- In today’s fan fiction we’re going to cover what would have happened if Vader actually did get the Death Star plans in rogue one.
He was so close, and the fact that he didn’t just force pull the plans from the Rebel always made me wonder if he purposely let them get away, maybe he wanted it to explode because of his infatuation with the force triumphing over technological weapons.
What happens to Luke Skywalker? Obi-Wan Kenobi? Han Solo? Palpatine? Leia? Yoda?
Here's one way things could turn in an alternate fan-fiction universe...

@@eliminator1472 By what? It really doesn't make any sense. Without Luke, Vader would have happily served the Emperor until the end of his days. it was Luke's direct action that caused him to change.

Ever heard of Star Wars Infinities? The three movies have a few sets of comics about the a what if scenario for each movie.
silverbullet1620 It’s only for the OT as of now but doing it for the prequels would be interesting. A full TV animated series would be best though
@@skywalkerorder2170 agreed. Now of Disney and Hasbro got their heads out of their collective butts and bring back the fully articulated action figures and comic book sets they'd make millions especially with the what ifs. I have Jedi Leia and have made my own what if I need to post one day.

@StoopS I feel like it would start a few years after Revenge and Bail would be getting so desperate having watch Sidious ruin the galaxy that he takes fate into his own hands or something.

Anakin gaining the empire is one thing , him keeping it is another. People tend to forget Palpatine spent 20+ years making this scheme, he still has to play the political game otherwise he wouldn't be able to rule. Anakin is a good military leader yea, but he isn't a political mastermind like Palpatine. The idea that Anakin can just off Palpatine and everyone is going to just follow him is ludicrous.

Not to be that guy, but wouldn't the Death Star have a copy of the plans on their computer? In a New Hope, they analyzed the attack patterns of the Rebels and discovered the flaw. By taking the plans Vader would stop the rebel attack, but also the discovery of the flaw since they needed the additional info supplied by the rebels to find the weakness. After a Galen Erso hid the flaw in the design phase, so everyone who came after that use the plans for their part of designing the Deat Star to its construction missed it. So the flaw in the Death Star would go unfixed.

I feel Luke is the type who would turn to the DarkSide because not only was that in George’s original script, but also The Emperor felt he could destroy his former identity in a way Vader never could, as revealed in the novelization of ROJ.

Vader, with Anakin always being on the spectrum of a part of him, never had the same extreme, unflinching, and fatal(?) overconfidence of Palpatine. In a way he would’ve been much more responsible with his plans, perhaps going a different direction even with the whole plan, as he knew he had much to learn; that piece of Anakin’s leftover penchant for inquiry and lack of self-confidence and mistrust for his feeling which persisted until his ultimate sacrifice

Fan fiction: the rebels don’t need the Death Star plans and just decide to fly a large ship at light speed through the Death Star. Problem solved
The Death Star had a Gravity well projector in addition to its actual gravity for being so large. Any ship would be pulled out of hyperspace if it got close to the station.

I don't like to think that Sidious would know if Vader was lying or not but then again he really controlled Vader and was the strongest sith at this point.

I don’t think Luke would have left with Obi-Wan in this scenario. The thing that pushed him across the threshold was the death of his aunt and uncle, but if the Empire wasn’t after the plans anymore they would have no reason to go to Tatooine

Actually, the empire stole them from the separatists, in the last clone war movie when it shows the separatist leaders on the volcano planet in the control room. In the background you can see the death star plans
Palpatine controlled the separatists from the shadows, he commanded both sides of the war.

actually closing every thermal exhaust port would cause the deathstar to explode on its own. The thermal exhaust ports weren't a weak point, it was actually a surprise they were so small and as we saw, you'd need the force to fire a successful shot

I feel like with so much less contact and knowing of his kids less in general he would have won the fight since his internal conflict wasn't as hard going as it was in the original story. Another route would be he sees padme in Leia and get very conflicted then

Even without the reactor instability there are lots of ways to destroy the Death Star, or at least render it inoperable. Its armor is thick, but the weapon dish is literally right on the outside. You could pound it into submission with a big enough fleet, or just lure it into an ambush and throw some asteroids at it.
