Chris Harris, Jonny Smith, and Alex Kirsten. Presenting and road testing.
Guest appearances from Chris Cooper, maybe Jethro Bov.. and Taylor Hetherington for some dodgey car dealing antics.
Written by Richard Porter, and Manish Panday.
      Directed by Neil Carey.
Initially bankrolled by Neil Clifford, Edward Lovett. I'm sure Luca and Bernie have some spare cash needing to put towards a project. Not needing to be worried by production organisations...especially lefty woke ones..
Go on adventures in wonderful cars. Challenges, projects, barn finds, road trips, Pink or Brown...And of course have some fun and games with little shit boxes.
First episode.. GT cars from the 90s.
Vantages, Ferrari 456 Manuels, Sultan spec SL73. Of course Manish can keep the 456 Manuel after filming. :D.
Ditch the EVs because even the big car manufacturers are starting the admit they're not financial viable without Gov subsidies.
      Have fun.

Investing in a luxury supercar like a Lamborghini can be an exciting but intricate financial decision. The value of these cars can appreciate over time, making them potential assets. However, maintenance costs and depreciation should be considered.

How about the Lancia 1960 Flaminia that has 2 rear window wipers outside but what was even more interesting is the 2 internal rear window wipers to wipe off internal condensation on the rear window. So four wipers is the most impressive way to clean the rear window.

I have a 1991 Toyota Sprinter Trueno Gt Apex 20v (the best jdm car to ever be produced in my humbe opinion) has the best rear wiper, however you hardly ever need to use it. The aerodynamics of the car keep the rear window dry. And it's easy to use, just twist the wiper stalk.

The trend for post box shaped windows in cars today (low roof lines), has rendered rear wipers ineffective. The blade can only be about 5 inches long, and can therefore wipe a tiny proportion of the screen.
Personally, I love rear wipers, My ML wipes the scree very well, and automatically wipes when I reverse when I have my windscreen wipers on....this is truly useful, as is the dipping passenger door mirror when reversing....practical items.
I always replace all three of my wiper blades annually when the frosts finish, so I have never experienced Neil's issue of non-working rear wipers.

Totally agree about the early starts. I used to make sure I was in mid Wales (from Cardiff) Elan Valley in my Lotus well before 9am. Have your fun then head home quietly when the others are only just heading out. Ps for Neil nice stop off for trip to mid Wales is the Honey Cafe at Talgarth. Coast destinations in Mid Wales would be Aberaeron (Hotel on front for food) or lovely New Quay. We once drove from home near Cardiff to the hotel just for breakfast before then heading to Saundersfoot for a weekend break (would have only taken us 1.5hrs down the M4 but took the long route and far better roads…as you do).

    Two-car garage for next week.
As it’s a recession year, you’re looking for two ‘under the radar’ cars - which won’t attract too much attention on the road. One must be a coupé / two doors (no convertibles), and the other a four-door saloon or SUV. As you are a very successful entrepreneur, the budget is unlimited. Both cars must on sale today / new, as safety is a concern. Choose the paint colours wisely.

Range Rover L405 rear wiper is ingenious in its operation quite frankly! Press the button, wash followed by a wipe then another wash (even tho you only pressed the button once)and a few wipes and then rest’s in the opposite position, then wipes again to remove drips! I believe this is called a smart wash/wipe. Also if front wipers set to auto then if they have been activated by rain when you select reverse the rear wipes automatically too!!
Ford Transit/Tourneo Connect has wipers that are opposing ie, go to both A pillars from the middle. This also does the automatic select reverse wipe function. The best engineered wiper has to Mercedes-Benz eccentric sweep mono wiper found on the R129’s, W201, W204, W210, W202 and W208 (CLK) Models also. I am lucky enough to own all of the above vehicles so I am in wiper heaven Lol 🤘🏼😎

Agree with Chris about driving to Portsmouth in the 90's, much more a pleasurable experience than it is now. Re rear windscreen wipers: I used to daily a Lancia Delta Intergrale Evo 1, with the rear roof spoiler set at almost a right angle to the roof line, obviously the only way to run it, in wet conditions the water being sucked up off the road behind the car was such was such massive cloud that the puny rear windscreen wiper had no chance of creating any rear visibility. Also other drivers running behind would be swamped in a huge rooster tail of spray 😙🚗💦💦💦💦

It's so hard to find a road to enjoy free flowing driving (not treating it like a race track as some idiots do).
Manish said about passing through Headington, where I live, to get to the Cotswolds, but hit traffic and the road restrictions for safety, and then you feel like the kids walking the treadmill in 'another brick in the wall'.

Manish, I couldn't agree with you more. I had a Monaco watch that ran impeccably, and despite the fact that I went surfing in it, wore it everywhere, in pools, skied (high altitude), etc, the watch was amazing. Then, for some unknown reason, I was persuaded to "get it serviced" as one of my mates said it would devalue.
I collected the watch, went to Ibiza and was in the pool, and dipped my hand in, for 5 mins, and it was full of water! All those years - no issues, first service, and the link leaks like the Titanic. I barely wear the watch now.

Latest gen Fiesta has a small switch on the end of the wiper stalk with two speeds of intermittent. Not very exciting except a quick flick on and off produces a single swipe which is extremely satisfying. Especially on a grimey wet winter day like today.

    Two car garage:
    Real life,
Lots, and I mean lots of hard work and a bit of luck paid of and now a 10 y/o boy inside me is the happiest boy in the world becuase he will be able to assamble a dream two car garage (he never wanted anything more).
He first fell in love with a car when he saw a sexy, bright red Maserati Granturismo that roared past him. My god that noise.... That day it was all over for him and his future wallet.
The boy grew up as a real peteolhead, loving analog cars, manuals, naturally aspirated engines, hydraulic steering, etc. He always imagined actually driving the hell out of cars, rwd and awd. He knows a lot about the industry and the history of the brands. He learned to respect it and love it.
Now that boy is a 30 y/o who has a budget of around 1 mil. I love to ski, it is an essential. I grew up whatching crazy Jon Olsson putting a Thule on Lamborginis and going skiing while doing donouts on snow and ice. Well, I intend to be a bit more civilised becuase I can have two cars in which I can do donouts, one to put a Thule on and go skiing, to often go travel with friends/familly, a practical car but it has to be something with petrolhead blood in it, something really cool and most importantly something that is a dream to drive. I have to mention, I have a thing for estates, I really am not into this whole SUV thing. I mean all the roads in the Alps are nicely mantained to be honest, theres no need for a stupid SUV.
The second car sould be a dream poster sports or super car, no hyper car. Manual, as analog as it gets yet modern if there's such a thing. I dont have a problem with older cars either, contrary. Engine that makes the sky shake! A car that does not exceed 500/600hp. I could not care less for top speed, I care for driving pleasure. Something under the radar perhaps. A sunday car.
If possible it would be good to have some money saved in order to invest in a garage itself, why not.
    Go on!
English is not my native language, sorry for the possible mistakes.
Thanks for possible suggestions and cheers

Manish is right about the Ferrari movie. I didn’t learn anything about Enzo and there didn’t seem to be any change in his character by the end. In a way it had similar failings to Napoleon. Its focus was split between a love story and a battle (in this case a battle of 1000 miles) but lacked dramatic unity and integration. I’m glad he picked up on that piece of music from the Insider. Shoehorned. Chris also right about the big crash at the end - felt quite tastelessly handled. Perhaps they run out of money on the CGI budget? In any case it is the least ‘Michael Mann’ Michael Mann film, which is shame because his contribution to cinema has been epic.

Short trips, cold garages, starting up and moving around the garage puts a lot of fuel into the oil IMO.
I have never 'run-in' a car, and never had a problem (oil consumption etc). I find that they are always faster cars if you spank them from new.

The new savagegeese video might be of interest. Not had the time to listen to it myself however appears to be 2 hours of car and hifi chat between a car guy and an audio guy.

Absolutely love the podcast but from someone who listens to it in the car driving whilst at work (community nurse) you’d think that after 48 episodes you’d realise that not everyone watches on TH-cam and so when you’re showing each other photos and pictures it can be a little frustrating not being able to see them!
Also, worst rear wipers have got to be any Audi from 2005-2012 era and Volvos as well. Always droop eventually and look crap when sitting on bodywork.
    Keep up the great work.👍

Enjoyed seeing Chris Cooper’s sausage, with apt number plate, at the - fantastic - scramble on Sunday. Slightly disappointed it was on PS4 not Cup 2s … but it was chilly… Keep up the good work, these chats bring a lot of joy to a great many people. Must be many folk around the country like myself chuckling / nodding in agreement throughout the topics. Thank you 🏁

Topic suggestion; how to accept EPS (Electronic Power Steering). THE most important part of contact with the automobile has gone from tactile to disconnected, and making any enjoyment, at legal speed, difficult. How to get over this? I for one cant seem to enjoy anything made after ~2010-12 due to this...

Guys, can you do a tribute to Alpina at one of your coffee mornings. As you know 2024 is the last full year of the Alpina brand. I know you all love them, I own one and it would be amazing to get as many as possible together towards the end of the year to celebrate the brand.

Here is a question to discuss: what is high milage?
Different cars bought for different use cases will have different ranges of attractively low or average milage. For others, old Mercs in particular, the higher the miles shown on the odometer and the more attractive it becomes almost like a badge of honour.

The last two cars I’ve owned (both German) have both had inoperable rear windscreen washers. The pump motor whirs away, but there’s no fluid. So I daren’t touch it in case it’s pouring out into the headlining 🤣

The Sunday Scramble was my first car meet as a fairly new driver. Took my mate and me to it in my shitbox Renault Clio Billabong spec😂 and it was the most fun I've had in a car so far. We purchased ourselves some lovely TWAT glasses that made us look even more like twats if that was even possible so thanks a lot for that Chris! I can't wait for the next one. What an event!

RS2 has separate washer reservoir behind a side panel in the boot/trunk. Agree the rear wiper operation is silly on that - they improved it on the subsequent model (ie B5 A4). I can’t agree with newer is always better though. Enjoying the pod gents 👍

It’s 1995 and you are a successful American banker living a double life in Tokyo. By day you need a car to be driven in that will impress both your clients and the general public, but be careful. This is the heyday of the Yakuza, and a large black limousine may give off the wrong impression. By night, you are an avid drifter and need a competitive yet discreet car to smoke the competition without being recognised. There are no practical concerns at all and no budget, so feel free to explore tuning possibilities. Discuss.

    I’m always looking at older 911s .
Some of them say rear wiper delete , as if it’s a plus point !
    They are essential !
    Who
Gives a shit what they look like .
    EDIT: definitely do a hi-fi episode 👍🏻
