    The ship is looking great! I know some are frustrated by the delays, but things like this happen. Villa Vie has been very transparent. Refurbishing a ship of this age that has sat for some time is a monumental task. Looking forward to your upcoming adventure.

    Love your updates and seeing the progress on the ship. We have had the privilege of being on the ship when it was the Braemar and we loved it for its size. Also very stable in rough seas when we went to Norway ! Very envious of you guys. I have also been to Greenland you will love it, the icebergs etc are phenomenal and the colours are amazing watch out for lots of sealife along the way especially between Norway, Scotland, Iceland and Greenland. Glad you like what you say there. A small correction to your narrative. Villa Vie is NOT the 1st Resident Ship. Since 2001 The World - Residences at Sea - The World Cruise Boat has been sailing. Their beginning was rough, with several management changes until the residents took over. Sometimes less than 50 passengers are on board, and guests wander around in bathing suits. The ship is also open for regular cruise passengers to make some revenue. Last but not least the vessel has passed her "normal" life expectancy. She will require a ton of TLC, and spare parts will be difficult to come by. Case in point the problem and hence delayed departure, the saga of replacing the rudder stock. Wishing you all fair seas!

    • @MidLifeCruising95
      @MidLifeCruising95  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is like buying real estate. Everyone pays whatever they work out with their sales agent. All the rooms are so different and earlier you bought the bettet deal. We also sign a NDA, so your best bet is to check out the web site for pricing. Sales agents are super kind and not agressive at all.
      Price includes wifi, meals, gym, activities, 2 drinks with lunch and dinner (beer and wine), sodas and coffee included, laundry and room cleaning twice a week...One free doctor consult and care per injury or illness (follow up and prescriptions not). I think I got it all. Travel insurance....the ships has an insurance partner they work with, but most bought their own. (All different companies depending on needs)

    • @cruisecrazy7066
      @cruisecrazy7066 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MidLifeCruising95 Thanks for the great reply. Unfortunately, your NDA prevents you from giving me any real, useful information. You tell me that you got a whole bunch of stuff, but without the cost, it is meaningless. Did you pay $10,000 or $10,000,000? And are the ongoing fees $10 a day or $1,000 a day. BIG difference. Anyway, enjoy your new life. Hopefully it was a bargain. I am jealous.

    For the price I was expecting those cabins to look nicer. That's not the type of money I would like to pay to step onto a ship that looks like it's from the 80s or 90s. I was also shocked to find out detail like you only get included laundry service and housekeeping every two weeks in that high monthly fee. The only way I can see this making sense is if the tax you're saving by not being resident anywhere covers most or all of the cost. I'm sorry for being so negative, it is just my opinion. I wish you all the best and hope they sort all their problems out.

      @@MidLifeCruising95 Interesting. I've grown up with "two weekly" (from their website) meaning every two weeks. "twice weekly" means two times a week. "only so much can be done in a limited time" ... that doesn't make sense. They chose the date by when the ship will be ready, they should've chosen one by when it would be completely ready. That's like buying a house and the builder saying, don't worry we'll finish off after you've moved in. Maybe I'm just missing the allure of this adventure. I won't say anything else, because your videos are great and have helped me make my mind up.

      @@MidLifeCruising95 I'm following this because a friend is booked on this cruise and was so excited for her. This is bait and switch IMO. The company is responsible for providing you with the product you contracted for. Mike and Co. are selling you a lot of bs- and it sounds like an abusive lover who keeps telling you that whatever happens is not his fault. ITS 100% his fault for no doing his due diligence. He sold a concept then bought the only ship. he could find or afford. He did not realize his vision- since the ship looks nothing like his "dream". How could he promise this cruise to customers- and then act like he got stuck with this old-ship? Why weren't all the cabins and hallways redecorated? Why weren't the bathroom redone- like in the pictures on their website when people booked this cruise? All those things could have and should have been done during dry dock. Even the hallways have old dirty carpet and it's been in dry dock for months. There was no coordinated effort or professionalism. I'd be on another cruise- there are plenty of affordable world cruises out there. Maybe not for three years- but lots of them- with lovely cabins and amenities.

    Was on a cruise ship many years ago was only a 3/4 day trip for me it was a no go.
    It was a work trip for family from the bosses to the employees, never been on a ship and we had a 4 month old baby with us the whole ship wanted to kidnap my baby she’s so cute
    bar staff-captain-kids nursery- cabin crew- the whole ship even hubbys friends.
    One they gave us a small room rite by the stairs not good with a pram hubby carry baby up me carry pram not fun no staff helping.
    It was funny at times cos hubby and baby have same initials and we had to use pre paid cards on board
    I still had my drinks my baby was fine. but man do they throw u killer drinks it’s more vodka then coke or whatever.
    Never had morning sickness nothing but on the ship I was bad off then I met some other guy there no not that way, he was also seasick so I go get him some of mine, u can’t have a scissors with u, so I go find a nurse ask her please can u cut this meds I wanna help someone else. This nut started going nuts on me about how all the young ones wanna just party and take dr@gs I was like excuse me it’s nausea meds dam that chick be crazy.
    So we have a tiny room it’s just a bed I have to clean the baby bottles on the floor with a bowl the boil hot water to sterilise, then make bottles, the bed is small him one side baby in the middle me on the the other side I have to watch out there is a bunk bed just above my head hit it a few times 😫 ouch . Didn’t get breakfast only lunch and dinner didn’t work well cos we somehow missed dinner all times and room service was bad at 9-10 pm u can only get a club sandwich that’s all they will make there is 2 restaurants but after 8 pm they close. So u get really hungry.
    Then lest I forget cos we have a baby with us they wanted us to do excursions from a rubber duck
    To go onland now tell me how a pram was gonna work for sand or on a ducky, then because some went and they used the ship ducky this was in
    Mauritius the pirates yes they wanted to board the ship and hold us hostage now imagine that with again a baby u r freaking out so badly. My nerves were DONE 5 hour wait in the one room 5 - 5 hours stressing with a baby no less.
    I will never go back on a ship again when we got back to land I have never wanted to kiss the ground as much as I had before we had sea legs for weeks after, every thing like the bed bathroom was like off by what I mean is the ship is going forward we are sleeping sideways over the engine the vibration and the moving of the sea was not fun. U back home and going to a bathroom or ur bed for weeks it was going with the motion even flying back was not fun.
    For some reason I got frisked twice who knows even poor baby had to get a pat down like why a. Baby I wasn’t hiding anything what been a young looking mom made them think I was a party mom lmao I know I know.
    Did get to meet some fantastic people while there my very own Will and Grace yeah that’s how long ago that was now baby ain’t baby anymore now teen
    Will I do it again NO but I will watch u guys have all the fun

Rudder stocks had to be replaced. A couple of months in dry dock after she was laid up during Covid for 4 years was a bigger hurdle than expected.
