Phi I tell you sincerely, whenever you do tournament watchalongs, you have some of the most fun commentary out there. The hype that you can generate when you get really into it is fantastic and I find myself watching tournaments through your vids instead of the official streams. Would be real great to see you at the commentary table one of these days.
I think your Jam is the deep dive format, I watch NFL breakdowns in the same format and I love it, BUT I'm totally confident you can adjust to a more on the fly approach. We're all rooting for you dude❤
TastySteve's commentary is the reason why I kept up with competitive Tekken, and Phi's guides are the reason why I have hope to one day compete myself. I improved a ton just from the "Breathe and look at the screen" tip that he passed along. Great stuff :)
I think commentators needs to be more than 1 person where one is technical and the other is entertainment which gives it a nice constrast. You're a great commentator and good on technical bteakdown and really good pair with Tastysteve. Yipes is an entertainer and anyone paired with Yipes would be someone that constrast his personality for a good balance
You're right that commentating live is real difficult but I know for a _fact_ you can pull it off with some practice. Hoping to see more of this sometime!
People are always focused on themselves when assessing how good they'd be at commentary. Beyond the mechanics/technical skill, the biggest things are your timing, social awareness, and ability to work with and prop up someone else. That's how you'll go far! You can do it!
Great commentary and what a perfect match to commentate, one of the most entertaining matchups I've seen in a while, being played by 2 of the best specialists. That was a treat, especially all the bear optimization was mad.
I’ve been saying this everytime I watch Phi restream these events, but Phi’s commentary is equal parts entertaining and informational, which is really what all viewers really want. He talks a lot about how he doesn’t think he fits for the job, but getting experience and commentating with people with experience is how you get comfortable and find your spot commentating. I would love to see Phi do more live commentary
@@Walamonga1313 Steve is known to grab and shake his co commentator as hard as he can during hype sets. There is an infamous moment where he grabs Sajam’s arm so hard he felt it was going to break causing Sajam to scream in an uncharacteristic way “STEVE MY ARM!”. If you’ve ever watched Sajam you’ll hear the sound clip on occasion as it’s his sub alert.
Honestly I never thought about you being a pro commentator, but before watching this video I realized "oh, this guy actually makes good and entertaining commentary". The way you react to plays and combos, or a game changing side step is really what we Tekken players wanna watch, someone who loves the game as much as we do and resonates with it. I would be really happy to watch this more.
I legit really really want to hear your and BP commenting together. BP's such chill fun loving vibes and you're a mix of analytical and hype. Agh dream casting.
Unironically, I was enjoying the most whenever you were commentating the Dragunov matches. I know your chat was getting irritated by the grunts but I was grunting along with you and laughing my ass off. It got to a point where I could actually watch a few sets without stopping my work by just listening to your commentary. I could tell exactly which move Dragunov was using, whether he had launched his opponent, whether he had reached the wall with his combo, who was winning, etc. And because you would fill in on the other details of the interactions so estatically it was easy for me to listen in on just the commentary like when people used to "watch" sports back in the day by just listening to the commentary on the radio because TV's hadn't been invented. The only criticism I had for you was that you got distracted by chat way too much and missed a lot of the action but that obviously wouldn't be a thing if you weren't streaming and were an official commentator
14:23 yoshimitsu players have to adjust. There are only so many moves to create offense with this character. Skilled players know all the strings. And most full strings on block are not safe. Y’all swear up and down he’s so broken. Yet his pressure potential compared to everyone is awful. Without the flash and spin. Yoshimitsu would be an obsolete character. The flash got baited plenty times and he whiffed leaving him open to being punished. Kuma (piggy) was keeping so much pressure forcing yoshimitsu (K&T) to practically guess what attack comes next the entire time. Meanwhile piggy was barely attempting to block a low and duck almost every attack string yoshimitsu has. The yoshimitsu broken narrative needs to be stopped. Shout out to K&T for that fire adjustment.
We don't need to remove the flash all together but the way it is now is completely broken. His powered up version has way too much range and you can get launched from hitting him in some situations. The spin is unnecessary and is way to powerful. It's a get-out-of-jail-free card that most characters have no counter-play for. Not to mention his insane life recovery and unavoidable tech traps.
Awesome experience, just finished having a breakdown and watched this to cheer me up and the commentary was nice, but you seemed a. It shy, if you ever do this again just be you, you have an audience for a reason you know
The only reason I have an interest in any of these tournaments is because of your smart, yet hype commentating. You explain what's going on, but you're just as happy as the viewer.
Dude I felt so bad for sourpiggy at this event😂 he had such tough matches that he was so close to winning. Results didn’t show but he had a great showing imo
No matter what you do we’ll support you but you should definitely do the commentary! It’ll open doors for you to commentate on other games you’d enjoy as well!
constructive feedback here, it felt like you were reacting/watching with friends at home rather than co-commentating. I'm not sure if this is not supposed to be commentary or not, but I also noticed you just chatted with Steve instead of commentating (example @ 8:02 the phrasing/delivery should be changed to commentator style (if commentating)).
Great commentary! I think you would improve a lot at commentating live if you talked about your emotions, like when something hyped happens. Many times, you are stunned, and there are facial expressions, but the viewers are focusing on the match.
Ome of the best commentary ever is a guy repeating "JUSTIN WOOOONG" Commentary, like content creation is about entertaining, as long as you can connect with people, you'll be fine, and i think you can
"What commentators do is *way* harder than what I do" (actively teaches random people of varying skill levels live and in the middle of a match regularly)
When Phi didn't say anything about the match until "omg he died", I understood the true power of commentators... All love btw, ik this was purely casual
Not a diss to you at all. I think if you handle stress and pressure well you will do fine. But Aris is missed dearly as a commentator. Good luck on your new journey.
Im done with this channel after this announcements, phi becoming the tekken 8 primal yes man. Been a good journey and Ive learnt alot, time to move on buddy. Tekken 8 deserves better treatment

Vibe wise he'd be the Bobby Leonard of Tekken. Boom Baby!
100% agree
Genuinely phi, I can't quit tekken cause your love for the game is so contagious it makes me want to play more. The same goes for your commentary.
I relate. I get burnout easily, but seeing Phi in my feed always ignite the spark to play more

Phi complements Steve's pace very well, sometimes 2 ppl commentating fast can get a bit distracting imo. This was perfect
That lean into the mic ending is so fire LMAO had to clip that from the stream.
That weekend was full of great moments.
Im happy for you Phidx, you have a big and appreciated youtube channel aswell as being a commentator for the game you love!

Phi asking Steve to sit closer is definitely a life choice that some people ( Rip & Sajam) wouldnt advise.
