In the final design do you plan to enclose the cockpit with armor or leave it open the way it is now? Like you said it won't be in the front lines however if something is to get through then there is a chance of loosing the cockpit and the ship

You should put a cowling on the forward section to protect it from stray shots to the welders

Arm the warheads on the torpedos and it will always detonate
