Along with the incredible instrumentals of this group, I love the fact that Chris never seems to take himself too seriously. His sense of humor usually shines through.
I saw these guys in Boston in February and, along with Tool, they're the best band I've ever seen live. They're all masters of their instruments and it looks like they actually enjoy playing together. It's impossible not to dance and just feel happy while watching them. Chris and Noam are hysterical in person.
Man, I started out thinking was gonna *hate* this - I mean, the FIRST concert I ever went to was The Cars (!) - and about 30 seconds into it I was going... hmmmm...ok.... and, y'know - it works. These guys clearly love the song, and - wow, they make it work. Bowing to you guys - this is SO unlikely and yet SO - yeah. Just what I needed - 'spect.
The only issue is every time I see them, I think the guitar player has never played a Strat or a Les Paul in his life. It’s been all B-flat phyrgian his whole life.
That fiddle solo really matched Elliot Easton's killer solo from the original song. I love how Noam's banjo takes the place of Greg Hawkes' synth.
Props to his guy for knowing the members of the cars and punch bros on sight by name. That's quite a feat!

Wow! The banjo taking the place of the synth is smart, and works very well
i always loved this!!!
The underrated knowledge of this songs cover is a crime to humanity!

RIP, Ric. I love this cover, but the original sometimes ends up being just what I needed.
Noam Pikelny is a friggin' champ.

They're like bluegrass musical geniuses, wait, they are bluegrass musical geniuses.

Awesome. The Cars' cover works with this band.
First video I saw after searching "The Cars cover." Very pleased!
The Cars were an incredibly original group. Benjamin Orr and Ric Ocasek would have enjoyed this performance immensely.

Awesome cover! RIP R.O.
This has a lot more punch (no pun intended) and life when played live with a good audience. They rocked it in Asheville.

When the rhythm section changes to the 1s and 3s at 3:29 just like The Cars ("Time, Time!"); so perfect.
Very well done lads! I'm a big Cars fan and I'm sure the guys in the band approve of your rendition of one of their most iconic songs.

One of those covers that destroys the original cuz it's so good 😍
I wouldn't go THAT far!!!
How does that banjo man pick so gosh darn fast?
He's regarded as one of the top four or five banjo players in the world, which is even more amazing as he is only forty years old.
This is a live performance, right? No auto-tune, etc....
Yes
They look like characters from a Guy Ritchie movie
oh shit yeah
We need more of this...RIP Ben, Ric....
Need a LOVE button.
Tool Pneuma brought me here, and I’ll be honest, I don’t damn hate it!

I don't care what anyone says, Tom Hanks is the guy playing banjo dad.
talk about destroying a song oooof
it is not ridiculously good. it is ok.
Well played but just doesn't cut it. Vocal poor.
disagree
Totally disagree. Right in Thile's range
NICE reinterpretation ! Like the violin and banjo.
