I bought my waverunners used. When I checked the oil dry It was barely on the dipstick and added a bunch of oil. Only to find out when I started it that it was coming up into the airbox, which is by design if it's overfilled. Basically I got lucky I noticed this before taking on the lake like what happened to you. Like you said...good news you didn't damage anything.

I have an 05, fill new oil up just passed low level and then run it. check again when hot, if you fill it to the Full mark you have too much oil in it.The dipstick is not very reliable. If you check it while in the water when engine is hot it will be level and more accurate.

When i purchased my 2007 VX1100 cruiser, the dealer had done an oil change on it. Prior to me taking it out i checked the oil - well over filled. Likely they did the oil change without the ski been warmed up to operating temp. I took out about 1 litre and she was good to go. You will never drain all the oil during a oil change in these. Run to operating temp on the hose, then suck out as much as possible from the oil tank, then add the same amount you took out. Run to operating temp and check the level. Done :)

Oil level check on these machines is when oil is super hot
Basically check it after you ride
Next ride if no oil in hull it’s still inside engine 💪💪

I just bought an 2020 EXR. The TR-1 engine has two separate places to suck out the oil. The TR-1 (not the same engine as yours) holds 3.6 quarts of oil. I was able to suck 2 quarts out of the dip stick hole. There was a second dedicated tube that you have stick a tube down to remove another 1 quart from the engine crankcase. Since the motor uses a dry sump, you can't just assume adding 2 quarts is enough. You should measure how much is removed to make sure you don't overfill it. I'm guessing the VX's oil system is similar to the EX and requires more than one location to drain the oil.

What kind of bad symptom you notice because of too much oil?

Mine was smoking like cheech and chong were in there having a party. I am positive this is what I did as well. Way too much oil.

You can remove the drain plug and remove all the oil out

I learned the same way… you need to hook up water hose. Run engine until hot then check the oil. It has to be hot. Suck a bunch out first. The oil definitely traveled through the intake out to the air box from the engine. May run some seafoam through throttle body. I took the restrictor out behind throttle body and put uni foam air filter directly onto the throttle body from another TH-cam video along with a exhaust reroute. Mine runs good after this treatment and way more bottom end!!!! Run engine before service every time or oil will seem very low…
P.s. before winter blow air from a compressor into water hose inlet that’s next to the back of oil tank on drivers side to get water out of the engine. Freezing will cause the water bottle effect and expand in the engine.

ok so do these come stock with a water hose connection because I have looked everywhere and can find one,

yep, is the little cap attached to the oil tank. Unscrew it. But you will need the correct fitting to plug in there...@@BTKSPENCE
