My Rhino Iguana Tank approves of this message. Something to add. They go through an aggressive phase during adolescence which was the only time that I was ever bitten. That was not an insignificant bite either even as an adolescent.

It can happen at other times as well. They have generally good personalities, but it is important not to forget what can happen at any time.

Better a lizard that goes through a surly teenage phase than the green iguana which gets extra extra fiesty on a yearly basis.

My wife and her sister grew up with a pair of adult green iguanas. There father said that they were very protective of his daughters especially if they started crying.
Apparently he couldn't even get close without getting tail whipped if they were crying.
So I figured I'd share that tidbit since we were on the iguana topic.

Probably because he's chill. And from what I've seen with green iguanas, they love scrabbling all over. Basically like petting a chill German Shepherd. He feels comfortable around it, but still understands that if the iguana feels threatened, it can still do damage

About 25 years ago, I worked at a pet store that had a full grown male. He shredded two of my fingers when I was taking the water bowl out of his cage. He bit down so hard that his teeth went through my fingernails. It took about 15 years for the scars to finally fade. There were even scars under my nails! But there was blood everywhere, even splattered on the glass of the tank he was in. I left a blood trail from his cage to the bathroom (about 50 feet), I also got extremely ill within 24 hours (salmonella). I handle large lizards regularly, but these guys scare the hell out of me.

Great video! As an owner of one of these amazing animals (a nearly full-grown 8 year old male), I found the assessment accurate and thoughtful. Although a lot of work, these are some of the best guys ever. Contrary to what you say in the video, you CAN stumble across these guys at an expo, not realizing what you're committing to- thankfully for me, it was one of the best decisions of my life.

-Powerful tail whips to the face
-sharp teeth (especially as a puppy)
    -painful claws
    -need lots of space
    -likes vegetables
    -gets in moods
    -likes heads rubs

It's not very difficult if you ever want to try, just incredibly tedious for anything larger than palm sized. Fortunately, my only pet at the moment is a crested gecko. No armor required.

@@ClintsReptiles it sure was. Great insight as usual 🙂. It was on my shortlist back when I was doing research for a big lizard. I ended up with a tegu though and couldnt be happier 🙂🦎. But I really like these and Caiman Lizards.

It's a bit funny to see how afraid you are of that lizard. :D Also with this outfit I could see you selling Microsoft products rather than spreading information about big lizards :D No offense at all I just can't stop laughing after seeing you getting that paper towel when the iguana turned towards you :D

If he decides to bite me, I have to take the bite. I'd prefer he take out his aggression on the paper towels. I appreciate their willingness to make the ultimate sacrifice so I can keep all of my fingers.

I love your videos! I’ve watched almost all of them. Would you be able to do one about Brazilian Rainbow Boas? Or a head yo head between Ackies and Blue Tongues? And Ackies and Lacertas? I’m considering getting a new reptile at some point and I have owned Bearded dragons and corn snakes before. You are awesome.

Hi Clint. I have a very good idea for you, and that is to make a video comparing the green iguana with the Rhino iguana. There are 3 very good reasons to do so. 1. They are both iguanas by name and have very similar abilities. 2. Their diets are very similar and they both need similarly sized inclosures with only a couple of thing differing between them. 3. They both recieved the exact same score of (2.6 out of 5) for only slightly different reasons. If you haven't already done it, they why not give that a go.

You spoke about the list of large lizards that you would recommend.
Could you do a Top 5-10 list on that? I know from following your channel long enough that the B&W Argentine Tegu tops that list, but I'd be interested in seeing some cool alternatives or what you might recommend that I might not see on other lists.
