  • This is a short video about the 1967 Camaro owned by the Tantardini family since the Early 70s.
    It's raced on the street and historic drag strips, including Lyons, in Southern California for it's whole life.
    Enjoy, as we share a little of this cars history.

Glad to see it's still around, put some time and money into it to bring it back to how it once looked. I also actually own OCIR's hanging Christmas tree, it's fully restored by me and functional with the Chrondek control box. Best of luck with your project.

    My first car I ever rode in as a baby from the hospital was my dads 1970 Chevy Nova. We drove all over in it, but since my car seat didn't fit in the back, my mom had to always sit in the back while I sat in the front in the car seat.
    My dad ended up selling it and getting a family car. Years and years later me and my mom tried finding it, had the vin and everything but nothing ever came up. We wanted to try finding it and buying it back for my dad. Since we never could find it I bought my own 1970 Chevy Nova to share with him. Me and him have spent a lot of time together working on it. Great memories have been made the last few years and hopefully years to come yet.

    Aaaaand that 's the was back in the day.....when street cruising was the coolest. There were all kinds of combinations of hot rod profiles.....some really clean...some a bit rougher but still good looking....some very eclectic and cool (like this Camaro)...and some that were junkers. But it all made for exciting Friday and Saturday nights! Americana at it's finest. Kids today can't begin to relate, except for some that actually get it.

L88 solid lifter cam, 12:1, Edelbrock Tarantula intake, 780 double pumper Holley, Hooker headers, 40lb flywheel, 3400lb Zoom clutch, M20 2.54 Muncie, Hurst Competition Plus, line lock, 12 bolt with Summers Brothers spool and axles and 5.13 Eaton pro gears, multileafs and slapper bars. This was my daily driver, my work car. The parts store/ speed shop I worked at loved it being parked out front drawing business. What a blast for an 18 year old. No, daddy didn't buy it for me. Daddy never bought any of his kids a car. What a blast, never got beat on the street. 1978 Tuscaloosa Alabama.

    Had 6 different Camaros through that era up to the 90's. Two were big block one with a 4 speed, one that I back halved with ladder bars and 14x32 Goodyears on a 9 inch with a blown small block. The blower car was a 67 RS and looked similar to this car except the rear wheel wells were cut out bigger for those 14x32 slicks, it was black and purple and the scoop disappeared when the hood got cut out for the blower. Those were definitely the good old days. 60's Camaros all around for a grand without the engine and trans.

    The end of the video gives me vivid memories of the low buck kids that would straight pipe to get an aggressive sound, stickers, remove their front shocks and punch the throttle at low speeds so the cars front would lift higher to give an appearance that 275hp was 500hp 😂. There WAS those tuner types back then too, I lived down the road from a few of them.

    Hey Bro... I'm glad to see your obviously into family traditions and all that , But can I just point one small detail out to you .. The ONLY reason dad didn't finish the body up and get it looking as good as it runs was because back then that was no easy feat to accomplish . I can assure you He didn't think driving the car around or taking it to the track where many fine drag cars were every weekend was what he enjoyed with the car not finished up ...I know because back then we were the same way . So you do Dad and the car ZERO justice keeping it looking like something you hide under a car cover out back behind the wood pile... Just saying bro....

    • @traditionovertrend2704
      @traditionovertrend2704  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thanks for the comment. The car was painted a couple times back in the day, the paint looks the way it does because it sat for 30 some years. At this point, the family is just driving the car, and working on other things. It will be painted eventually. It does more justice to the car and their Dad for it to be operational, and being used as it always was, than letting it sit around more, just because it isn't painted perfect.

      I'm the owner of the car, I just want to clear up because I don't think you understand the events with this car. My dad bought the car in 69 has street race it from day he bought it up till ocir closed when the car was parked, for the paint the my dad painted the car him self in 76 in a gold pearl root beer, and won awards for that paint job. The car will be painted when we have time but customers cars come first over personal cars.

    Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-(
    In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
    on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!!!
