Dog Deterrent Fence DIY: Stop Climbing & Jumping

A bit of trial & error before we landed on the right solution to stop our dog from climbing and jumping over the fence. We're renting, so we couldn't use a permanent solution. Our first idea, chicken wire, was not successful. However, hog fence panels from Tractor Supply & some 2x4s did the trick. This DIY is for people with a bit of experience and not total beginners like me. Thanks, Dad!
At home you’ll need:
A grinder or bolt cutter
A hammer
A drill and a 1/8" bit (or smaller depending on your screws)
A screwdriver
A tape measure
A pencil or a Sharpie
A vehicle or large enough to fit the 8' metal panels
You’ll want to purchase:
A 16ft 34" hog panel (Tractor Supply will cut these in half for you)
An 8ft 2x4 for every other fence post (cut in half)
An 8ft 1x3 for the gate (cut in half)
A box of exterior screws in various lengths depending on your fence
A box of 3/4" U nails
Optional:
A saw (or you can measure ahead & cut at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.)
A pack of 4" zip ties (if you are rounding the corner like we did)

Some dogs can climb over anything where they can get a foot hold, climb it just like a ladder. I've seen my neighbors dog do this, they had one dog that climbed the fence to get out, the other just jumped right over the fence. That fence wasn't really tall, making it higher might stop the jumper, but not the climber, then the jumper might learn by watching the climber.

Currently having a similiar issue, have 2 big dogs, they don't jump they climb, they climb a fence faster than you can climb a ladder crazy to watch. My suggestion is electric fence, keep in mind it's not expensive and you can get a smaller output of power as well so it's not bad defiantly under 200 done, maybe 100.

Great ideas! Problem is my fence is cheaper made than that hog fence. It's 4ft tall and he just jumps over and it folds down. I can't afford chain link. Uggg. I'm searching for ideas.
