- This job came through, and I was asked to go around to do a quote for a once off mow. The homeowner wanted to surprise his wife with a mow when she came back from visiting family overseas. When I saw the place, I just had to offer to do a complete yard makeover if the homeowner agreed to cover the tip fees. Especially after I heard that he was studying community support and has a young family. It is always good to help people that help others. All up, I spent around 13 hours on this job, including 2 trips to the landfill. This is episode 1 of 3.

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

George, you do gardening as it should be done. As well as, if not better than, an owner. I just know that nothing will be out of place when you’ve finished...a fence paling gets nailed in, retaining blocks are corrrectly positioned, all is well done.

What a fantastic start, George. You do a wonderful job every time. So thorough and efficient doing a section at a time, clearing up as you go. I still have total rake envy. You never miss a scrap. The more I watch QC videos, the more I find myself wanting to contribute to those meticulous tasks that some might find tedious-like tidying up the ivy or clearing around and under the flowers and bushes. I really enjoy those kinds of tasks that keep things neat and organized. It’s just a thought, but if George ever needed an extra hand, my cat and I might just be tempted to make the 15,800 km journey!

I like this garden in general. Such a rich variety of fruit and decorative trees, and not neglected at all (so many garden hoses)! The only thing I'd do is removing or replacing this self-seeded Apricot. It may grow into a huge problem in that place 😮

The owner is right! It does look really good. It is hard to keep up to this amount of garden when you are working full time. I would urge the owner to take you on a contract, if financially possible, as he must be relieved at not having to deal with it. Loved the end result on the side garden, so much better. The Camellia bush is enormous. It must like the location, but it was very overgrown. Can't wait for the next installment. The view from their garden is wonderful, now you can see it!! Well done George, another epic in the making. 😃

Yeeeeees! Another series begins!!! This time it's not a bramble mess but it will still be complicated and super satisfying! Too many plants and pots for me in this not so big space, personally I would keep it simple, especially with that view to look at. But I'm glad the owner has a different opinion, his garden is perfect for George to show us how to do things! Go George go! 💪🤗☀

That's the way I use to clean house & yards back in the day! I worked hard & played hard in my youth! I love the way you dig in. I always thought cleaning up meticulously is the why to have really prestine improvement & impressions. Some people it's just yard work other it's an art work in progress because it's always growing! It's fun when you know there is a lot of love there it's just gotten of control. Personally I think all the trees in the should by replanted in the back yard. Keep maybe the one more centered in the middle. The trees are still young enough to be moved to the back yard. I think when they grow their canapés will be shading the sun out on the initial yard! One tree I think would be enough for the yard in front in the lawn area. People don't realize they can over grow the space they are in. They probably don't enjoy their back because it's way out control. So, they planting everything in front! 😊❤ just thinking out loud. 😅 after the back is sorted out you might suggest replanting the trees before they can't be moved to a places in the back, they would benefit & grow better. Cleaning leaves in the fall when they get bigger will be a buger. Well, Like I mentioned before, I am just thinking out loud. 😂 I looking forward to watching your magic in people's crazy yards!!! ❤
