You are a bloody genius. You don't talk to fast and you give a great lesson in using the beatstep pro

You can expand the steps by holding shift and the arrows. It will copy your current sequence across all 64 steps.

I wasn't going to watch this series because I don't use a Bluffmonkey. Then I watched it to find out what a Bluffmonkey is and do I need one. It worked out in the end. Very good vids. Thanks.

Pro tip - you can use a headphone splitter to hook up both midi dongles from the midi out jack to set up this way without having to buy a more expensive midi din splitter.

Hey! I’m using this method of linking up a ms-20, Minilogue XD, and Roland JD-xi. I’ve managed to sequence them separately, for some reason the Minilogue randomly triggers random notes that aren’t in my sequence. I’ve tried a lot of different things to fix this, so now I’m wondering if you have any suggestions on possible fixes??

@@organism-7915 A bit late, but yeah. Using more than 2 devices with this method tends to be glitchy. I run the MS20 from cv outputs - after changing V/Oct setting (and a few more maybe) in beatstep config. Works well :) Btw: 2 reasons for glitches.. Headphone splitter usually has built in balancer of some sort. Also, splitting "current sink" breaks midi specs, or something like that :)

Brilliant review! Best review on the Beatstep so far!
Have just bought one. :) Will use it to control VST-synths in a DAW, :o which might sound strange.
(It's just until modules are being bought.)

Your timing is great. Can you do a tutorial on using the drum sequencer as a polyphonic sequencer? #DawlessNoob

Good videos, found other people's videos on the BSP much harder to digest

A cool follow up video would be to show how you can extend the beatstep with all of the midi functionality in ableton

Which setting allows you to preview the note pitch as you turn the sequencer dial? I didn’t know that was possible on the beatstep. Great video, super clear and nice overview of the features. Watched this as a bit of refresher after not having the BSP in my set up for quite a while and was really helpful.

I'm wondering this exact same thing. Mine doesn't preview like that either, but that would be super useful.

Question: How did you set up the D to receive midi channel 16?

You sort of missed a very key piece of info. How to SAVE so when you create your additional patterns you dont lose the one you're working on.

Expanding the Beatstep Pro to additional steps is comically complicated! Thanks for showing us.

Hi,i have a little problem with my Beatstep and a Spectralis MK1. I am trying to set it up so i can play on SEQ1 my synth and on SEQ2 a VST. The problem is: If i set midi channel 16 in beastep pro and try to set up a vst in ableton on midi ch 16 it triggers the sound from Spectralis.Do i need to buy a kenton midi thu box or i just need to change the settings in midi control center ?

I think you have both synths listening on channel 16 than? Change 1 synth to listen on a different channel.
