    Had this beast for years…. Doesn’t work wiTh my brain 😂😂 I like your tut, the flow suits my brain. Cheers for this. I’m gonna bookmark and siT with my beatstep and this vid for an afternoon. Might finally get some use out of it, weird cause I won’t sell it as I know it’s dope, just haven’t been able to jive with it.

      Hey! I'm happy to help. I hear you! It's kinda complex, which means it can do a lot, but also means you have a lot to figure out 😂. I agree it's a great piece of gear, as long as you have a need for it - I think it's def the best version of this kind of thing haha. Good luck with getting back into it!

    00:18:00 tysm for resolving that!
    awesome video, btw. i bought a beatstep and had ZERO clue what I was doing before watching your vid.
    question: when using the same step on both sequencers with the same monophonic synth, how do you know which note will take over?

    you can control the volumes between every single drum for mixing with those rotary knobs? E.g if you charge one drumkit of a VST Instrument

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You shouldn't have any trouble doing that, you just have to be in "Control Mode" so that the BSP becomes basically just a midi controller that you could then map the knobs to whatever you want! If you're not in control mode you can see it mainly just has sequencer/note transpose functions. Check out page 56 in the manual: downloads.arturia.com/products/beatstep-pro/manual/BeatStepPro_Manual_1_3_0_EN.pdf

    This is great! Thank you so much. I can’t find out whether you can control midi CCs per step - like Elektron style parameter locks of CCs? Guessing no but thought I would ask.

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think so - I don't usually get SUPER deep with MIDI programming, but I did some digging on the Arturia forums and it looks like it would require a pretty beefy CPU to pull that together that this doesn't have. I'd try and reach out to Arturia directly if you can on that though, would definitely be cool. Maybe in a MKII!

    Thanks for the tutorial 👍 however how do I connect the Beatstep Pro to a mixer? Which output should I use from Beatstep Pro?

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem! Happy to do it! The Beatstep Pro doesn't produce any audio itself - so are you trying to MIDI map to a mixer or something? There are no actual audio outputs since the BSP doesn't process any audio - just sends control signals.

    • @hightone7731
      @hightone7731 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Duskmos Yes I know that the Beatstep Pro does not produce sound, I wanted to feed it sequences from the Behringer Edge, but apparently the Behringer Edge must be permanently connected to use its audio output to a mixing desk. I'm thinking of swallowing sequences with the Sp404 mk2 because it has the possibility of connecting it directly to a mixing board. Thank you anyway for responding for the information 👍

    Insightful video , man! Love the candidness to showing the process of jamming with all those instruments. How exactly did you wire the gate and pitch cv to the Werkstaat? It was not completely in the shot. So much appreciate your help in advance! ...I love the Werkstaat's deep voicings (i mean it's a Moog, after all ), but those little buttons can be a bit too limiting when in the moment!

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad you appreciate it! It's a capable little control surface that's built like a tank but also slim, kinda rarer than you'd think out there in music gear haha. I have the CV expander on the Werkstatt - do you have that? That part is pretty crucial to this setup, but from there it's just a matter of running two 3.5mm cables to the proper inputs on the module and you're good to go!

    • @wg821
      @wg821 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Duskmos yes i have the expander and the patch cables...but what are the proper inputs on the werkstaat going from the bsp pitch and gate outputs?

    Beatstep pro vs Oxi One.Which one to choose?

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I haven't tried the Oxi One, but it looks pretty amazing. The price difference is HUGE between the two (you can buy 3x BSP for the price of 1x Oxi One). The Oxi One has more tracks and more functions in general, but for the price, I think the BSP is a great buy. Fantastic build quality too. If it were me, I'd start with the BSP and then "upgrade" to the Oxi One if you really feel like it's necessary for your setup. I don't do eurorack so I'm a bit out of my lane (lol sequencer joke) but I say the BSP is a great place to start. Hope that helps?
