When was the last time you saw a 1st generation Ford Explorer that looked this nice? Also, any other movie/TV cars you'd like to see me film with? And I was just reminded that the fake vent in this 2WD Explorer is where the 4x4 switches go on the 4WD version. It's like a fancy blank switch panel!
Thank you for the epic video of my car, Ethan. Bravo!!!! A perfect balance of focusing on the pristine condition and the modifications. I never thought about it, but that truly is a massive switch blank. It is bizarre, for a car with a large cabin designed to haul families, that there is a sole center air vent.
I saw a first generation Explorer Sport Trac about a week ago pulling jet skis with decals that looked like they were from the 90's. The Explorer and jet skis were immaculate. It was like a time capsule.
I have a 1993 ford explorer that is 4×4 and I have been working on restoring it I also plan on doing the same thing this man done with his explorer I jest love the way this looks but before I do I will have too fix the back door because it's messed up will not shut right but that will not stop me
I love how the owner preserved the vehicle's history as a car while making it a source of nerdgasm. This video made me so happy. I've loved dinosaurus since I was a kid and later learned to appreciate classic cars.
Dude, great job as always. I was diggin the metaphor of how common Explorers were to the dinosaurs. Than when you said you’re heading to the museum, I was like, woo hoo, it’s old school Hello Road again with a road trip. Well done and I loved it.
I've had the pleasure to see this car in person a few times. Even got to be in the Christmas parade with it and the Star Cars gang (we were in our Goldeneye Z3 replica). Its as clean in person as this video shows. An amazing survivor and it's clear that Ryan loves it.
1992 Ford Explorer: the station wagon of the 90s. Man, I remember car magazines being blown away with how "car like" these were in their day. Hard to believe now. My guess is a modern Explorer would likely dwarf this one, too.
Lol. The bubble roof is the exact first thing i noticed.. still cool though that someone saved one of these.. period.. i mean it's a first gen explorer.
To all hello road subscribers... seriously let's get Ethan to 100k subscribers by the end of the year! He always provides great quality content, in addition to some humor here and there 😂. #helloroadwegotyourback
It must be fun to have a creative mind. A fantastic & detailed video. Loved the Attack of the Inflatable Dinosaur! 🐉💜 I remember the Explorer's arrival & astronomical sales. Jeep was like, "From where did you come? We have been here all along!"
Using Barney the Dinosaur would have made the intro way more terrifying. I had a Bronco II until it rolled & rolled &... I have an Eddie Bauer windbreaker too. Dusky olive: nice jacket.
People talk about the history of Toyota/Lexus or even the Chrysler company Jeep Grand Cherokee bringing the SUV to the market. But honestly growing up as kid in the late 80s and early 90s. It was the Ford Explorer that I saw in alot of Americans driveways by the 90s. Especially with Jurassic Park. It put the Ford Explorer on the Map. And then later the Mercury Mountainer. Cash for Clunkers was just a big scam. I saw so many nice older Cadillac, Lincolns etc go to waste just because people wanted the money or a newer car.
Excellent video! I love the look of this car. This version, with the Jurassic Park customization, is very nostalgic. Thw owner was pretty smart to preserve the original aspect of the vehicle, by not cutting it, or modifying the interior. This unit is in a very good shape.
Ethan, I would like to see the Plymouth Satellite police station wagon from "Moonrise Kingdom" on your channel if that isn't asking too much. And yes, I wear an Eddie Bauer winter coat that I bought in 1996.
I learned to drive on a 1992 Wild Strawberry (Amazing Red) Eddie Bauer 2wd Manual. Was a great car, sold for a 2000 Red Eddie Bauer Explorer 2wd... Why mess with a good thing was my folks' mantra I guess... 😆
Ive seen this thing in North Orange County driving around a dozen times, its almost impossible to miss in a sea of grey, white, silver crossover suv bubbles
Ethan, can you tell us why it has Eddie Bauer seats but XLT badging on the outside? Also the picture you showed of it before the transformation didn't look like an Eddie Bauer either. They had two tone paint schemes. Does it say it is an Eddie Bauer model on the window sticker? Also that is the original plate. 1992 saw the end of the 2 series and the beginning of the 3 series on the California plates. I remember it well.
It's definitely an Eddie Bauer-shows on original window sticker. There is indeed two tone paint underneath the wrap. Other photos he sent me show it better, bottom color is a lighter tan. I think the owner badged it as an XLT to match the movie car!
@@HelloRoad In March of 1990 Motor Trend sent out a supplemental issue with their regular issue highlighting the new Escorts and Explorers. When I got that I immediately called a friend who worked at a For dealer in Pasadena and ordered the electric blue Escort GT. I got the first one they got and it was car number 238 off the assembly line.
till this day there are some ford expedition full sized SUVs that have the Eddie bauer edition badges on them so there still with Eddie bauer till thos day I noticed honestly
@@HelloRoad good luck , i can't figure out what is wrong with my probe . it's a 1996 2.0 manual . the idle works great until i move the car , it can sit on a parking lot running for 60 minutes i can rev the engine and no problems , and the moment i put into first and move 10 meters , and stop, the idle starts jumping XD
it seems they could simply bolt a bubble top on top of the existing top or just fortify the cut out top with some kind of roll cage. either way it still looks cool. for some reason i thought they used a Mercedes in the film and not the Ford Explorer.
It's actually not even funny how much I want one of these not even to make it a replica just to own one but I've seen a couple and they go for dirt cheap with a round little over 100,000 miles which for 2500 bucks not bad and with minimal surface rust
i swear this generation wasn't around long in my area most of them were junk when i was in highschool 2006, ppl in my area who had these drove them hard and raw the 2nd gen was alot more popular

I'm 23 , just now my birthday, love Eddie Bauer snow jackets! I love Explorers even more up until 2010 models (last Eddie Bauer model and were before the ugly range rover ripoffs, lol)

@@KenaiLykos Yeah this is one of the first gen nicest Explorers left, the owner didn't feel right about cutting it up! So yes, I guess you could say it's more of a tribute car than a replica. :)

It must be a lookalike! This Explorer is rarely in Orange County. You're right: it brightens up the color palette on the road amongst a sea of grey.
