they way they exchange looks in season 4 says a lot about their relationship, only very close friends can look at each other this way. There is a lot of emotion in Jean's and Mikasa's eyes. When Connie blamed Eren Mikasa's first instinct was to look at Jean and his eyes were filled with regret for her, because he knows how she feels about Eren yet it pains him that she will suffer from what Eren is doing. And all other scenes like in Egerists rebellion and after then Hange and Mikasa came for him at night...man his looks say it all. Jean is very well written character. I enjoyed this interactions between them, gives more depth to the story. Thank you Mappa

Also the scene when jean is standing with floch and the jaegarists and Mikasa looks into his eyes with a disappointed face. ...and then jean is not able to sleep at night knowing that he disappointed her and joined Mikasa and Armin eventually. This clearly shows that both of them had developed a close enough connection to each other.

Starting with a strong friendship and trust eachother more than anybody else, being there for eachother when the one is sad. İn season 4 they even complete eachothers words. Jean is such a great character. At first you would think that he would become a jerk and a bully. I also thought that he would harass mikasa because he felt rejected. But he showed such a human way of growth that anybody can relate to. He is respectable, is funny, gives people space, smart and shows courage even feeling scared. I actually also liked the dynamic between jean and eren. They gave sibling energy. So sad it had to turn out this way. But if mikasa is going to end up with him (which i think its also a good match), then i hope he gets the emotional devotion that he deserves.
I just don't like the idea of Jean and Mikasa ending up together, more because of Jean than Mikasa or Eren. It just doesn't seem fair to him. It's obvious Mikasa will never move on from Eren (even moreso now with anime ending), so to have Jean end up with Mikasa would just be incredibly emasculating. Imagine being married and knowing for the rest of your life your wife will never love you the way she did Eren. It just wouldn't work.
When I first saw him in Season 1 I thought he'd be the generic douchebag/rival character, but he definitely became one of the most likeable characters in the show over time.
I like how Jean is not the typical sidecasted love interest that does underhanded/petty tactics to earn their love. It's also cute that even though Mikasa changed so much through the years, he still loved her.
jean treats her so well and i cant help but feel like they've been getting closer in season 4. the way they care for each other and are always looking to see how the other is feeling. its sweet and subtle. i wish they got more one-on-one interactions but i also love it this way.

Also it's heavily implied that Mikasa died a virgin with her shown being buried atop a bed of white roses, which symbolizes purity. JeanKasa would work if Mikasa was ever able to move on from Eren, but Isayama makes it pretty clear that isn't possible.
His love for her it’s very pure and genuine, that’s one thing no one can argue about. When Armin said that Eren had hurt Mikasa and Mikasa told him to shake it off but Jean insisted on knowing how exactly he had hurt her was so sweet. And his character development >> I think he also understands Eren pretty well on S4. But anyways, he truly cares for her 🥹
Jean is one of those characters you don't initially like but will slowly really warm up to, I wish they gave him a bit more stuff to do in the series. Even Sasha and Conny had their little subplots, but poor Jean is always just showed to the side.

When you have two people who have known each other for so long and were basically as close as siblings, it's really hard to ever express those feelings especially if they are romantic. Obviously with Mikasa being much more mature, she is able to express her feelings for Eren in a more mature way. But Eren is still very childish in season 1 and 2. To me, this is why he always fought back so hard when she tried to take care of him. Because Eren thought that Mikasa's feelings towards him were that of a mother or big sister, and his feelings for her were beyond that. He just didn't know how to express them properly. Then, the more time they spend with each other without confessing their feelings, the both of them become less sure that the other feels the same way. Which is why Mikasa wasn't able to confess to Eren when he asks "what am I to you?". Because she is so terrified of her confessing and him not reciprocating.
I honestly like that this never really becomes a plot point in the show. It’s just always going on in the background, never taking up unnecessary amounts of time, pretty realistic. In a setting like this, any kind of love triangle drama would seem pretty out of place and kind of frustrating, so it’s nice to see that even if Jean’s love is unrequited, it doesn’t dominate his personality like it might in other anime, and it doesn’t get in the way of him developing as a character in other ways. It’s also nice how just because Mikasa isn’t in love with Jean, she still considers him a friend and doesn’t ever treat him coldly

I feel like he would always take care of Mikasa and one day Mikasa might even start loving him. (Even though i don’t think she will ever forget Eren). I loved his aggressive attitude and how he used to say pretty sensible things when he was angry. He was a good character because he would never hate anyone for no reason and he was just a little harsh but very pure from his heart. I loved him, Sasha and Connie's friendship so much as well. And I was glad he and the others had equally remarkable screentime in season 4. Plus, no hate or offense to Eremika shippers but I loved these two as much as them. If Eren is fated to die in AoT (which I'm not sure about) then I guess I'd love Jean and Mikasa together.

He does, and don’t worry you’re right that his actions are not to impress Mikasa, he’s really grown up as a reliable leader (he’s a commanding officer in s4 btw). In S4 he definitely still loves her, but he also cares about her and his teammates even in difficult situations he’s facing, trying to see things from objective point of view.
And the first time they arrived Marley, Jean saw sasha excited about eating the ice cream, and the first thing he do is order one for mikasa and only to give her first, he really is a greatest horse in the world

Judging from Mikasa’s deep love for Eren, she would adopt children and live happily with them as a family till old age while staying loyal to Eren til the end. Jean was obnoxious in season 1, but since season 2.. Then in season 3, I started liking his character's development. But Jean in season 4 (finale part) was the best--he kinda took the leadership in my opinion, and the most "normal" with rational logic among his peers. I was actually shipping him with Mikasa, don't blame me.. Jean is such a gentleman, and for once I wanna see him being happy with his dream girl. So when his dream about having a family with Mikasa was aired, I was practically screaming silently watching it. It wasn't real, but I really like that episode about Jean 😊
here’s the thing, why did isiyama make jean fall for mikasa throughout the anime like that? (the end when everyone was at the boat and were going to meet up with mikasa to see erens grave and jeans fixing his hair). at some point jean should have moved on but you can see he was willing to save eren for mikasa because he knew how important he was for her. Even mikasa knew jean liked her still. considering the ending which shows jean near mikasa holding a child, the “dream” he wanted, the drawing before he even met mikasa could have been foreshadowing that.
He loves her so much, and he wants her to be happy. If another guy is the one who can make her happy, he's willing to help her achieve that. As long as she's happy, he's happy.

It's obvious Mikasa will never move on from Eren (even moreso now with anime ending), so to have Jean end up with Mikasa would just be incredibly emasculating. Imagine being married and knowing for the rest of your life your wife will never love you the way she did Eren. It just wouldn't work.
When I first saw him in Season 1 I thought he'd be the generic douchebag/rival character, but he definitely became one of the most likeable characters in the show over time.
I like how Jean is not the typical sidecasted love interest that does underhanded/petty tactics to earn their love. It's also cute that even though Mikasa changed so much through the years, he still loved her.

When you have two people who have known each other for so long and were basically as close as siblings, it's really hard to ever express those feelings especially if they are romantic. Obviously with Mikasa being much more mature, she is able to express her feelings for Eren in a more mature way. But Eren is still very childish in season 1 and 2.
To me, this is why he always fought back so hard when she tried to take care of him. Because Eren thought that Mikasa's feelings towards him were that of a mother or big sister, and his feelings for her were beyond that. He just didn't know how to express them properly. Then, the more time they spend with each other without confessing their feelings, the both of them become less sure that the other feels the same way. Which is why Mikasa wasn't able to confess to Eren when he asks "what am I to you?". Because she is so terrified of her confessing and him not reciprocating.
I honestly like that this never really becomes a plot point in the show. It’s just always going on in the background, never taking up unnecessary amounts of time, pretty realistic. In a setting like this, any kind of love triangle drama would seem pretty out of place and kind of frustrating, so it’s nice to see that even if Jean’s love is unrequited, it doesn’t dominate his personality like it might in other anime, and it doesn’t get in the way of him developing as a character in other ways.
It’s also nice how just because Mikasa isn’t in love with Jean, she still considers him a friend and doesn’t ever treat him coldly

Bcs Jean always knew about Mikasa s love for Eren and he never abused it. He always respected it. And he also witnessed everything that happened. I feel like he would always take care of Mikasa and one day Mikasa might even start loving him. (Even though i don’t think she will ever forget Eren). Btw I love Jean so much! He's been one of my favorite characters in AoT overall. I loved his aggressive attitude and how he used to say pretty sensible things when he was angry. He was a good character because he would never hate anyone for no reason and he was just a little harsh but very pure from his heart. I loved him, Sasha and Connie's friendship so much as well. And I was glad he and the others had equally remarkable screentime in season 4.
Plus, no hate or offense to Eremika shippers but I loved these two as much as them. If Eren is fated to die in AoT (which I'm not sure about) then I guess I'd love Jean and Mikasa together.

Jean was obnoxious in season 1, but since season 2.. Then in season 3, I started liking his character's development. But Jean in season 4 (finale part) was the best--he kinda took the leadership in my opinion, and the most "normal" with rational logic among his peers. I was actually shipping him with Mikasa, don't blame me.. Jean is such a gentleman, and for once I wanna see him being happy with his dream girl. So when his dream about having a family with Mikasa was aired, I was practically screaming silently watching it. It wasn't real, but I really like that episode about Jean 😊

here’s the thing, why did isiyama make jean fall for mikasa throughout the anime like that? (the end when everyone was at the boat and were going to meet up with mikasa to see erens grave and jeans fixing his hair). at some point jean should have moved on but you can see he was willing to save eren for mikasa because he knew how important he was for her. Even mikasa knew jean liked her still. considering the ending which shows jean near mikasa holding a child, the “dream” he wanted, the drawing before he even met mikasa could have been foreshadowing that.
He loves her so much, and he wants her to be happy. If another guy is the one who can make her happy, he's willing to help her achieve that. As long as she's happy, he's happy.
