Yeah it seemed kinda strange there wasn't more oil slung around underneath... Almost like that truck had done sat for awhile and they just pulled it out to make a video...
There wasn't any rear end oil because it had already slung it out 20K miles ago ! When you grenade a rear end like he did that wasn't done in 20 mile trips! What the heck! I know it's good to help folks out but your not getting paid to help people out that because of dumb decisions cost you money (way more money than necessary) because of their dumb decisions!
I did a similar thing on our old Scania when I was younger. It was on a crane mount, so I had to dig a ditch to get under the truck and do all the work from below. As a teenager you see everything as a challenge. I got it done in a day. Today I guess someone had to put a gun to my head to get it done 😂😅. It's hard work.
If he had been doing expections..he would have noticed a long time ago ...that's just basic stuff they don't teach in driver school..😅...just saying..rims dont lie......if you're axles leak 9 times of 10 will you'll see it on your rims......💯
Hate to see that happen to the fellow, but you got to keep up with maintaining your equipment and daily inspections help with preventing catastrophic break down.
Not on here to say that would never happen but that couldve damn near been avoided by doing a walk around inspection and not just checking the fluids under the hood. Takes quite some time for gear oil to leak out. Love the videos!
And I'm pretty good friends with 1 of the guys that own the saw mill right there near you. His a big time logger in blackridge VA. Would really like to come see that house your family is fixing up 1 day.
Like seeing the logging stuff on TH-cam. Keep up the good videos. I'm from just down the road and have a mobile welding service. Welding on logging equipment and trailers for a long time if you ever need any help. I'm right by WestRock in Gaston if you ever need any work done.
I believe there is a gauge you can put on the instrument panel to tell you how much heat is in your diffs and how much heat is in your gearbox and how much oil is in the diffs and the gearboxes there is a set up that you can do that

Hate to watch that. Ive been around trucks and heavy equipment for a long time. Stuff like this is preventable but it sucks. Nit only is he out of a week of work but that $2100 in parts plus install parts and consumables. Based on what they were working on and with i say that's a really big ding on the bottom line for these guys.
Their cost for a reman unit would be a hell of a lot more just for the part! I wouldn't think he could get a reman unit for $2100 the are probably going to jbbweld that same unit and flush it out fill it with gear olive and spray paint it and sell it back to him for $2100?😅

Wow. Short video with only a subcontract truck being tore apart. Being from Virginia, guess I expect to see more work and longer videos of production and getting the work done instead of mechanic work videos and such short videos each week
I'm guessing they do a lot more wrenching than logging. If you're here to see timber movin, you'll probably be disappointed. If you're here for laughs, there's plenty to be had

Thats a hard way to work on a truck out in grass and not in a shop. Hate that for the truck owner and driver.
Have equipment blocking the front of my shop infront of the door. Other wise he could have taken it there to work on.

As a driver you must keep an eye on these things before it gets catastrophical. It must have dripped oil for some time.
