    We passed by on a tour literally within the same 1/2hr of the collapse; i wondered if there were casualties... so was just searching to find out having reviewed our pictures and video. Glad to hear no casualties.

    Must be very unsettling to the ones who crossed it often. I can't imagine.

    It was an Eco Friendly Bridge.. Glue Laminated Wood .. there are more Bridges built like this in Norway.. They Focused more on Form rather than Structure

    Oops, either steel or a weight limit. Wood looks good but needs looking after!

    Very lucky nobody was hurt.....but I do wonder what drove the decision to go with this design and material, after all steel and concrete are tried and true materials....

      There were some totally irresponsible people in the autoroties that, due to their religious orientation, insisted on using "sustainable" materials... just luck is very correct, because the local schoolbus passed the bridge just before the disaster.

      @@andresteinum Here in Ontario Canada we have some very old timber framed railway bridges of bolted construction. But they are not fireproof as we witnessed recently.....!

    Wait, is that wood???? Wood isn't strong enough is it?!

    • @andresteinum
      @andresteinum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, some greenheads in the authorities found it would be smart to use wood for a bridge that thousands of 60 ton lumber roadtrains will pass over...

      @@andresteinum wow, that is unbelievably short sighted, particularly when it is taking so much weight!😳

      @@Lakridza67 absolutely agree!! They now cant afford to rebuild the bridge, and locals are making protests. The old bridge was made of steel, and lasted for 100 years...

      @@andresteinum Are you sure the autorites were greenheads?
      It would make more sense, if these authorities are new norwegians with african roots, which are still prefer swinging across rivers by lianas but had making compromises to decadent western world.
