Fabi is so wise. “We don’t always get choices in life so when we do have a choice to have two things instead of one, we should definitely not squander the opportunity.”
I always follow this idea, especially when playing chess and having a chance to lose my queen AND get checkmated, instead of picking just one of the two.
@@u.v.s.5583I love the recurring motif of the dual-drink dilemma, wherein Fabi solves this false choice by ordering both drinks (with respect to the tea-and-coffee debacle around minute 5 and the subsequent tea-and-grapefruit galore around minute 7). Seriously speaking though (and I was serious about the last part too): Fabi and Cristian, you two are absolute delights - thank you for bringing your genuine selves to chess!

As much as I love how far the professional production has come this honestly might be my favorite content from the tournament! Getting to see the social dynamics, the jokes, and all the behind the scenes glimpses is just so incredibly cool! I especially enjoy seeing the youngsters hanging out with the established elite and slowly getting comfortable hanging around with legends of the game! Please keep doing this stuff in the future, it's such an incredible and unique insight into the extremely exclusive world of top-level chess!
Fabi and Christian have really taken my heart with these vlogs and other C squared content. Both have such unique views on chess, life etc but both are so well spoken. I hope you enjoyed Toronto Fabi and look forward to everything 2024 has to offer !
Fabi played so well in this tournament. I was at the edge of my seat everytime he was playing, especially against Magnus. He showed us in this last couple of games that he can outplay him and put in a great fight. I really enjoyed this aggressive side of him, it showed amazing lines on the board. And even if he didn't win, nothing takes away the amazing chess that we witnessed. Also, a shoutout to Christian for bringing high quality content for us. I love his energy. My favorite part of him in this tournament was when he said that he told Fabi to play his course against Magnus just to promote it 😂 Keep up the great work! And the best of lucks to Fabi in the Candidates ^^
The vlogs are such a fascinating complementary view of the competition. Competitors just throwing analyses at each other. For next time, might be better to post them before or after the livestream so they get more traction quickly after going live.
Loving these vlogs, its so cool to see the gms hanging out together behind the scenes and really shows a side of fabi were unable to witness in interviews and podcasts alone. Please keep this type of content coming!
Great to get a glimpse behind the scenes! Seems like a chill bunch of dudes. MVL seems like a fun guy, and cool of him to stick around even after elimination.
Ketchup on pizza is pretty common in many places, in Brazil we do that too (also mustard and mayo), even though our pizzas already do have the regular pizza sauce, cheese and a metric ton of toppings
you were brilliant Fabi! I hope you're not too disappointed with your performance in the final round. It was a hard fought battle. Enjoyed rooting for you the whole time! Go get 'em in the Rapid / Blitz World Championship!
C squared one of the best channels in TH-cam maybe you guys will try streaming sometime but either way i hope that you guys get hella subs just wait on it
Regarding Pizza in Romania... lately, because of many Romanians who had lived in Italy for a long time coming back, you can find great Pizza almost anywhere in Romania.
True global community, Fabiano is Italian and American, Hikaru is Japanese and American, So is filipino and American, Alirejza is Iranian and French, true melting pot.
Alireza is only Iranian, and Wesley just Filipino, they just play for another country (yeah they both have the nationality but Naka and Fabi arre literally half american if i'm not mistaken)
@@MatsMatsuohuh? Alirejza became a French citizen in 2021 and Wesley became an American citizen for a while now, Hikaru and Fabi are both American by birth, Hikaru cuz his mother is American and Fabi was born in Miami but both of his parents are Italians. What’s your point?
@@mn8931 Unfortunately, it isn't possible to post a simple observation grounded in truth on the internet without someone insta-disagreeing with you for no apparent reason other than to be a troll.
@@mn8931 my point is that any country can give you their nationality, doesn't mean they are american or french, is just a sort of meaningless title, their parents aren't american or french and they didn't born in America and France. Three points actually, 1. This is why I called them Iranian and French, Filipino and American. Didnt even call them Iranian French or Filipino American. Read between the lines. 2. Being born in one place is not the end all and be all of someone's identity. Hikaru is not even born in America but to me he seems way more American than even Fabiano who was born here to immigrant parents and lived a decent part of his life abroad. Anyone can be born anywhere but it is where you have lived longer, and how deeply rooted, adapted and integrated you are to a place that truly defines where you are from. 3. You called yourself Japanese and Brazilian even though I am assuming you have never lived in Japan and know anything about it other than maybe some rudimentary language from your parents. Yet you called yourself Japanese, but you think someone having lived in a country for extended period of time, immersed in that culture, putting down his roots there and becoming a citizen of that country does not justifying saying he is from there? think again. @@MatsMatsuo
I worked with a guy from Romania for some years. On Canadian food he mostly had one complaint: too much salt. Too much salt in everything. Given that we mostly had lunch at the cafeteria or fast food or crappy diners near the office, he was correct. All those places do use too much salt.
Love the vlog. But can you guys put subtitles in when it's hard to hear what the guys are saying. Between low volume or some of the accents it's hard to understand what's being said. Great work
It has been a strategic mistake by Caruana to choose playing black pieces in the last tiebreaker game after getting Carlsen thoroughly outplayed in the previous two games with white pieces. Also, it could have been a psychological blow to Carlsen if Caruana chose to bid 15 minutes. Missed a great opportunity to do double "damage". Well, maybe next time...
Yeah he's an introvert, he just talks to people he's really close to like David Howell, aryan Tari and maybe everyone knows that top after these years that he's not much of a talkative guy to discuss and gel with each other
I don't understand how the other players are able to hang around in that backstage area between games and not get distracted. It's so loud in there with constant activity.
Random references to letters and numbers, then occasional reference to the medieval weaponry and armaments. These guys are talking in some weird language.

Nothing but respect to Fabi. He played a fantastic tournament. And still a class act even in defeat.
