do you think that it could be the "Drowning Man" who loves the Organ guy, and that because it appears to be an older Russia they weren't allowed to be together? So the gay drowning man killed himself because he couldn't be with the one he really loves? It'd be a cool twist?
To be honest, I've always interpreted it differently: the priest is singing about himself a 'lifetime' ago. The 'drowning in a cold ocean' might be a metaphor - he ended his life, as he knew it, right then, and started a new life as a priest.
The hands at the end, to me, suggest it may also be a metaphor - when he 'came back' into a new life, he was still never whole, never quite alive, as such. Althought alternatively, that he may have actually drowned, but came back as a sort of 'ghost' of a holy man, but I prefer my first interpretation.
This is all imo, of course.
my son passed five days ago. I cried to my grandma that I should be planning his birthday not his funeral arrangements. I look down at my phone ready to make more calls and google search was up and read "I love you" and this was the song that was showing. We enjoyed listening to Woodkid durning relax time. I miss him dearly. I just thought I'd share my weird experience just now.

I found Woodkid about 4 years ago, his music (this one) really brings me back to those days where i felt at peace the most and remember the ones I lost. Maybe its just fate i keep finding music that carries me through the months and i'm very grateful for it.

This song came out the same year my father past away. I remember listening to this song religiously that year. Just remembered about Woodkid now, and it brought back so many memories. I was at my lowest 11 years ago, now I'm at my highest. Good paying job, lost a ton of weight since then (gained a few more pounds back) found the love of my life and have my own place. If you are in my shoes as I was 11 years ago, I promise it will get better. Never give up

Back in 2013 I was 28 listening to this alone in my flat in London. I remember being fascinated by this music and also the scenery in this video. I didn't know where it was shot but I knew it was unique and beautiful. Later ,in 2013 I met a girl from Iceland who is becoming my wife today. Today we live in iceland and I have seen all these beautiful places in this video. Every time I hear this song reminds me of my loving brother who passed away since January 2013. God I missed him so much and I cried each time I hear this one. I love Woodkid as he is a deeply sentimental epic performer with his vision ,lyrics and music .Just saw him before 4 days in Herodium Attica under the hill of Acropolis and he was way far beyond my expectations. I think for everyone with or without a deep faith this song con deeply touch one's. This song goes back to the Gospels, it shows the deep Passion of Christ, after a life long devoted to his cause, this only one cause: to LOVE, and spread this love that was dearly but also darely left onto his hands by Grace of His Father, it has to come to a tragic end. And what is most human of our Lord than to feel betrayed, to feel abandoned? That's what makes it so real for me, He did suffer this as we all do when things don't seem to come as deserved. He did die twice, as we all do when sinking into our lowest, when losing our own names and selves. But it's that love that will keep that trust alive, it is love that will make us live again. He loves us, oh Lord, He loves us, from long before we even knew what love meant.

My brother killed himself over some b****. It's almost 6 years now, when I hear this song I feel closer to him. I feel his pain and sorrow. I haven't any regrets in life but one, why didn't I see it that he was hurt. I know I could have saved him.
I will never forget him, he was my older brother, my best friend. In his memory my son has his name (second name). I miss you everyday and it's still hurts. But I know he is happy now, he and our oldest brother are together again and in that I find peace

Here is my interpretation of this clip. It directly follows "run boy run". The boy, who represented hope, and innocence in the World, has been defeated ans corrupted. This "Priest" dies inside with the lost of this kid, the hope, which is the "loved one" but tries to survive. But he cant materialy survive if he hasn't got hope for the future. "Where are you" is his last call before really dying, this time for real, going back to a single rock, that doesnt have any emotion or will without hope.

Actually after i read your comment i watched it again and i have to say you are right ( the boy at the begining is the one from run boy run ). Tho the song itself leaves room for interpretation so there can be more than 1 meaning .

Mat Leconte I was thinking that the boy is the loss of innocence with him dying but it also represents his relationship that we see him describe in The Great escape and the death of the relationship in Boat Song and in the lyrics you hear him ask if we are just instruments of fate which leads to this song which I think is him giving up on life and on God. Thus the use of a priest. I'm just using the lyrics though but I do feel this song is more directed towards his loss of faith.

5 months ago I experienced a huge heartbreak.
After we started dating (I really do care about him at that moment), he stopped our relationship, apparently bc he wasn't ready for love. He broke up with me by sending me a text. He didn't want to see me to talk about it. Huge coward.
2 months after our breakup, he texted me because he "misses me a lot", not caring if I wasn't suffering. Then I realized he was only thinking about his own happiness and not mine.
He always had excuses to not see me to talk about that. ("I'm tired" "I have to work on things" "I'm a bit sick" "I don't want to" "I'm not in the mood"). At the beggining, I was protecting him. Not anymore. But the pain is still here.
This song was stuck in my head the entire day then. Even if it's not really a breakup song, but I think we can all read it in our way.
