    Glad to see you're enjoying it. We do have plans for autoTDP control. We just released an unstable build with a new TDP overlay. It's pretty early development but works well on these handhelds for the most part.

    Man the handheld gaming PC market is really starting to shape up. Love to see it.

    • @AdmiralBison
      @AdmiralBison ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I am willing to bet that handheld gaming pcs will surpass laptop and desktop gaming pcs within 10 years.
      Handheld gaming pcs are increasingly more powerful every year that they may eventually become desktop replacements for most people add to that the ability dock them to an eGPU desk set up for more power.
      These are far more portable for gaming on the go than laptops.
      The only thing I see holding back handheld gaming pcs from being the major gaming hardware category is the limits of current battery technology, but that seems to be the bottle neck for many mobile devices and electric car so there is research and investment in next generation batteries that are mean to be superior to lithium ion.

    • @Kaylas1821
      @Kaylas1821 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdmiralBison battery AND cooling. Cooling defines tdp, tdp defines raw power/framerate, along with optimization. It will take years to surpass 3070 with 130w tdp in a small formfactor (and 65w+cpu on top of that).

    • @SeraphX2
      @SeraphX2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AdmiralBison literally impossible. because while hand helds are getting more powerful, desktops aren't slowing down. how is a processor that is twice as big going to not out perform a mobile-sized device? Server grade processors Epyc processors are twice as big as consumer CPUs and ridiculously more powerful. That's just not how things work. Plus what Kaylas said, cooling lowers temp which keeps a cpu from slowing down during operation. you'll never fit an adequate cooling system onto a really fast CPU in a small form factor to get something as fast as a same gen desktop.

I love competition and want more handhelds to compete with the deck, but I think it'll be a few years until I see a device as complete as the deck for a good price.

My SN30 Pro does have input lag playing NES and SNES games. How it's displayed on my Vita is also nicer since the lower resolution is closer to the games' OG resolution.
    For at least 10+ years, my fav was my PSP but not because of gaming. I had it since June 6, 2005 and it was my multimedia player that I traveled with. Was the first to introduce me to Wi-Fi when we were still on Wi-Fi "b" which was slow af to PS3's Wi-Fi "g".
    I believe my Vita slim I got since May 13, 2017 is now my favorite. It's everything the PSP was and much more. Battery life is still rock solid. And I got it second-hand like I did for my Switch Lite I barely got last October 3, 2022.
    I only plan to buy all my gaming gadgets second-hand. I'll scour on OfferUp finding great deals. I don't buy brand new any more with my gaming stuff. I'm no collector. I'm a CHEAPASSGAMER. Once I finish a game, I rarely replay them. So I started buying them used during the PS2 days. I started doing the same for my handhelds by 2017.
    I'll wait to get a Steam Deck once it reaches $200 used on OfferUp. I believe it will get that low by this year. I've never spent more than $300 for a gaming device. The most expensive was that PSP phat I got for $250 ($270+ with taxes). Most of my consoles and handhelds, I got them for $200 or less.
    My second-hand Vita was only $100. I got a Vita OLED for the same price only to sell it 2 days later. My Switch Lite was for $90, it's mint, and it came with BOTW and carrying case. My PS4 was brand new but I only got it for $200 thanks to a $100 credit deal from a Sprint LG G5. My Atari Jaguar was over $300 but that was a 1993 Christmas gift. I was one of the early adopters for that terrible console but I still love it because I owned it for so long and I love underdogs.
    They're just video games. Don't need to spend a fortune on them. Steam Deck won't be beaten until another competitor undercuts them by a lot. Say ASUS releases a $250 handheld with similar specs to the Deck. That will sell like crazy. The sweet spot is closer to $200.
    I've only had problems with the two Asus products I've owned: a Zenfone Go and a Windows 8 hybrid. Where do you go if you start having problems with it? I'll stick to Valve because they have an ecosystem called a Steam account. Gabe Newell is like the George R.R. Martin of the gaming industry. I'll support Gabe.
    Sony and Sega needs to return to making handhelds. I've considered buying a Sega Nomad just for the hell of it and I already have all the Genesis games on my smartphones, Vita, and Switch. If Sony won't make a Vita successor, make one for the Xperia Play. The future in gaming are handhelds. Bye to home consoles.

      I wish I held onto my PS Vita - I was a bit younger and didn't realise the capabilities back then (specifically emulation, homebrew etc). The customisation it allowed for was pretty amazing, it's nice that it's finally getting the recognition it deserves. Definitely a slept on console. I've been considering picking up the deck now but it's difficult to justify seeing as I have a switch already. Obviously two totally different devices but I've been setting money aside for a new gaming laptop, so I might just go with that instead and watch how the handheld market develops over the next year or two

    I'm still trying to wrap my head around why anyone would want to replace Windows with Linux on ANY PC or handheld when Linux can't even run 100% of Steam games 100% perfectly and have to deal with a jillion tinkering and different proton versions just to get something working? Not to mention that emulation is just plain better on Windows, as most emulators are more optimized on Windows as they are. Again, I ask...why?

    Don't developers get that handhelds need to have both of their analog sticks on the upper side of the device, and not just the left analog stick ?!
    It's so unnatural and painful to hold your right thumb in that stupid lower position...

    Why always take steam trash as reference when it was the last brand in the market, the less powerful and without freedom for using the so you want? Valve setists everywhere
