Kangaroo chilli plum pies Ep.19

  • Carolyn's at work so I'm making some Kangaroo chilli plum pies, using Davidson plum powder we got from Native Australian Food Co.
    Kangaroo chilli plum pies makes 6 pies.
    Ingredients
    500g diced Kangaroo meat (or beef)
    3 sheets puff pastry
    1 tablespoon oil
    salt and pepper
    1 small onion, diced
    1-2 chillies, diced
    1 cup water (or beef stock)
    2 teaspoons davidson plum powder
    1/2 cup sweet chilli sauce
    3 Tablespoons maggi rich gravy mix mixed with 1/4 cup water, to thicken
    Method
    1. Dice onion and chillies.
    2. Heat oil in a pan and add onion and chilli, fry for a few minutes, then add diced meat.
    3. Brown meat and add davidson plum powder, sweet chilli sauce and water or beef stock.
    4. At this stage place in slow cooker and cook on low for 3 hours or high for 1 1/2 hours or until tender. OR you can turn heat to low and simmer on stove for about 45-60 minutes, until meat is tender.
    5. Thicken with the gravy mix mixed with water, and season to taste.
    6. Preheat oven to 220'c.
    7. Grease pie dishes and cut pastry sheets into quarters. Place pastry into pie tins, fill with meat mixture and top with another piece of pastry- press to seal.
    8. Cut a slit into pastry top, to allow steam to escape, spray with cooking oil (or brush with eggwash)
    9. Turn oven down to 190'c and cook for 25-30 minutes or until golden.
