They probably didnt clear the covers and they're not under fair use and not cleared with the artists and not making enough money to pay to keep them up
Such a shame these were all removed, use to spend hours on AV clubs page. I remeber when I couldn't find this at one point and had to download a MP3 torrent of it off some website. Glad it's around TH-cam again, amazing cover and defintly needs to be heard.
This version had emotional weight to it that the original lacked. The original was always a guilty pleasure that reminded me of childhood. This version felt bigger and more grand! It delivered nostalgic feelings that went beyond just childhood. It made me think of things and ppl from my teens and into early adulthood. The hair on my arms stood up! Amazing vision and execution of a song I am sure these guys could have easily mailed in and still been celebrated!
I love this version, but I'm not sure the original lacked emotional weight. If you know the backstory of Doug Hopkins (who wrote this as well as all of the band's early hits), the original actually feels quite heavy. A glossy, hooky pop tune juxtaposed against the dark tragedy that was it's author's life.
I liked it but i think with the chorus they tried to make it "cool" thinking that it was a lame song even though its a really beautiful and tragic one considering the guy who wrote it died and this was their eulogy to him. If it was performed by an indiepop band 10 years before it came out it wouldve been a hit. I did like the first instrumental section bc it gave it a cool almost Dinosaur Jr like vibe somewhat similarly to how the song already was but with more oomph. I really didn't like the chorus part though thats the best part of the original imo
OH SWEET BABY JESUS THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS BACK UP ON THE INTERNET! LOVE THIS COVER!!!
I'll never understand why AV Club killed all the old uploads from Undercover. Most of them were awesome.
Cuz they suck.
It’s really frustrating. Someone should email them and ask if they could be restored.
probably copyright
Something to do with copyright

So happy to see this again. Worried that it would be gone forever. Thanks John for putting this up!

Thank you for reposting!!!
Thanks for putting this up!
Thank you so much for uploading this...... was so depressing this has been MIA for years...... it is SOOOOO Good
I'm just glad they let me post it. Feels like half the stuff I post gets pulled for copyright
Y'all know AV Undercover is back? Crazy times
So we all agree? Best av club undercover?
Thanks for this upload. Please don't take it down!
You know how on Master Chef, they take a classic dish and deconstruct it to make a new spin on it? That's THIS....but as a song.
I really like this song
If I had to guess, it's probably a rights/license thing that makes them take it down.
It’s pretty awesome
HOLY SHIT IT'S FINALLY BACK UP, THE BEST COVER IN THE WHOLE SERIES!!
yes

Damn he really gets going at the end!
Thank you!!!
What's the song he says they didn't show enough "reveence" for in a past clip?
Troubled Hubble, "Things can only get better". I love this one too!
holy shit cursive is incredibly underrated.
That’s the way to take smooth, over produced 90s pop and kick it in the arse
beautiful, kinda hair-raising!
"Just might be found..."
Great cover ruined by overartistic precious. Still love Cursive for giving some home state love
Dude ikr I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't help but notice
Skip to 1:30 for the song

If anyone ever asks you to define "noise rock", just send them this. :)
First time watching. I LOVE Cursive. But this cover just sucks.
This is horrible
Thanks for checking in, Hairy Steven!
@@DJR032783 no problemo, everyone needs honesty. Even if its not what you want to hear
It was okay
Agreed idk what people are hearing that they enjoy. This is a jumbled mess and sound quality is trash.
