    Another cracking and informative video, I've personally never went bikepacking in the winter but it's something I want to do early next year in the cairngorms . Have a good Xmas buddy

      Cheers Ian! You’ll love it I’m sure. Low mileage and plenty of warm stuff is the key :) same to you mate

    Hate to say it as they are so popular these days and crazy prices but for going to harsh enviroments and unsupported where reliability and a tent failing can mean the difference between life and death then given the years of experience i have to go with Hilleberg purely for the ability to cope with snow loading and very high winds and also the durability. I use a mix of the Soulo (for winter and if long trips and unknown conditions), Akto (if not expecting heavy snow loading) and in the Summer the Enan for bike packing. I have also used a Stakia when travelling as a 2 (split the loading). They are expensive yes, but last and have never had one fail and have used the Soulo in climates from Iceland to Patagonia, in literally all conditions. I have had fails with an Abisco, MSR, Rab and Nordisk, i have often looked at lighter tents but always go back for the Hilleberg if a failing tent could lead to serious situations. Lastly i would recommend the thermorest xtherm mats over the neo, i find them much warmer in winter.

      Thanks for the great suggestions! The soulo looks ace.

    Some good kit there, here's hoping Alpkit/Sonder send some stuff your way given you've featured a lot of their equipment on your channel... I too like Alpkit/Sonder, I have two of their bikes steel Signal and a Frontier plus far too many items of their equipment, damn their member rewards and continual promotions 😂

      Haha that would be ideal! Yeah the rewards scheme is handy for sure. Not handy for my bank account though 🤣

    I'm going to make the same point . I use the fizik winter mtb boots, waterproof and warm.

      Aye; it’s been on my watchlist for a while, just never felt I could justify the spend as my feet haven’t suffered much in the MTB shoes I currently have. One for the future :)

    A first aid kit would be good to take

      Yeah never bothered with one on honesty. Perhaps if I was miles and miles away from civilisation then I would :)

    Get a cheap hot tent they less than 1.2 kgs handles any weather specially snow load

    • @Cycling366
      @Cycling366  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah hot tents is something I’ve looked into somewhat. Not sure on practicality in reality but seems like a cool idea

      @@Cycling366 i bought to many tents over the years and then i got a hot tents it takes all the boxes and the amount of space and head hight is amazing and you can just setup the inner for star clear nights and best yet the price was 105 dollars Ali express ..i use it all year round now it has 2 doors so great for even hot weather

      I don’t use that tent so can’t comment! We have some great gravel tracks up in the Cairngorms that would be ideal for fat biking

    Just one set of gloves? Allso rearlights and something reflective is a good one for safety on road. Would like to know more about what your eating through out the day and whats your calorie intake. Those noodle cups wont get you far…

      Usually yes! I have another set for camping so I have chance to dry off the first pair but that’s it. Yes good point, that’s more for a separate video as I pack a lot of food. Just stuck to the basics on this

    Just what I wanted, however you never mention your cycling shoes?
    How come you havent gone down the serious Winter boot route....Lakes, 45 NTH's etc
    Also why not Pogies, they are default for serious winter cycling.

    • @Cycling366
      @Cycling366  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point bout the shoes. I just use the Shimano (MT301s?) I have always had. They’re pretty warm but ideally I’d have some winter specific boots, just comes down to cost really. I agree with you on the pogies. Something to look into in future Arctic stuff :)
