    ive played with the scimitar rod before, and like the feel of it. perfect for the trunk rod or new fisherperson rod.

      I was impressed by the guide count & how it felt. And the price wasn't expensive either.

      The Magic L feels like the better rod hands down. Any 3K spinner will do on the short to mid length rods. On the 8ft a 4K. Today i got in the first Handing "Mirage" rod. Amazon sent it to me Express for free as long as i review it. Longer & stronger than the Magic L. So that's good. Magic L for light-medium fare and Mirage for medium-medium large. It's 8'6".

      I just finished my 2nd video of the Handing rods. They're very underrated at the moment as very few field tests have been done. I received the 8'6" MIRAGE (S-862MH). @@dan63631

    Will this reel get messed up while saltwater fishing?

    • @ScubaChris
      @ScubaChris  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You would think so, right? The newer gen replaced a lot of the original plastics to aluminum so you would expect corrosion issues. But it seems to be holding up extremely well. Locals here in Hawaii are constantly exposing these reels to the salt spray but again no issues. I recently viewed a pic from an Italian store where the pic showed stacks of FX reels. They said they sold 140pc the previous week.
      If it was me i'd of course rinse it off after every use & once every couple weeks to a month (depending on usage) just spray the inside with a silicon spray. Seems recently a lot of companies that are known for expensive reels, like Shimano & Daiwa are changing. They're offering cheaper models that actually hold-up! The FX was the 1st i'm aware of for Shimano that fits this. For Daiwa it's the Regalis.

    Hi chris, i was wondering if this would make a good whipping rod

    • @ScubaChris

      As with everything just take care of it. I've heard of some breakages but it have be from those who mis-use their equipment. You want to know my honest opinion on the most rock solid whipping rod for the price? The SST.
      SST "A" CARBON GRIP RODS
      SST-S-962M-CGA-All Purpose up to3/8-1oz-$104.99
      SST-S-992H-CGA-For plugs/jigs 0.5-3oz-$104.99
      The build is like the GSP. I use the 10'6" for distance casting. I just got the 9'9" the other day. Only upper $60's on Amazon w/free shipping. I now have 6 of the SST's. Now i just paid for my new SST. Worth it!

      This is only my personal suggestion. I’ve owned and used over 100 rigs and it’s rare to see breakage from shoddy materials. Only once and the comp agreed and took it off the shelf’s. But cheaper rods do break easier because of lesser quality. Some companies do have exceptionally good pieces better than expected. For what you want for Okuma those SST rods are it. I just bought my 6th one that just arrived. 9’9” H rated at 1/2-3oz. Will be my stickbait and jigging rod for my 1-1/2 to 2-1/2oz lures as my 10’6” and 9’6” med handles my 1oz and below. This is only my personal suggestion as I have a few now including a travel model. No breakages or issues. And going through Amazon is sometimes cheaper and most times with free shipping. That $105 rod with tax was less than $68 with no shipping. Gotta look around as well. Just get what’ll make you happy.

    Why buy cheap Chinese crap when you can get this budget Shimano reel . Used one here in the uk and have had hard fighting pike to 28lb and it was fantastic

      I've heard some good things about this reel, also some "not so good". Hard to appease everyone so i review what is either asked of me or items that come my way. We all learn from others experiences, including yours. Thank you for chiming in:)
