Nick Home Free can be cut ups but when it's time to be serious no one sings it better than our boys from Home Free. This is so gorgeous and Adam sang the whole way through...no beatboxing
Yes!!!! Don't we looooove the sweet treat of Adam singing! All of these guys are so unbelievably talented, versatile, and interchangeable. It's insane, but in such a good way!! *we looooove this channel and your "pause" & your "they get on my nerves they so good"...etc.. 😆 The original is by Vince Gill. For a brother he lost. It's very touching & emotional. I saw Vince do this live a few years ago in Chattanooga, TN. Home Free most definitely does it justice, just beautifully. 🥰
Vince Gill wrote this song when he lost his brother as a tribute to him. Also Vince Gill , Ricky Skaggs & Patty Lovelace sang this in tribute to George Jones on the Grand Ol Opry. Not a dry eye in the place
The way they sing this with so much feeling brings tears to my eyes every time. For me (not being American), it's a remembrance of my loved ones who have passed on.
Home Free really did this justice. They are incredible I think you really have to check out the original with Vince Gill with Patty Loveless and Ricky Skaggs singing this. The harmonies are amazing and will tear your heart out.
That live performance at their friend's funeral is just heart rendering. 😢 Vince started writing this for his own brother when he passed away. But he finished it to sing at that funeral. He almost didn't make it through to the end. 😔 Amazing Performance.
@@shilohauraable That was the service for George Jones at the Grand Ol' Opry, from my reading,-the song was started on the death of Keith Whitley who was a friend of Vince Gill, and finished after the passing of Vince's brother-that performance is great if you have dust, or debris in your eyes-it cleans 'Em right up, although my eyes are pretty clean right now....
Vince Gill wrote this for his brother who died, and Keith Whitley another country artist who died. You would enjoy their song with Kenny Rogers Children Go Where I Send Thee upbeat and then I Can’t Outrun, Chance is lead in that one.
@@michellehorn6532 I watched that version 1 time and I sobbed! You could tell how much Vince truly loved George. It absolutely broke my heart! But what a wonderful tribute.
Thank you for your reaction. This one makes me cry every time. Vince Gill, who wrote it, tried to sing it at George Jones' funeral - and couldn't make it through without crying. Such a beautiful but heart wrenching song.
This song touches the heart of anyone who has lost a loved one. My brother is buried in a National Cemetery much the one shown in the video. I think of him every time I hear this song.
If you look closely in the video on tim and chance you can see that tim does the baritone the whole song and the deep bass was all chance. Chance can totally held his place as a bass
Can we give Rob his props as lead on this? I cry every time I hear this rendition--an emotional song to send your departed to another space. This makes me think of my Mom and sister. I have placed it on my funeral song list when my time comes.
I have never seen a performance recorded live that Vince Gill made it through this song with out breaking down. The veteran aspect was Home Free's take on the song.
Yes. And how spot on with such detail. The dog tags in particular. Those are either real dog tags from years & years ago, or made to look exactly like it to represent the old days of war & the fallen soldiers.
@@TheLadyDraconus He did and totally broke down. The band and Patti gave him space to work through it. One of the most heartbreaking performances I’ve seen.
Despite flash-backs, and a war story that is all too common and heart-wrenching, we still have the boys singing (SANGIN'!) while just standing in the grass (OK... they're in the mountains... shuddup), and delivering a performance that brings a tear to the eye.
Vince Gill wrote this to honor his brother that passed due to alcohol i think. I love this song as I found it just after I lost my own brother to alcohol 18 months ago. Too young at 57. Thank you for reviewing this beautiful version.
They come at this with an almost worshipful grace and honor…and it’s beautifully heartrending. They truly paid homage to both the original song and the lyrical meaning/content.
This song has always affected me. I wanted to play it at my dad's funeral 7 years ago but wasn't allowed any input by my stepmother. I felt it suited him because he had a difficult life but overcame it. Home Free made the song even better, as always. Thank you for a great reaction!
When Vince Gill does it for George Jones funeral, you could see the emotion. First written for Vince's brother, this song has been a tribute for those whom we've lost.
If this song doesn't touch your heart, you don't have one. I've listened to this song ever since it was released and it guts me every time! It never fails to give me full body chills and tears. There's a video of Vince singing it with Patti Loveless and Ricky Skaggs as a tribute to his dear friend George Jones at his funeral. The love Vince had for George was there for the world to see. It will tear your heart out! Great reaction! As soon as I saw you were reacting to this, I couldn't click fast enough. I thought it might hit you hard and it did. This is such a beautiful song , which was sung beautifully by Home Free. I cry no matter how many times I hear it. It goes straight to my ❤️. I think your reactions are wonderful and heartfelt also. Thank you🎼🎶🦋🎵🦋

This song was played at my best friends funeral last year, his sister chose it after seeing I had posted it on his page. I broke down and ugly cried. In the past year or so I have attended more than 25 funerals, this song and Moving On by Chris Rupp have been played at so many of them. Vince Gill's version at George Jones funeral was the most emotional video ever. Sorry, didn't mean to go on so long. 💕 Great job as always!
Tears every time for this one. Poignantly beautiful vocal arrangement with a heartbreaking video story, both outstanding. Chance was the bass beast throughout. They do this and two other tunes for the Church Sessions series on the Country Rebel channel, literally in a church, just the five lads seated in front of the pipe organ, no edits, no extras, just pure vocal majesty. It was a true story for so many vets, and their families as well. Makes me cry every single time. One Voice with Billy Gillman is another tear jerker but the message is so good. It's as deep as this one and the video is heartbreaking.

Oh yes. These are definitely a must. Home Free guys goof off like crazy y, but they're very serious & honestly into heavy issues. They are such great guys. 🥰
Vince wrote this song (in part) for his brother who died in a car accident. He actually first started writing it about fellow country singer (and good friend) Keith Whitley, who drank himself to death 4 years earlier.
He started writing it after his friend Keith Whitley died. That's why in first verse he makes a reference to you're no stranger to the Rain which was a Keith Whitley song. He finished riding it when his brother passed away several years later
I used to sing Go rest high with my sister. She never sang as much as me or had as much interest in it, but this was one of the few we'd always do together. I really miss singing it with her. Now I sing it for her... to her... and choose to believe she is still singing harmony... from the otherside. I sometimes forget that she won't actually be there singing where my ears can hear, and when I don't hear her jump in where she is supposed to ... then I remember why and I can't finish the song. I love you Peej, I hate it here without you.

Vince Gill started writing this song for Keith Whitley and did the second verse years later when his own brother died. He has added a third verse but I don't know if he's got it on TH-cam. It's a very emotional song.
Vince started writing this for his friend, former country superstar Keith Whitley, but shelved it and then later completed it after his brother passed away from a heart attack. What a great version of this song
Gill began writing this following the untimely death of country music superstar Keith Whitley. Gill didn't finish the song until a few years later following the death of his brother. Thus, the song is a tribute song to both Keith Whitley and Gill's brother.
Beautiful song. Their version from The Church Sessions is my favorite. That's on the Country Rebel channel.
