This is a great video Erik! With your help I replaced my broken wheel on my 14SB. I typically let the John Deere dealer do all my service but I'm sure i saved a good amount of money doing this job myself. Thank you!
Sorry but you installed washers on rear wheel incorrectly. Small washer goes between the two large washers and large washers go on either side of dust cover. I find it easier to put bolt through wheel then assemble large washer, small washer, dust cover, then second large washer. Position assembly with transmission gear through hole in dust sheild and thread bolt into hole into the mower.
I have a JX75 and have a wheel problem. However, my mower is a LATER MODEL with a higher than 2000000 serial number, which I believe means a different wheel bolt than the lower number models that year. Can you verify this? Number on mower is GXJX75x202284
+Casey Casebolt what wheel problem are you experiencing? Are they just worn, or are you having issues with it moving forward, reverse, or turning? Can you confirm if your mower looks like the one on the left in this picture? www.purplewave.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?130605/AH9161/1 The later models (as shown on the left) have the bigger FJ180V engine and the wheels are mounted using lock nuts (part # H135891).
+Erik Asquith Yes, this is the mower. Mine is a later model apparently as the parts list says higher serial number than 200000 has different wheels. Mine is 202284. Says to order GY20630 Wheel. I have reviewed this video and think i will order two new ones to replace the rear, which are def badly worn and torn on edges. The front can probably be used at least one more season. I am taking it in for tuneup next week and will have the JD dealer do the work i assume. I have never been pleased with the way this mower mulches with the plug and proper blade installed. I put it on the 3rd lowest setting, which is shown in the operating manual and it just does not mulch fine enough it appears, and it throws a lot of cutting out from under the deck. Had any experience with that matter? Thanks for your prompt reply. Casey
+Casey Casebolt I agree and pointed out the same thing in this video th-cam.com/video/20e9AF2k8qA/w-d-xo.html. I use the John Deere JX75 in conjunction with my Honda HRX217. I find the JX75 to cut and bag leaps and bounds better then the Honda. However, the Honda does mulch and shred leaves better.
+Erik Asquith Sorry Erik. I missed seeing that. I have a neighbor who has a Honda and def does much better job of mulching. I also agree this JD does a good job of bagging. I try not to bag, at the recommendation of my lawn service company and instead try to mow frequently enough to enable me to use the added side discharge chute. Thanks for your help today. JC sure messed up when they ceased making these series of mowers. Now they make those "tincan" junk ones sold at HD and Lowes. They dont begin to compare with the 14SB, which i owned before this JX75. Wish i still had it too.
Thank you so much. My old JX75 is still going strong, and if I had to replace him, I don't know what I would do. I hate the new mowers.
