Hi Bonnie! Thank you for this amazing day in the life! The job of us mothers is definitely a hard job, but also a rewarding job. A lot of the time I feel exhausted of the constant repetition every single day. Thank you for showing how we are not alone, and reminding us of the blessing that we have of being able to do this for our family. My oldest daughter who takes geometry had pointed out that Miss Smith was a fellow student. We thought that was fun! My daughter dislikes very much how old the geometry videos are. Hopefully they update it for next year. My other daughter will be taking the class next year. I definitely agree with you in regard to the quizzes and tests. Abeka really does give a lot! My two daughters are taking spanish 1 and 2. I speak fluent spanish, and I agree that the quizzes and tests for spanish are very hard! Well thanks again for your encouraging words and great videos! God bless you guys❤️
Hi Jenny I didn’t realize that your daughter was close to my oldest sons age!I don’t even want to think about 11th grade! 🙄🤣I can’t believe he will be in 11th grade next school year! You are right the geometry videos do look outdated. Maybe Abeka thinks that he is probably one of the best geometry teachers they have. I’m not sure if he still teaches at the Academy or not, but I think he wrote part of the geometry book along with some other men. We are looking forward to Miss Shawna in algebra two next year. I didn’t know you spoke fluent Spanish! That means it must be really easy for you to teach Spanish to your daughters. My hope is to one day learn a good amount of Spanish. My son does really well with pronunciation-much better than I do! how is your daughter doing? I hope she is better. 😊As for us Moms, it’s nice to be able to think that other moms are doing the same thing that we are doing day in and day out and that Mom’s before us have done the same thing. We’ve heard it said before that one day we will miss this. We just have to get past the repetitiveness to finding joy in what we get to do! I hope you’re all doing well! ❄️❄️
@@ahallelujahplace ❤️Yes I have two daughters. One is in 11th grade and the other is in 10th grade like your son. I also have my son who is in 5th grade. Are you planning on attending the graduation in Pensacola? If so, maybe we can meet each other there since our kids will graduate at the same time☺️ We opted to do algebra 1 in 9th grade, algebra 2 in 10th grade, and geometry for 11th grade. It is a handful along with chemistry though. My family is from Puerto Rico but I was born here. Even though I speak spanish, trying to teach my kids the language is like pulling teeth lol🤦♀️ I wish I would have taught them while they were younger. Will you have your kiddos do state testing this year since it’s no longer a requirement in our state? I am still debating whether we should still do it since it comes included with the abeka accredited program.
Thank you for asking about my daughter. That is so kind of you! She is actually showing improvement praise the Lord! She obviously had the parasite for quite some time (maybe up to a year) so it definitely is taking time to get rid of. She took antibiotics 6 weeks ago and I also bought some natural herbs like black walnut and wormwood. It tastes very nasty, but I can see big improvements since she has been taken it. She is slowly regaining her energy and the pain and nausea are subsided. God is so good! I pray everyone in your family is doing wonderful as well❤️
@@jennyortiz3046 I forgot you were in Ohio too! I’m getting old! Yes, we are planning to do the graduation ceremony in Pensacola! I’d love to meet up with you most definitely that would be great! I just need to make sure that I don’t miss the cut off date to request him in the graduation ceremony and all that stuff but I’m sure it will work out! He’s already looking forward to it. Will your older daughter the one who is in 11th grade now will she be graduating there as well? So you will be a pro when it comes to knowing what to do for your second daughter that’s good! It’s hard to think of them graduating soon I’m going to be a basket case and crying! That’s great that your parents are from Puerto Rico. I wish I could travel anywhere outside of United States. My husband has been to South America a couple of times for mission work, but that’s about it. My oldest son wants to travel a lot so I’m hoping he’ll be able to retain some Spanish. I’m also thinking of getting him private lessons with someone local. I think most kids are not very fond of foreign languages, but Josiah happens to love a lot of them. He wants to take French too, but I don’t think Abeka offers that. With state testing, in Ohio, it was never really required I think. It was just an option. So you could take the state testing or you could have the portfolio signed off on. I always chose the portfolio, but this year I think I am going to do some form of testing. I’m not quite sure which test I’m going to use. One of my friends recommended it to me and I can’t remember what it’s called. I have to find out. I wanted them to get used to other tests. That’s really the main point for me, more experience for them. I wouldn’t send it and I would just keep it for the records and for them to get experience. it’s a tough decision. You could continue doing it or opt out of it which ever you would like or your kids.🤣 I think a lot of homeschool parents do the testing because they don’t regularly give their kids tests or quizzes. I am surprised by how many moms that I know that homeschool and never give their children tests or quizzes and if they do, it’s very rarely. In that case they do the state testing at times. So it all depends. Stay warm tomorrow it’s supposed to be -10 over here in South East Ohio. ❄️☃️
@@jennyortiz3046 it makes me so sad to think of her with that parasite for so long. It must break your heart. I also feel as if the doctors should’ve maybe caught it earlier, but at least they have now and now she can begin to heal. Life is hard as it is and to have to go through all that pain, I feel so bad for her. Maybe you could try a probiotic? That might help her gut to get some good bacteria. I hope that she can get rid of the parasite for good and I hope the doctors are going to regularly check her to make sure that it’s gone for good! I will keep praying for her! ❤️ God bless your sweet family!
Thank you, Katelyn! I’m glad you liked it! Definitely need to do an about me video and put in my education! Thanks for commenting and I hope you and your family are doing well! 😊
Sending you lots of positive vibes Mama! This video is just inspiring and so real! Real life stuff, sometimes meal plan happens the day of - it sure does in this house quite often! I’m with you I didn’t have quizzes every other day in school but a quiz would definitely challenge the brain on all the new content for sure! I would probably struggle hard cause I need to hear new information like 7 times to retain it 😅
I’m right with you 7 times repeating, and then it kind of sticks at least for my son. It doesn’t for me since I’m getting older. I think I need like 10 times repeating😆. I think classical conversations repeats the fact seven times in order to remember it! Thanks for the positive vibes from you as well! It’s hard work being a Homeschooling mom but it’s also very rewarding. I keep telling myself to think on the bright side. I just keep chugging along like we moms all do! Thanks for the encouraging comment!💕😊
Thank you for showing real life stuff, this was our first year using Abeka and Oh boy! it has been a challenge lol, my son is also in 10th and we are just trying to stay afloat with some subjects, but we are still pushing forward. So I appreciate you sharing your struggles and how you handle life day to day. God bless
Thank you for commenting! Yes, 10th grade is hard isn’t it!?! But 🤣 But I feel in the end it is so worth the work for my son and me! Have a good week and I have more real life videos coming soon! 😊
Thanks for sharing your day with us and for sharing about the classes your high school student is taking. It really helps seeing how Abeka Academy works in the high school years. Please keep sharing high school videos. My daughter is one year away from starting high school and we are thinking about using Abeka Academy.
The high school years can be some of the best! However, when it comes to work load it picks up quite a bit for the kids and for myself as a Homeschool Mom. I just keep telling myself that they are getting a great education with Abeka! It seems like you are working ahead, which is good! I will try and post more high school videos for you that focus on the High School Curriculum only and how we make it work. Maybe I could follow my son around for a day in his life with his schoolwork. 🤣 Either way I will try and post some thing for you! Thank you for your kind comment! ❄️
@@melissamiranda7322 Hi Melissa, yes, if you want to participate in the ceremony, you have to do accredited the senior year. of course if you don’t want to do accredited and you still use abeka, then you could do a graduation ceremony in your state. In Ohio we have churches and groups that put on their own graduation ceremony, but if you want them to do the graduation walk at Pensacola Christian Academy then they have to be accredited their senior year and have all the necessary credits which is what I’m doing with my children because they want to! You can check on the Abeka website and it shows you high school graduation requirements, course of study for high school etc I hope this answers your question!😊
