Thorough - Excellent walk through of your process and tutorial at the high end of how to do something like this all in two apps. Love it. I do things like this in other software so I am always very happy to see options! Thank you!
Thank you very much :-) Yes, there is plenty software that can do these type of things on desktops, but for the iPad the list is much shorter :-) Glad you liked it.
Easy peasy… rrrright 😂 masterfully done Nikolai. And a very much hands-on explanation for viewers to follow. Thank you very much for sharing the process!
damn... Watching this process made me realize how much mental gymnastics is required where you have to plan everything ahead, to know what you wanna be able to move in Procreate dreams. Quite overwhelming but very impressive nontheless!
Thank you very much. Hehe yes it is abit of a brain work. But when you know the principle of this, it is fairly easy to do once you got the painting done.
Thank you so much for the explanations!! Amazed to see that you're finding your own solutions for loads of problems that I was seeing in procreate dreams. It's truly eye-opening. The workflow makes totally sense, and as for right now, it makes sense to draw mostly everything in procreate and assemble and animate in dreams.
Hello Nikolai, i can imagine it must get boring hearing just how mind blowing your skills are, but they really are! I was wondering what ipad you were using, which model, specs and storage and did you max out the layers capabilities on procreate for this project? Also in your expert and experienced opinion, what ipad model right now would be capable of handling a feature length (1hr 30mins - 2hrs) 2d animation in this style?
Thank you very much. It could not get bored of getting compliments! Allways nice to know people like my stuff! I did this on a M1 13 inch with 1tb storage. Now I got the same, just M4. I would reccomend now to atleast get the M1 or better, and if you get 1 tb or more you get twice the ram (16gb) But the newest iPad air 13 inch also got the M2 processor. So that is also a very good choice. So atleast one of the M1,M2 or M4 will work for years to come. But any iPad what can install latest iOS will work with Procreate Dreams, and the length if your animation will also be now problem as long as the storage is big enough. I would atleast get the 256gb or more.
Wow can’t imagine you manage to paint such detailed scene in Procreate and even animate it. (I was surprised because there is supposed a limit to the amount of layer when your canvas size is large)
Thank you :-) In Procreate with that rez on a M1 with 1TB storage, the limit is 65 layers. I used 47. But the animation part is done in Procreate Dreams. And that has a limit of 200 tracks for every frame!!! No mather what rez you have! So it is not really a issue with those limits in Procreate Dreams :-)
This is awesome. I loved watching the time lapse. As a Procreate beginner, I am curious about how you push objects into perspective after drawing them flat. Is this done by using the selection tool and manipulating the object to match the perspective or is it another way i am not seeing?
Thank you :-) I use the scale and translate in Procreate Dreams to move stuff within their perspective. They are just flat drawings, but they are moved differently according to where in the scene they are. The floor + ceiling is distorted and so on like I show in the video. Hard to explain in words, but maybe watch it again and pause and replay a few times to understand how I do it.
Super Cool!! and we get a Free Tutorial!! About 1 month and half I've done a Zombies in the Subway illustration, But the way you solved the composition is beyond Great, Your Art so Cool! Thanks for this Tutorial

Dreams has been getting a bit of negative feedback. but I think it is a very powerful tools, just a little misunderstood. your video really shows that power and possibility. thank you for posting this
Thank you. Yes, I think most people expect the simple tools to be in place, even in v1. But they are coming as well :-) in the meantime the tools that are there are REALLY powerful :-)
Awesome breakdown. Thanks! I'm curious if LumaFusion will still play a role for you going forward or if Dreams pretty much replaces what you previously did with LumaFusion.
Thank you :-) Lumafusion is still my go-to for pure editing. But I think all animation related stuff will be done in Procreate Dreams and sometimes Procreate.
Thank you very much for your nice words. The warp tool is where you find the Keyframes. On the timeline, you tap the playhead (the movie clapper) on a drawing, then you get 3 options. Chose the one on the left: Move. There you find Warp.
I searched high and low for you again. The 4k trick over a bigger canvas spoke to me and I had to hear it again. Im a Audio engineer and I want to know in procreate dreams are you moving the 4k frame you have in procreate to see perspective or are you moving the whole scene within that frame? It seems like it would be so much easier if you could move the 4k part since you can zoom so far out in procreate and pretty much draw a whole studio. ALso would you recommend drawing scenes separated by tracks, projects, or the whole thing no matter the length could be done right there? Thanks we need a course. Im about to look through your description to see if you already have one.
Hehe, glad you found me. Not totally sure that I understand everything you are asking about. But you can paint any rez you want in Procreate (or Procreate Dreams) and put that in a group in Procreate Dreams, zoom in to 4K rez and then have the freedom to move that group around as you want (that will be like moving the camera) I usually paint all my environments in Procreate becouse the painting tools are better there, still. But animation and such I do in Dreams. You can paint up to 16K in Procreate, so it is usually enough, but you can also put several 16K canvases togehter in Procreate Dreams and go as big as you want. In Dreams you can have 1million by 1 million pixels, so almost like not having a limit.
