Hmm, this reminds me a lot of Andrew Kramer's tutorial from 2009 - not to say it's almost identical. And there are techniques shown which still work, but the results are meanwhile easier and more detailed to achive. For example the trace method: if you want to work with the stroke effect and masks, than you can creat these masks now much easier - with the bonus that the masks will be named with the corsesponding letter: With the text-layer selected go to menu Layer>Create>Create Masks from Text. But instead of using the stroke-effect along with masks there is a much more elegant and adjustable way: shape layers. When Andrew Kramer made this tutorial shape layers didn't exist. But now you can turn every vector based layer into a shape layer - so it works for text layers, AI and EPS files. Just select the layer and choose from menu Layer>Create>Create Shapes from Text respectively Create Shapes from Vector Layer. I prefer this method because with shape layers you have much more control about the stroke, you have modifier to displace the path and with the Trim Path modifier you have even better control about the stroke animation. And as a big bonus you work still with vectors, so you have now problems with pixelation during high scale values. 🙂 Edit: One suggestion: if you still want to use the method with masks and stroke effct, than change the order of the masks so that the stroke-effect starts with the L. I think it looks better when each letter will be filled with the scribble after it's outline is finished. This is the second advantage by creating the masks by Layer>Create>Create Masks from Text. The masks are not just already named, they are also in the right order how you typed the text 🙂
Hi Peter, Thanks for your detailed explanation. Yes, fortunately these days there are a lot of method to do the same thing in After effects and you are right. it is much easier to use masks from text option. but everyone has it's own method to do one task.
Thank you so much for your tutorial! This is exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks for watching. I am glad you liked it.

Just not understand why we use mp4 line asset if we can create same line and animated with trim path
@@tiardev I used mp4 asset because I created before and it was ready. You can also use trim path to animate the line.
