Theres another youtuber who "moved in" onboard this ship. I watched their video and the briefing from the head of staff and all I could think of were all the hiccups and problems they were still ironing out. I cant help but think; if it sounds too good to be true; it probably is.

I worked on cruise ships long ago in the shops on carnival, princess and Royal Caribbean. My contracts were 6 months on, and 1 month off. Wish I could do this, don't know for years at a time. Congratulations to you both,can't wait to keep in touch with you kids.❤

Oh, it swivels either direction. They did discuss for the rooms that have it in a wonky place, they are working on relocating them. That is where previous line had them placed.

We have an itinerary scheduled out for 3 years. Check it out on the Villa Vie website. Once we get clearance to sail, we will know which port we start with. It will be either Reykjavik, Iceland or Oslo, Norway.

@@deekayunited3445 We have a complete itinerary. It has been posted on the Villa Vie website. I have it linked in our description. Once we set sail, we will follow that. We are still waiting for final tests to begin cruising.

With all the work to get this older ship ready to go, will the company be taking the ship to sea without passengers first, for a shakedown cruise? It would be a bummer for it to breakdown at sea and have to get towed back in while you were aboard (although it could be an exciting adventure for ya'll if they didn't do a shakedown).
@@rpmcitycruiser She sailed from Edinburg to Belfast a few months ago before dry dock. They have scheduled sea trials coming up where we will disebark while they take her for a spin.
...and if they do keep us on, we will film it! Ha ha

That is buyback if we sell directly to VVR. We can sell it ourselves for whatever price we want. We can rent or sell on our own.

Good catch! They will eventually wear uniforms. Since we have not officially started and many places are still under construction, this is the attire. This is a start up and lots of things to work through still. Can't wait to see everyone in uniform!

There are different programs available. We did the buy a villa with a monthly maintenance fee option. The prices will likely go up once we sail, as the word is really getting out. Please check out their website, it is linked below in our description. They list all the prices. Each deck pays differently...
Interested in pricing. Do you pay for shore excursions?
Yes, but that is the only thing we really have to pay for. They are at cost, so the ship doesn't make money on those.

Ooo ..nice!!!! The ship looks cosy and just nice for a residence (unlike the monster cruise ships so popular these days). Is it already at full capacity? The food looks yummy. @seebunlim We really like the size of the ship. It is a perfect size. We also do not like the mega ships. She is not yet at full capacity. Many are waiting until we set sail. The Life at Sea debacle has many fearful.
There will be windows for eating at the buffet and restaurants. Example: breakfast may be available from 7-10 in buffet and dining room from 9 -11...exact times have not yet been confirmed.

She is an oldie but a goodie. They have done so much work, and they will continue to restore her to her former glory as we sail. Probably the only way to make it more affordable than the over a million dollar other option...

You can purchase or "rent" a segment. Segments can be between 30-120 days. You can check out the Villa Vie website and see the break down of the segments.
How many "guests" live permanently on the ship?
Too soon to say. I think max capacity is in the 900's. We have maybe 150ish on board now if I had to guess.

Yes!!! Since we are still not cruising, and it is technically a construction site....coveralls for a bit longer. Uniforms to come!!
I've seen better food and more luxurious surroundings on a car ferry! Noone is staying on board yet. The "villa" is a tiny cramped old fashioned cabin. I hope you guys can extricate yourselves from this when it goes pear shaped
The food has been so amazing! We did 3 other cruise lines in the past 3 months and the flavors on the Villa Vie crush the others.
Some rooms are small, but I would sleep on the floor if I meant we could travel the world. This is what we can afford, so we are thankful.
Honestly, I have to say it's quite enviable.

We are in the water, but still passing inspections and getting certifications. We are not sleeping on board, just spending all day aboard.
Some have, most not yet...they plan to upgrade while at sea is what they said.

I've done a World Cruise, 102 days on PRINCESS in 2009, and a pic/blog on Cruise Critics, had over 400,000 hits, "Capt Bill's World Cruise." But this will make mine seem like a one week puddle jump! 😂

Ours is smaller, but we can't afford more...hence starting the TH-cam. Just grateful to be able to travel the world...in it for the long haul!!!

Ha! That is what they call them...we try to remember to say villa when filming. The interior options make it more affordable for people like us. We would probably sleep on the floor if it meant we could travel the world.

I am tempted to buy in, but the food thing really concerns me. I get gourmet food at home, spouse is outstanding cook, so I would want them to be happy.
Have you cruised before on main stream cruises? IE Carnival, Princess, Royal, Norwegian, MSC etc? If you have, I can honestly say the food on the VV is better!!! We have been on 3 other lines in the past three months, and VV is way better. I can not compare to high-end lines like Viking though. I have been pleasantly surprised 3 days in a row, so we are thrilled. Maybe consider renting a segment and try it out.

@@kanashawnee Lower the room, less motion!!! We initially booked on 3, but due to renovations we are on 4. As avid cruisers, anything higher on a smalll ship would be too much motion for Steve. He does tend to get sea sick in bigger waves. Thankfully the less expensive rooms are lower, too!
@@MidLifeCruising95 Good to know! That is one of my concerns. As a child, I used to get car sick. As an adult, I tend to get sea sick. I used to be a scuba instructor, and had no problems diving from shore, or from a boat under perfect conditions. Otherwise, it was all over for me! Then in my late 40's, I started getting severe vertigo. I still deal with it off and on, though not quite as bad or frequently. Finally just got diagnosed with Meniere's disease in my left ear. One of my concerns, having never even been on a cruise ship!
@@kanashawnee Wow, that is a lot to figure out! Steve only gets sick in rougher waters. We will see how this smaller ship fares. Hopefully we can report back that she glides smoothly!! In the mean time, maybe try a mid-size cruise and see how you do.

There are rooms still available. They are renovating an entire deck so more rooms will come available in the future, too.

They are replacing some areas. Flooring is always last. We still have lots of workers on board renovating, so more carpet upgrades to come!

No, not at all. We boarded! We got to move in, unpack, decorate, and enjoy everything on the ship. We do not have a sail date, a departure date, or word when we can sleep on board. We did indeed, have a boarding day. We will be sure to clarify in the next video!

I hear ya....seems a little sketch. We have met the owners and have frequent meetings. It appears worse to outsiders than to us on the inside.
It's a room not a villa. It's a nice room and a fun adventure but not a villa by any stretch

The stateroom is our bedroom, the ship is our home. You should see my back yard!!!! We can't afford the balconies or suites, but we are truly thankful we can even be on board.

It is. We are still at the shipyard and work going on all over the place. It will probably continue after we sail as well. She's an oldie but a goodie, and all us old gals need a tune up and constant work.
@@MidLifeCruising95 In the end- you've had a mini vacation and I've enjoyed your attitude and excitement. I just don't think that the Villa Vie is seaworthy and there will be constant issues with this older ship. At least VVR has paid your out of pocket expenses while this is going on but it can't go on much longer- or they'll be forced to abandon ship.
