Just followed this on F20 114d from 2013, manual. You have to spin that gear upwards on rear left wheel and downwards on right one. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks was just about to try and adjust the handbrake on BMW 3 series 2015- your explanation and having the a clear view of the handbrake is excellent, saved me lots of time discovering that there is no need to attempt to adjust on interior handbrake lever and to focus on adjustments at the rear hub. From "@grubasyk -tighten - spin that gear upwards on rear left wheel and downwards on right one" .
Yeah, good point about not needing to get to the part directly underneath the handbrake. I just saw one of the other videos you are talking about, and I was wondering why they said you would need to do that. I adjusted mine with zero problem without touching that bit.

Future note for my self this is for tightening the brake shoes.
I think you mean clicks not turns, very helpful to know handbrake spring doesn’t affect adjustment. Thanks

Good video. Recently adjusted handbrake without touching this under handbrake lever. Just the adjusters on the rear. Everything is working fine
Thank you, it's perfect now. No problems at all. My BMW has emergency brake now, and parking brake with little work..!
I just wanted to say thank you for a really useful video. It saved me a lot of needless work. All done now with your help, thanks again!

Which way do you turn it to tighten?
@@DaleSteel spin that gear upwards on rear left wheel and downwards on right one
Thank you , saved me good bit of time not having to release the hand brake lock.😊
Good explanation yeah other videos show the spring think did nothing thank you
Does hand break have to be up when adjusting the hand break or down?
down
Yeah but the discs will be hot from braking right
Well, not that much. Just checked with a laser thermometer and all disks at 25-30°C while the rear left is at 80-100°C
