    Finally someone who understands most people can't buy the big set of prismacolor pencils in the click of a finger and actually has the sense to show us you can do amazing things for a smaller price and a smaller amount of pencils

      +Jack Edgar What I suggest to you, and anyone else who is unable to afford a large set of prismacolors (I was in that boat until I got a job and was given birthday money and such and was able to gather up money) is get a 60 set of Crayola, as well as a 12 set of prismacolors. :) Or just the ones you'd need like light peach and black and white and a colourless blender. I used just crayola and the colours i listed for the longest time, and I did portraits that I did sell. Prismacolor are just super easy to blend, but it is manageable with crayola and a colourless blender :)

      blick's has super cheap prismacolor sets. I got 48 for $20

    • @Kaztronomical
      @Kaztronomical 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Shortninja66 but was that the scholar set? There's different types.

    • @Shortninja66
      @Shortninja66 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tiffany Lane Not sure exactly what the Scholar set is, is it just verithin colored pencils? I ordered the $20 48 set on Blick's and received the 48 pack in a tin box with a Strathmore sketchbook for free. These are definitely soft core.

    • @Kaztronomical
      @Kaztronomical 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shortninja66 Ah, I looked it up, it must be a currency difference. I'm in Canada, our prices aren't the same. But that's also the 48 pack. I got the 132 pack and it cost me over $100.

    I'm 63 years old ... I've been drawing since a toddler and using Prismacolors since the 80's ... After saying all that, I need to say, you have shown me tachniques that I never considered and have taught this "old dog" some wonderful new tricks. Thank you.

    We see all these top artists like Heather Rooney, Marcelo Berenghi and so on who like you have a gift from God for what you do, but not many do a thorough tutorial like this! Thank you so much for your hard work and I also like the fact that you added subtitles for the deaf people watching.. (I guess it is for them as you speak perfect English)....nice touch! I'm sure I speak for all your mortal fans when I beg you to do more videos like this. Just found you and subrcribed ☺

    Having watched countless tutorials about blending coloured pencils, this is a masterclass, at least for a beginner like me.
    I was wide-eyed with amazement that you could create such subtle skin tones with so few pencils.
    Whenever I get stuck in the future, this will be my 'go to' reference.
    Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to show us the fruits of countless hours practice.

    This is such a fantastic video! I learned so much from your video because you go step by step. What I love most about your video is that you include the colors you used to achieve the colors used in the drawing. Majority of artist don't do that which leaves newbies like me bewildered and confused lol. Hope to learn more from your videos.

      This is amazing! You're super talented! I'm also living in Leiden, but couldn't find prismacolor pencils here. My colleague just brought me the portrait set with 24 colors from US. But it is super difficult to start making colored portrait, don't even know how to start……

    • @LuisinaJuliete
      @LuisinaJuliete  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! Hope this video helps you, all the colors I used in this video is in your 24 set. I order the prismacolors online by the way because it's not in stores here in NL..

    • @XuemingLin
      @XuemingLin 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, not every color is in my 24 set, such as black, green... And I think I have no sense of colors. I don't know how to mix colors to create a new one. How did you do that? Did you just try it out? This is really difficult compared to graphite pencil drawing.

    • @LuisinaJuliete
      @LuisinaJuliete  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Xueming Lin They should be in the 24 set.. I checked on the prismacolor website: www.prismacolor.com/products/colored-pencils/softcore-lead. The 12 set makes the basic, that is in every bigger set after that. Just check the video, I explained everything on how to mix colors and find a match with the reference picture. You just have to try it out and keep practising

U did such a great job not only on the the portrait but on the delivery of explanation, the quality of video, the frames and closeness of drawing. I cant believe this was done all by you, not a professional film maker. This looks like something that could be in the prismacolor package as a video to watch at home for an additional price. OMG! Thank you so much for doing this tutorial! I just ordered the twelve pack and some white gel pens and went right on to this video. You actually make me feel not so bad about being cheap and not buying the 24 pack. Since I don't have enough allowance.

    This is one of the most inspiring tutorials ever on TH-cam. I would really like to try this out with these pencils because lately I've been having trouble making out skin tones. I'm so glad that these are the 12 set. At Jerry's Artarama, this set is only 11-12 dollars

    Luisina ; please always do this type of tutorial because we can actually learn something. those fast motion speed drawing or speed painting is so fast no one can learn anything. They don't communicate what is actually being done by the artist. please reconsider this new tutorial style for all your future tutorials so that we can really learn from you. A million thank-yous for taking the time to teach this tutorial. It is so worth it for us. All your hard work is really worth it. If I ever have anything worth making a tutorial ,I will do the same and pass it forward thank-you

    Echt super gedaan!

    I can't believe I just spent 48 minutes on a friday night watching this (do i need to get out more?!!)! It was so mesmerizing! I love that you used just 12 colors. I bought the 150 way before I should have! this is so less intimidating. Absolutely beautiful Luisina. so much work goes into making these comprehensive videos and I wish you all the success in the world (as I continue to learn from you!)

    This video is superb! Thank you for producing this style of video where you show what you are doing and why. Too many video are of the speed type where we find it hard to keep up and subsequently learn nothing or next to nothing. I have learnt so much from this video I would like to ask if you can keep this style and perhaps set the trend for others to follow suit. I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful work.
