funny enough in the manga the Crossbone X2 Custom was not meant to have a Core Fighter as it lost it after the main protagonist hijacked it and used it as an escape craft to escape the Jupiter Empire thus forcing the Jupiter Empire engineers to built a new cockpit and backpack from scratch when they reused the X2.
Weird question. What do you do with the built models when you are done? Do they get put into their box forever? Do you have a display around USA Gundam Store? Banished to the Shadow Realm? I've always wondered this....
Technically x2 and x2 kai use different long rifles. X2 used the identical one from F90 mission packs, while X2 kai's rifle was supplied by the Jupiter Empire.
I really like how sleek and simple these designs are. A lot of newer mobile suit designs are a little too "busy" for my tastes. While I don't shy away from the more modern designs, I do find myself gravitating more to the 80s and 90s designs.

It kinda sucks that Bandai didn't redesign the kit for the X-2 Kai. Additionally, only the X-1 Kai ever has the screw whips equipped (it is part of what makes it the X-1 Kai). None of the other Crossbone Gundams ever have the screw whip.
With the acrew whips it is because while the original retail X1 is named as such, it can be turned into the X1 Kai with the extra whips and backskirts. And those just got carried over to every single MG Crossbone release (even though canonically X1 Kai and it's upgrades/derivatives being the X1 Kai Kai Skullheart, X1 Patchwork, and X1 Full Cloth should have it). It would have been nice to have a distinct new body that's accurate with no core fighter but I guess that's a lot of work and you can just glue it in if you want the proper in lore spec, same thing happened with the new RG Impulse Spec II's where they just reused the existing SEED Destiny RG Impulse complete with the core splendor and transforming feature. (SEED Freedom Impulse is rebuilt by Compass to be a single MS with no transforming/separating feature)

He’s said that some of them he puts back in the box for painting later, and others he just sells

Neat to see this video up now. Been working on MG X-1 Full Cloth lately. Still annoyed that X0 didn't have the Action Base adapter used here.

Cuz Bandai knows that people will buy it anyway because it's crossbone gundam so they never bother redesigning it
