@@GBGuns You could do a video on the best carry holster or your favorite holster for your k100. I just bought one and have no idea as to a holster for it.
Holsters are very much a personal preference. I couldn't fathom the lie that any "best" holster video would be. For my comfort threshold, carry position, clothing and body style Crossbreed has been the best for daily carry. The one tip I have on them is that the Founder's leather is worth the upgrade.
I used to carry one as a PPW as an off duty soldier, in Northern Ireland. We were trained to cock the gun using the edge of the pocket , if needed to return fire fast, they were issued to The off duty Royal Irish Soldiers both Part time or full time who were under very heavy threat if being shot
The aesthetics of the P5 are just absolutely incredible - I'm in love with it's looks... Are you an officer in Germany? When I was in Deutschland (2017 Köln and München) I saw several police officers with P99 pistols. It was awesome to see police carrying it - I love the design and I own one here in the USA - but police here unfortunately don't carry them much.
I had that gun during my police days in amsterdam. Bit heavy but accurate. Especially in single action it is easy. Double action is rather heavy on the trigger exposing any flaws in shooting technique. We used the action 3 rounds. A hollowpoint with a green plastic tip. In the round is a small hole that via the gas of the explosion lets the green tip front run the bullit. The green tip was to prefect feeding mall functions. For working on the street it has some nice safety features. The heavy double action helps to prevent accidental discharges. The fall safety is the same. And if the barrel gets pushed in it will not fire. And another bonus is that if you run out of ammo its heavy enough you could trow it at a suspect and still win the fight 😁
Great review! The Walther P5 is a direct descendant of the Walther P38, P1, and P4 Pistols. Note that they all eject to the left. Currently, I have three P38's, one WWII and two post war pre-P1 P38's along with a PPK/S .380 and a P99AS. Would love to add a P4 and P5 to my collection. Considering getting a PPQ.
That's a damn fine Walther collection sir - much respect. I gotta beef up mine - so many amazing Walthers to love and drool upon... I love my my P99 - fantastic pistol.
I've had a couple P88's they are great pistols! Managed to hold on to one that's still new in the box, the serial number starts with "007" I have to believe it was intentional on Walther's part.
Only the Dutch police used the P5, the military in that time used the Browning HP. Dutch police replaced the P5 with the Walther P99, military changed to Glock17..
Mr Baates I just want to say I really appreciate this video series you have. You've introduced lots of cool looking and less well known guns, which helps me a lot in finding my next projects as a 3D weapons artist. Keep up the good work.
The P7 and P5 sit at the same table at lunch! I'm envious of your P7M8, a truly unique and gorgeous pistol, yet completely valid for self defense. H&K outdid themselves. I would trade a kidney for a P7K3.
@@milkapeismilky5464 Dude I didn't know the P7K3 existed until I read your comment! Mind blown... That's so cool - thank you for posting. I don't need two kidneys either... ha ha. The two go together so well and are amazing - the P7M8 and P5... Very cool, refined shooters.
I recall lusting after a P5 almost twenty five years ago just for the cool factor (I still have the Shooting Times 9mm comparative article), when it was all said and done I lucked into an almost as unobtainable P88. Good luck finding a holster! ;-) Hard to believe my little Ruger LC9S has the same round capacity as the Walther. The P5 is still the the truck gun for air cooled Porsche owners!
I carried a P-5 9mm as an investigator and found it to ge very accurate and 100% reliable. This is an outstanding defense pistol, a good friend wanted it so sold the gun to him, Milt Sparks IWB and mag carrier. That was decades ago, now looking for one, lament its passing. Excellent weapon, highly endorsed if you can find one. Thanks, saw your channel and reviews of the P5 had to subscribe.
Bought one a few years ago. I think I payed under $500. I see them for sale in the thousands now. So glad I picked it up without a second thought. It’s a very well engineered gun.

@@nigel900 Nigel, I never considered that the P5 was Walther's best pistol... That's a seriously interesting perspective. I'm going to be thinking about this for days now...
This is probably one of the best looking pistols of all time.... what a shame Walther does not offer these in a little more modern configuration... everyone still loves P226 or CZ75s, why not this? :)
Agreed. Updated a little, G10 grips, maybe a stainless version, replaceable night sights. That would be a nice little carry piece. Perhaps not the most optimized Tactical handgun, but more than enough for most needs.
The SCCY: DBG bust out the norms. Offering all the P3 65 has, the hellcat because it’s made in USA 10+1 flat trigger, striker fired now and it’s half the price of the Sigg and the Springfield.
Funny thing about the left side ejection port is that it would be better for right handed shooters as it is already in their right hand so they can just turn it to the side and rack the slide to clear the jam with the help of gravity
Love the way the P5 handles. I'd say it's Sig-like... but with more of a Beretta 92's shooting characteristics. Now I need to find a P88 that's not a fortune...
Huge Walther fan, I’ve always wanted a P5 Compact with the American style magazine release and wood grips. Fun fact, it was in the Bourne Identity in the agencies field box
Very interesting pistol! I sure would love to have one in my safe! Thanks GBguns for another awesome video, and history lesson! Oh question! Who did you mug to get rounds for it? Lol ammo becoming very rare, probably close to the endangered species list! Becoming worth its weight in gold too! Lol
GB Guns ik you love Walthers and so do I but pleaseeeee do a Walther PP Super 9x18 Ultra, it’s a rare weapon to find but you can shoot .380 through it!
I bought mine from Souther Ohio Gun suppliers when I worked at a gun store in Miami in 2005. It was an ex W. German police pistol and came with 2 mags, one leather single mag holder with snap and the original police holster with a double snap flap over gun which swiveled so the holstered gun would be down while standing and swivel back when sitting in police car. It was.overall in used but almost unfired condition. Loved it so, so much and carried only sometimes believing if something would occur, ( self defence) It would be taken from me for investigation and never seen again. I lost it anyway when arrested in 2011 and useless ex girlfriend and her despicable family took it and many others from my collection and possibly sold them for next to nothing. Some people deserve every bit of bad that ever happens to them, because bad people deserve only bad things.
It’s not an ex Dutch military pistol It’s an ex Dutch police pistol. It replaced by the Walther p99 qa. The Dutch military had the browning hipower that’s replaced by the Glock 17
@@GBGuns I have big hands, so it didn't lay good in my hands. And besides that....Within 50 meters the distance could be effective, but as soon as the target was even a little further, it was a disaster. The magazines, with 8 bullets, were very small. So you had to reload a lot during exercises on the shooting range . I once shot a Glock 17, was way better gun.

Petition Walther to make these again. I'd buy one for sure if they did.
Maybe if it was double stack
Hell yes - sign me up!
Such a beauty. But it did malfunction often enough for the Dutch police to stop using it...
They won't even make the P99 anymore.
This channel is morphing into the "Forgotten Weapons Channel". That's not a bad thing.

Walther has had a lot of good innovations throughout their history. I would like to see a modernized version of this gun.
