      Russian wages. I go for the Soviet ones with completely russian text. The dial colors from the 80s were something else. They have some real beauties. There's one I'm trying to get that's never cheap from the 60s with gold hands and glossy black dial but people bid so high on the few that are there. Don't know if you know but apparently during the Soviet days for a while there, Russia made more watches than any other country, including Switzerland and Japan. Funniest thing is that they only introduced toilet paper there in 1969 and by that time even many poor russians had watches! I suppose as communists, you can't be expected to work an extra minute past knock off time!

    I've just got the vostok komandirskie 650541, 24hr dial, military dive watch.
    It is more accurate than my rolex sea dweller 4000.
    I love the styling and build quality of the vostok. My rolex has gone back in its box
    😎👍
    I might swap it for a jeep now I've got the vostok..

    I sure do like these Vostoks, my first was a Komandirski gifted to me on Father's Day; and I like it so much that I now have the orange 'Scuba Dude' Amphibia on the way.... I really like the 'retro' look of these watches and would love to find me a WWII era Amphibia in good working order.....

      Good to see your enjoying your watches. Unfortunaly, the amphibia wasnt produced until 1967, however there is the Vostok 'Kirovskie' inspired by 1940s russian automatics.

    Thanks for this. Getting quite a few coming, mainly 70s and 80s. Quite a few the 1980 Moscow Olympics edition in different colors and a 40th anniversary WW2 from 1985. Most are like your white one on the right but a couple look like your black one, and they're not all vostocks. But they're ALL soviet union ones, and I really generally only go for the ones made for locals, completely russian text. Even getting one of the "UFO" types from the early 70s. Got another odd "Luch" one, the only quartz watch from the 90s that isn't that common that looks like the skinny cousin of a AP Royal Oak (which is like 32 thousand dollars on average). But this Luch was like $16. Getting a SLAVA "tank" too. No shortage of metal in that one.

    I have virtually the same one as the 320 vintage, instead of the all white dial it is blue fading to white top to bottom and it is superb keeping absolute perfect time, been told its early eighties. I wear mainly that one, or my paratrooper in the gold brown two tone sunburst similar to the one next to the 320 and has the same case as yours but my bezel has a lume pip at the top, or my 50 years victory Generalskie which is a TiN brass with a shiny gold dial with a beautifully painted logo and star. I have another paratrooper with an anchor at the bottom with a slow movement in need of service but that is a Soviet one, a early 1970's Commander which also is in need of a service having no bezel and a larger crystal with a dummy ring around the standard dial and I have a very unusual Komandirskie Cadet which is apart from an oil stained dial, immaculate case, bezel and hands but is quite a bit smaller than the standard Vostoks and has a very ornate "run over frog" type case with the 2 o'clock winder position and that keeps amazing time.

    Funny, I do not think of my K35 (K 350503) as large at all. It looks small (and is by comparison) sitting next to my Casio Duro. But then I do have > 8" wrists, so neither look large on wrist for me anyway.

    I like the Commandirskiy case to the right.
    A case dont have to be bigger then it have to be.
    It look like the ratnik case.
    The weight of the cases would also be interesting to know.
    I have a 090, and the weight is 87g, its not heavy, but i dont going to buy a heavier case then this.

  • @jb03hf
    @jb03hf 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 320 says on it in Russian - Made in the USSR.
    You can also see that the last one is from the intermediate period between the CCCP and Russia as it doesn't have a "made in x" stamp on the bottom- which dates it post the fall, but before they started putting Russia on them. Which puts it as an early 90s.

    I have gotten quite a lot of ISSR made watches now, and it turns out for the mens watches, they were almost ENTIRELY 18mm straps. I have like 1 little one that's got 16mm straps. EVERYTHING else is 18mm. Almost like that was the standard size for soviet mens watches, whether made in Ukraine, russia or Belarus. Not sure about east german though.

  • @typhoon20724
    @typhoon20724 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's the case type 921. Vostok classic watches have the first three numbers for the case type and the last three for the inside graphic details.

    • @HeartofTexasArmory
      @HeartofTexasArmory  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is similar but the 92 case does not have the crown guards.

    • @typhoon20724
      @typhoon20724 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I got it, it's a Vostok type 120 stainless steel case usually used for the amphibian but with the komandirskie dial, very unique.

    • @jb03hf
      @jb03hf 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@typhoon20724 they started doing that. There is not much difference these days in what they label as a Commander model now - you can find all of the main military dials (paratrooper, T-34 tank, submarine, etc.) in a Amphibia 420 size and look case and the automatic movement - but with a Komandirskie case back and I think crystal (mine has a specified 100M depth resistance- not 200M - so I assume they make the savings there.)
      I have both a K-65 Komandirskie GMT and a 170963 Amphiba "Batman" GMT - both have cases with a 200M depth and both have the same 2426.12 GMT automatic small seconds movement.
      So, really hard to say what is a Komandirskie anymore- so be careful you know what you are getting.

    nice video. I have a 15cm wrist, the 420 case is fine for my small wrist, but what about the 710? It would wear too big? thanks

    • @HeartofTexasArmory
      @HeartofTexasArmory  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It would wear big on you IMO. But I don't think it would be "too big". The 710 case is not that much larger than the 420 case.

    I have a komanderskie that measures the same, has the same lugs and same crown guard. The model # lists a 218 case.

  • @rogeriusrex1
    @rogeriusrex1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    With the 18mm lug width, do you think there's enough wiggle room to fit 20mm straps? I have several 20mm Nato straps and I have a Zissou on the way and was going to try to squeeze one of the 20mm on it. I've seen some videos and some pictures and it seems there is a bit of a gap between the strap and the lugs. Not a big deal, but just wanted to check with a pro. Great videos, btw!

    • @HeartofTexasArmory
      @HeartofTexasArmory  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad you enjoy the videos! I've never actually tried a 20mm strap on the 18mm lugs, so I'm not 100% sure. But I do think it would probably work so long as your 20mm Nato is nice and supple, and not too thick.

    • @alohm
      @alohm 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      what did you end up doing? I got an 18mm nato with my 420phib - but didnt like how it sat - went with a barton silicone band. Love it. Now on my komanderskie - I did want a thicker band - So I added a 20mm black leather band. looks stock-ish - black but calf leather, and the thicker band changes the looks.

    • @rogeriusrex1
      @rogeriusrex1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alohm I never tried to fit a 20mm to the 18...the 18 straps fit perfectly. A 20 would have been all folded and weird. I've mostly gotten over nato straps and gone to rubber straps, anyway.

    • @alohm
      @alohm 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think there's a way to reverse your way into what case you are looking for...
    First off if you have the 6 digit model number the case # is the 1st 3 digits.
    Secondly if you measure the strap width, it tells you something.
    Only certain cases are those widths:
    060, 120, 420 = 18mm
    090, 100, 110, 150, 710, 960 = 22mm
