AM smart, I CAN do this.
Feeling all the emotions written below. Becoming a nurse is what I've wanted for so long...however, depression hit me hard after learning I failed out Wednesday. What really sucks is the area I live in - they almost blacklist you if you fail, it's really hard to get back in. I have family around me who is actually telling me what "i need" to do... ( find a different career path) but I can't bring myself to even think of anything else.. I want to be a nurse!
@@ishatiwana2349 honestly I applied myself more. I purchased supplemental materials and would just constantly read in downtime. Also, take some time to figure out why you are missing test questions. When you miss a question is it because you didn’t know the content or did you change a right answer to a wrong answer. Good luck with everything some of the best nurses I work with failed at some point. That just means they want it more!
At the nursing school that I attend, we have a 5 semester program. Like many other nursing programs, we are only allowed 2 fails/drops during the ENTIRE clinical career. My first semester (wellness, cultural diversity, nursing basics, and pathophysiology) was a breeze. My second semester (which consisted of Medsurg, pharmacology, and Psych) didn't go too well. That was the semester my godmother passed away. I honestly thought that I could suppress the pain and just progress in my classes....until I saw how my grades came out. I could barely go to class half the time. I was a wreck. I appealed once to the committe and it was denied. I think it was because I didn't explain in detail what hindered my progression. That Summer, I went to my doctor and I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression disorder. I'm on medication right now and feel much better. So I went ahead and filed my appeal today while explaining what actually happened. One of the staff members said that my only other option now is to schedule an appointment with the dean to discuss readmission into the program. I have a pretty good feeling about it though.
Thank you I needed to hear this tonight. I've been up late all week studying and still didn't do well on my test. Nursing school is so hard. I know it will all be worth it but tonight I just need to shut it all out and just be me for a few hours. Hugs for the pep talk
This was so amazing. I got dismissed in my first semester of nursing school because I failed by .4!! After spending the whole summer crying and being so upset with myself i wrote my appeal letter and found out today that it was approved. I actually get a second chance to fix what I did wrong. This video was very helpful thank you!
Thank you so very much. I basically failed my gerontology course yesterday and I was so destroyed... There was a lecturer there who didn't like me much and my mother blamed her for everything, but watching this video made me realize that I need to put up, to pick up and I won't let that hit me down. The be successful... You have to fail... Thank you.
Thank thank you for this video! Recently I dismissed from my nursing program after not passing one of my courses with an 80. It did hurt at first but I exactly what you had said for tip #1. Your video helps so much.
omg after i knew i fail my last test and my semester of nursing school i start to talk with my friends and i felt so much better. And i will not give up on nursing Thanks for sharing this peace.
I want to say thanks for putting up these inspiring videos. I watched your videos before I started nursing school. Unfortunately, I failed Medical Surgical! I participated in class, did alot of studying! It hit me hard. But, by the grace of God, I am STILL in the program. I have to wait out a year. I am realizing that everything happens for a reason and I have a plan B, C & D! I KNOW Nursing is for me, maybe God wants me to do better than just "passing"! Thanks again for your vids.. God bless
Just found your channel and enjoy your advice. This subject really hit home for me, I turned a 2 1/2 nursing program into a 3 1/2 program all because i failed in my first semester pharm class and they held me back a whole year, i was on the edge of changing my major thinking nursing was not for me. But it is true, friends and family pushed me to go one more semester and a year later im a "B" student. Staying focused and finding the motivation in yourself to push for what really matters is key!
I failed basics of nursing...reapplied...passed....took med surg...failed...took it again...passed....now I'm failing psych.....I'm so ready to give up...i do well in clinical all the time....i feel so stupid....really depressed :(
I have my final for Nursing 3, tomorrow morning. I need 66 points on a test people barely get a 60 on, reading these comments and this video is making me realize it's not the end of the world. Don't get me wrong I'm going to cry, and probably drink a little too much, but there's always next year! I've also got a "in case I fail nursing school' bucket list.
I failed A&P 1 and I beat myself up about it. I cried for a week and I worked out like crazy! I'm now taking the class over and have no choice but to take it seriously. I'm just bummed that I have another semester added on.
Don't wanna make you feel bad but ap1 and ap2 is the easiest thing you will do in nursing school. At my school AP are pre req and yes it was hard but if you study and take t seriously you will pass easily. I passed with C on AP1 so I said I need an A in AP2 to get accepted so I tried harder and made an A. Just get your stuff together , believe in yourself an study harder
Thank you for the inspirational video. I just failed my Nursing 2 semester by one point (ONE POINT!) and I was so bummed. But I think I'll try the things you said (working out, mentally preparing myself for next time) and hop back on the horse. thanks again!
Wow, thank you so much, Nurse Mendoza. This really spoke to me! I was just in the nursing program and before this, I had all As and Bs in undergrad. I was in the RN program at my school and had my last exam 3 days ago. I have been struggling this semester because I failed the first exam really badly not because the exam was hard (don’t blame the exam) but because I was just adjusting to nursing style of studying which includes critical thinking. I was getting better every exam after that and I put all of my time and effort into passing. My effort was amazing but I ended up failing by 3%. Our school policy allows you to retake a semester but only level 2, 3, and 4. Not in level 1. This was level 1 for me and because I failed I am out of the RN program. I am currently on the waiting list for the LVN program but there are other alternates before me and because I was in the RN program prior to that, I am the last alternate on the roster. So I am praying that I get the seat but it’s going to be tough. I felt lost and unsure of myself. Watching this video has given me a lot of hope and I am ready to start applying to other colleges and start studying all of the material I have learned in this last semester so I am better prepared once I hopefully get in. Thank you for posting this and I will never give up on my dream. I will be a nurse one day!
If we have the heart for it, we deserve it. And when we struggle, we become better at what we do. I guess going through the hard way makes you better, even if you fail. But like you said, failure is the route to success.
I had my orientation today. 26 in my class. 2 guys. Got the hospital I wanted for clinicals too. Moving forward. I have taken all your videos as a motivator. Don't like this one but ok. Passed Chemistry with A's and have no plan but to study and follow you. I will start making video posts too. It has helped me watching you. And hopefully I will help someone else. Thanks Mendoza...Best, Stewy
Great advice Mendoza! I just finished my 2nd semester in nursing school with A' and B's. Halfway there and ready to be a Murse! BoooYaaah! Great channel buddy!
thank you for this video, i am attempting to reapply to another school after not being able to continue at the school i liked. i am not quitting and will get my degree.
I dont usually do this but Thanks for all the advice and helpful videos bro. I just finish all my pre-req as well as my entrance exam and All I have left is my nursing school entrance interview this upcoming Wednesday. Your a true motivation man. Continue with awesome videos and god bless
I got accepted to a 2 year nursing program straight out of high school, I was taking A&P, Psych, English, and Nursing Fundamentals.. I failed nursing by 0.49% of a point so I'm going to finish all my required pre-reqs and then go back to only focus on one class. This video did make me feel better though, thank you
I do not party, go out drinking, waste time on Facebook or Instagram. I studied everyday!!!! Yet, I dropped out. I got an "A" in Psych. Nursing. But...Med.Surg. 2 & Advanced Pharm. taken together stressed me out really bad. I have PTSD, anxiety, & I wear hearing aids (military injury). I am an older student at 61 years old. I have previous experience as an LVN with 5 years of ICU background. I left in good standing but there is no guarantee for my seat in Fall 2021. I feel so lost....
Hey thank you for following my nursing channel, but I’ll be honest with you. I had to retake my chemistry course over 3 times to pass because that was the one class in the time of my life I was playing college soccer, working full time and going through some hard times with familia. But the feeling of retaking the course was ridiculous, so I just took it without any distractions knowing that if I passed this then I would be a nurse no matter what! So I changed my mentality and perspective and that slight pivotal change helped me achieve where I am today. Hope this helps. Please don’t forget to follow my other social media nursing platforms. Thanks and best regards, NurseMendoza CVICU.
I failed term 3 of 5 for LVN I tried to appeal my spot! 2 months after getting an “academic dismissal” and it got denied. (I had a 80% throughout the entire term but I failed the final so I failed the term. I actually had a family death 3 days before my final. it was a Devastating time.) I applied to another program but I have to start from term 1 all over again!
Hey, keep your head up my fellow NurseSister because I was once in your shoes 👟 and I had to reapply. So the second time around I was back in the same course/semester, but I was a little 👌🏽 bit more intelligent 2nd time around. Get it? The BIG MAN upstairs always shifts us towards his understanding, so second time around you’ll make the best of the semester. I know it. Good luck & stay in touch my fellow CardiacStrong NurseSister.
I just failed my first nursing semester we had a test every Monday in fundamentals and assessment class was a test test every other week in, in the assessment class I had a 89 and the the funds I ended with a 79.9 needed a 90 on my final and got a 87 I was devastated but I know thinking about what I could have done won’t help anything and need to just look forward to next fall your video really helped thanks this is what I want to do and will do better next time
Im going through this right now med surg kicked my ass by 1 point and it was and sometimes still is really devastating. I have to wait a year to retake it which is the unfortunate part but i'll use that time to prepare and get my mind right. thanks for making this video I find positive people that want you to do well are the best people to have around.
i failed out of nursing school due to failing a clinical... that automatically means i cant reapply ... no one is taking me at other schools what can i do? i dont know what to do or where to go. and since i got a nc for med surg, i cant be a nursing care partner in the mean time.
Just failed my nursing school and it was 1st semester 😭 I had the chance to drop but I decided maybe...now...I'm out of the program and with a D for nursing....thnx for the advice...I'm hoping to reapply again
got flashbacks back in the day when I was still in school while watching the vid..nursing school was such a struggle for me.. I was young more like immature lol, distracted with lots of things, basically I just have no idea what I really want. I was just going with the flow.. then it hit me hard when I saw my grades damn just 1 point then I'm done it was such an eye opener tried my best to get back on track though my grades weren't that superb I manage to graduate and it's the best feeling!! :)
Today, out of nowhere, I failed my computed tomography clinicals at the end of the semester. I got A's in my classes but my CI mentioned minor errors and gave me a low score over the evaluation. Just the day before she told me "someone told me you're doing a great job" I dont deserve this. 4 months of free labor, stress, hours of studying and $1500 for nothing.
I'm sure many people are to blame. But who is to blame when the instructor is a poor one? I was in honor role and all As and Bs until nursing school lol. Our teacher would always go off topic, didn't even know how to work the math out a student had to show the class! He would yell and scream at students in from of the patients...it was horrible. He was a great person outside of school, but teaching is def not his calling. Sometimes it is the instructor.
Hey man, I’m here and listening to you my fellow @CardiacStrong NurseBrother, so keep studying and pass this next upcoming exam like your “life depended on it.” Watch how fast you’ll pass my brotha. Good luck and remember this verse my friend, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’” -Jeremiah 33:3 Best regards, NurseMendoza ❤️💪🏽
Hey Thanks for the honest feedback and for subscribing, following and commenting on all my nursing social media platforms on Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, IG and Podcast all under the name, "NURSEMENDOZA"
I failed nursing 4, my last semester by 2 points. It was heartbreaking not to be able to graduate with my classmates from fundamentals. I worked so hard and studied like there was no tomorrow but my test taking skills need improvement. I'm going through the 5 stages of DABDA:)
Been barely skating by on my exams, myself. No matter how much I study, I can't seem to get above a very low C or a high D. This fourth one I studied much harder than ever - read all the material four times over, forced myself to stare at the power points for hours at a time, memorized stuff enmasse and came out of it with another D. It is clear that nursing isn't for me (I am still in fundamentals so this should be easier) - I think I will pursue health information management instead.
Im so inspired by you! :D I had to create a channel just to comment on your video! I cant wait to finished my pre req. so I can start applying and do all that "fun" stuff and get into the nursing program! Thank you :D
I enjoy your videos. Your very inspirational. I am going to start my prereq courses this fall. I also have to loose weight since I weight over 500 lbs, but I play on loosing 200 lbs this year, and should be in much better shape by nursing school. I'm a littler nervous, but I'm trying to stay optimistic.
Some people are just born to be nurses. They say it is a calling. If it comes that naturally to them then maybe they are meant to be and you are forcing something that isn't natural to you. I am the same way; I don't think like a Nurse and can't see things in shades of gray like the NCLEX style questions want you to. Studied hard and still got my butt handed to me. I am changing my major but maybe you will fare better this time, depending on how well you did. Hopefully you are now.
hahah u got a point.. when i wa in school i didnt go on phone or internet no life but studying. an i passed my nursing program... now the nclex.. failed it 2 times.. an STIL TRYING. .. ONE THING THAT I LEARNED AFTER ALL THE CRYIN AND BLAMING PEOPLE FOR MY FAULTS BEUCASE OF FAILING MY TEST IS I HAVE A VIEW IN HOW QUESTIONS ARE ASKED THROUGH THE TIMES I DID TAKE THE NCLEX, ...
Hello bro! I'm watching all your videos and I'm feeling really discourage, on the math portion, whike working on the job and med dosage calculations, because I'm horrible at math and this is holding me back, from becoming a nurse. I don't wanna accidently kill a patient.
Hi there, I am past mid semester and am doing loads better scoring better on standardized tests, Still difficult, but faring better. I got a very good tutor and also have been working on test taking skills. I'm not getting A's but fair enough scores. Gotta say one of instructors pulled me into her office and said things like these happen for a reason, it's not really b/c we're "not meant" to be nurses, just it's a challenge thrown at you if you believe in God.
My School required an 82%, just PLEASE make sure you don’t sacrifice and achieve the degree, like me, just to learn it’s not for you, and to this day, I am a Civil Engineer explaining away a BSN in a job interview, Lol. Btw, I Loved Chemistry, and am a Chemical Engineer now, so hopefully I am a thin majority!!!!
ANYONE STRUGGLING WITH ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY... There is a channel/ teacher named Wendy Riggs here on youtube. She is an A/P saint and took me from a point of being scared to death of the class, to passing both 1&2 with A's, to tutoring the subject now. (I wish she did nursing videos!) But I see people here in the comment section saying that they are having a problem with anatomy and physiology. believe me there is no reason to suffer without help. Your secret weapons in the challenge that is anatomy and physiology are Wendy's video lectures. You're welcome!
Im 20 and my second year at a community college. I have always wanted to be a nurse, but when i took anatomy for the first time, it was extremely intimidating and i dropped the class half way through. I ended up taking it again, and passed, but did not pass with the B- i needed. I am now in Physiology, and need a B- to keep my seat that is saved in Nursing at the University I am transferring to in the fall. I am struggling with the material. I study it with people in my class but have the hardest time understanding it. I dont know if i will pass it.. I have a final exam left. If I do, I also have to take anatomy for the third time at the university.. i feel discouraged and i feel as if maybe this isn't for me. I wanted to be a nurse because i love people, especially children, and love helping others who are in need. Biology and chemistry are my weaknesses though.. is this a reason i should not be a nurse? I know i can do anything, if i work hard at it, but i feel like i have been doing so and its not enough.
I'm a third semester nursing student who just failed Peds. My school does annual enrollment only, so I have to wait until January to take one class. I'm so bummed about it.
I love your videos! Im applying for nursing school this coming spring, I want to know tips in getting into the actual nursing program You made videos on what its like in the program but not how you got in .... But please help me !! Its my dream to be a nurse and I know im smart enough to do it so if you could make a video about how you prepared that would be so awesome !!!
And it's funny cuz there were some in my class who never studied shit, goes drinking every night and yet pulls A's on the test...I don't get it! 'What advice can u give in that sense? Cuz I took everything seriously and still am held back. It's very demoralizing and now all my instructors know what happened and I'm dreading when September comes around...
Needed this. For me it's funny cuz I attended the nursing program with a prior degree with 3.5 GPA in biology and got all A's and B's in the sciences like chem, bio & math. I studied my ass off in nursing school from day one & today I found out I cannot continue and have to retake courses which I passed all because I didn't meet the require minimum GPA cuz I didn't do well on the Hesi! My grades dropped a lot cuz of that effin test!
I won’t give in to my mind bout changing my major. I need to be a registered nurse. I hope no one will prevail me from becoming a medical professional.

I failed anatomy this fall at college. That is some stuff I really needed to hear!
I got accepted to a 2 year nursing program straight out of high school, I was taking A&P, Psych, English, and Nursing Fundamentals.. I failed nursing by 0.49% of a point so I'm going to finish all my required pre-reqs and then go back to only focus on one class. This video did make me feel better though, thank you
Thanks for the motivation!!! I just did my final for my second semester and i'm waiting for the results.. it' s killing me!!
Thanks and best regards,
NurseMendoza CVICU.
You are an inspiration and a positive influence. Thank you. I've been wanting to go into the nursing career and you are an inspiration.
Your vids are great! Straight to the point. Very Very helpful!
thank you for taking your time to upload this video.God is working
I failed term 3 of 5 for LVN
I tried to appeal my spot! 2 months after getting an “academic dismissal” and it got denied. (I had a 80% throughout the entire term but I failed the final so I failed the term. I actually had a family death 3 days before my final. it was a Devastating time.) I applied to another program but I have to start from term 1 all over again!
Hey,
keep your head up my fellow NurseSister because I was once in your shoes 👟 and I had to reapply. So the second time around I was back in the same course/semester, but I was a little 👌🏽 bit more intelligent 2nd time around.
Get it? The BIG MAN upstairs always shifts us towards his understanding, so second time around you’ll make the best of the semester. I know it. Good luck & stay in touch my fellow CardiacStrong NurseSister.
startin all my pre nursing and general ed classes this spring semester. long road ahead of me. just glad to finally have a goal to work towards
I just failed my first nursing semester we had a test every Monday in fundamentals and assessment class was a test test every other week in, in the assessment class I had a 89 and the the funds I ended with a 79.9 needed a 90 on my final and got a 87 I was devastated but I know thinking about what I could have done won’t help anything and need to just look forward to next fall your video really helped thanks this is what I want to do and will do better next time
I needed to hear this. Thanks.
Thanks man I really needed this support just failed my statistics class now I'm planning to retake it
i failed out of nursing school due to failing a clinical... that automatically means i cant reapply ... no one is taking me at other schools what can i do? i dont know what to do or where to go. and since i got a nc for med surg, i cant be a nursing care partner in the mean time.
Just failed my nursing school and it was 1st semester 😭 I had the chance to drop but I decided maybe...now...I'm out of the program and with a D for nursing....thnx for the advice...I'm hoping to reapply again
Good job
got flashbacks back in the day when I was still in school while watching the vid..nursing school was such a struggle for me.. :)
Thanks for your thoughts!!! I really liked it. I think I'm gonna try the running thing lol
I failed Complex Nursing IV.....I have to wait 4 months to start the last two semesters of my program. This video helped me feel less like a dumbass!
Thank you! Very helpful and encouraging.
Great! I ust failed Nursing 1. Thank you! This video is really helpful
Currently failing my OB class; man this rotation isn’t for me. I need to ace my final to pass. Wish me luck test is on Friday!!!
Hey man, I’m here and listening to you my fellow @CardiacStrong NurseBrother, so keep studying and pass this next upcoming exam like your “life depended on it.” Watch how fast you’ll pass my brotha. Good luck and remember this verse my friend, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’”
-Jeremiah 33:3
Best regards,
NurseMendoza ❤️💪🏽
@@NurseMendoza i passed the class bro!!! Thank you for them words. Keep coming out with that 🔥👊🏼✊🏼
wish there was a love button for this video
Hey Thanks for the honest feedback and for subscribing, following and commenting on all my nursing social media platforms on Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, IG and Podcast all under the name, "NURSEMENDOZA"
I failed nursing 4, my last semester by 2 points. It was heartbreaking not to be able to graduate with my classmates from fundamentals. I worked so hard and studied like there was no tomorrow but my test taking skills need improvement. I'm going through the 5 stages of DABDA:)
Thank you, I really needed this. You are a huge inspiration
awesome video! ...getting ready for Semester 1 of nursing in January. WISH ME LUCK=)
This gave me hope. Thanks :)
I failed my final year of nursing, omg, I can tell everyone how much pain I went through or will through.
Richard Xia sorry to hear that! Stay strong
I respect you so much. Thanks for the video
Thanks, just failed my nursing class... Did really good on all materials but failed my final which was our deciding factor.
Good advice! I know we lost 7 this semester and maybe more now that finals r over. 90% for me baby yeah lol
Im so inspired by you! :D I had to create a channel just to comment on your video! I cant wait to finished my pre req. so I can start applying and do all that "fun" stuff and get into the nursing program! Thank you :D
Thank you so much for posting this 💜
I enjoy your videos. Your very inspirational. I am going to start my prereq courses this fall. I also have to loose weight since I weight over 500 lbs, but I play on loosing 200 lbs this year, and should be in much better shape by nursing school. I'm a littler nervous, but I'm trying to stay optimistic.
This was so helpful and encouraging to me. Today in class was real stressful.
This strikes really hard at the end of a med surg course >__
I like you. Very confident and smart.
Hi there,
I am past mid semester and am doing loads better scoring better on standardized tests, Still difficult, but faring better.
Mine was being in the wrong program.. I didn't want to do Psych Tech and the people in my class were terrible.
I understand. Sometimes courses and classes has great and poor classmates.
I failed nclex. Did it yesterday. I failed. I am a jamaican nurse. I feel like jumping a cliff. Do t know where to begin again.
I didn't pass my med Checkoff yesterday and I can't get over it. I'm being depressed :(
Thanks you for your video, very inspiring! :)
Nursing student from France
I'm at the crossroad with my PATHO class n withdrawing right now. I'm bummed n waiting to hear what my adviser say tomorrow
I'm a third semester nursing student who just failed Peds. My school does annual enrollment only, so I have to wait until January to take one class. I'm so bummed about it.
Thanks for the motivation
I love your videos! Im applying for nursing school this coming spring, I want to know tips in getting into the actual nursing program You made videos on what its like in the program but not how you got in .... But please help me !! Its my dream to be a nurse and I know im smart enough to do it so if you could make a video about how you prepared that would be so awesome !!!
Just failed semester ONE of my PMC class, and at a pretty low point run.
this video gave me inspiration!!
i failed a&p 1 was beating myself up pretty bad
And it's funny cuz there were some in my class who never studied shit, goes drinking every night and yet pulls A's on the test...I don't get it! 'What advice can u give in that sense? Cuz I took everything seriously and still am held back. It's very demoralizing and now all my instructors know what happened and I'm dreading when September comes around...
In AZ you have to have a 78 percent to pass to the next block or semester, they don't play.
I'm 15 (male) But i want to be a nurse! Cannot wait
I fear failing, and that stops me from a lot of things.
thanks needed that.
i just failed the main class of my first semester and i'm currently dying
I won’t give in to my mind bout changing my major. I need to be a registered nurse. I hope no one will prevail me from becoming a medical professional.
19y/o murse. Last semester this spring. RN in may
Hell yeh
Love ur vids. Thanks for the motivation.
