I have a bat made by Julian in 1993 when he was at M and H in Taunton, believe it or not it is Still in superb condition and is still played, many people, over the years have borrowed it and been absolutely astonished at its balance and power, just a marvellous example of the bat makers art. J M is a master.
Mind Blowing, Bet that you could pick up the best Bat from the leading Manufacturers like Gray-Nicholls, GM, Kookaburra, SS or CA but you won't get the same service and durability out of them like you will by one masterfully crafted by an experienced Bat maker.
@@bilalmalik5002 I think Gray-Nicholls are still hand made in a small village in the England 10 bats per day if I remember I think it was a video by Ade Edmonson the wingman of Rik Mayall

I watch almost 2-3 times in a week like a repeated movie. Sad to hear he not making any bats anymore but as a pod shaver I miss him and one day I wish make bats like rather than just repairing 🙏🏼
Nicely made bat. Only thing I don't like is the stickers. Would hope that the bat gets knocked in before use and an oiling before applying that cover sheet. Wish the customer knew how to test the bat. Not just stand in the stance with it ......
Reminds me of the "paddle" that one of the teachers at my school in 7th grade used to "impart negative reinforcement" for unacceptable behavior. The difference is that he had holes drilled in it so it whistled as it was coming towards your back / backside. I had bruises from my shoulders to my ankles after one such encounter with him.
Mixed feelings when it comes to Julian's bats. Had a Millichamp & Hall 30 years ago and it was the best bat I ever used. Without a doubt would hold up against any bat made today. A fantastic middle. A great bat. On that basis I bought my young bloke a made to order Screaming Cat sight unseen over the internet in 2010. Without a doubt the worst bat I ever bought. Had a huge knot in the middle of it and it was clear an attempt was made to remove it. End result being a large dead spot right where the sweet spot should have been. You win some you lose some.
It's nice to see things like this that are handmade by a professional who knows a hell of a lot more about joining two pieces of wood together with glue than your average dude. indian made slazenger or gm bat are total shit and a waste of money.and practically nobody uses it for matches or even net practice because: . from the view of an indian it's costly a bat with same edge measure of SS or SG would be better and worth the money
For someone with the skills, tools and experience of Julian Millichamp, I'd guess less than 2 hours per bat, but that's just a guess based on my own (very) limited woodworking experience.
Nice art done you screaming cat!!👍 Great job. By the way I've just 1 question is the - which willow you had used to make bats?. Ohh it's obviously will be english willow. But still you Australians have your own willow villow??

Hey Julian.. The passion in your craft is commendable.. but the dude who you making a bat for doesn't have a proper stance or a backlift to test the bat.. hope I will get a custom made one too.. I am a left hander.. My strengths are cover, square, straight, leg glance & hook. I am weak at tackling good length at leg and advancing towards them. I would like to come back foot swiftly and defend them accurately or sweep or on drive. But I reaction time is slow with my 1.25 kg Adidas Pellara. What should i be looking for if I go for a custom made which will help me improve my game. and timing.
