"It only works for a simulated garment" marvelous designer error - fixed
in this video I am going to teach you how to fix "It only works for a simulated garment" error message when you want to use retarget draping option in marvelous designer. It appears because the garment is made with the older version of marvelous designer and in the older version we didn't have the retarget draping option and that is why we see this error message. fixing this error is very easy.
first you need to open the downloaded project and create a fitting suit for that avatar and simulate the garment on that avatar and save the garment again. after that you can easily apply the cloth to your custom avatar using retarget draping option without any problem.

I didn't catch your question. you mean how to make a custom metahuman head? please check out this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/LBSiP8WDnXE/w-d-xo.html if you are talking about how to attach head to metahuman, you don't have to in version 5.4.4 and above. it connects to body automatically without any afford.

      I don't recommend udraper because it is a paid plugin and I am not fan of paid solutions. Beside that, I installed that and I got weird errors. I contacted customer support but they have no answer for my question so I give it up.

    Great work, but curious why you applied Mesh-to-Metahuman on top of a CC 4 character? I understand this was needed in the past, but Reallusion's new UE plugins Auto Setup (which you showed) and CC control rig, both free, allow you to generate a full Metahuman rig on top of a CC4 character, wouldn't that have been easier?

      yes, you are right. we can use new UE plugin to convert cc4 characters to metahuman but they won't perform well yet when I am using metahuman animator. that's why I prefer to use metahuman original characters. here is the final result of this conversion: th-cam.com/video/9uvCSM8NKYY/w-d-xo.html&t

      Ah I see, that totally makes sense, so you want the higher fidelity for face MoCap that comes with Metahumans. Yes I agree that is lacking with other non-Metahuman characters, I think they just have the basic ARKit blend shapes that work with LiveLink, but not the detailed expressions that Metahumans and Animator support.

      Hi, I think you increased the "Radial Magnitude" and "directional magnitude" too much. decrease the numbers and it will fix your problem.

    hello. much appreciated tutorial. i have an issue with the weight painting section of my cloth. whenever i choose which area to weight paint and hit 'accept' it seems like my cloth doesnt register what i weight painted at all and doesnt even simulate cloth physics on the white areas. im confused as to why it isnt recognizing it at all, could it be my export settings from Marvelous? or something im missing inside UE5

      Hi, you are most welcome. I am glad it helps. when you export the garment from marvelous designer, did you check "include garment simulation date"? That will transfer the simulation data from MD to UE5. Also you need to assign the fabric on the right side in Marvelous designer. if you don't know how, please download a ready-made cloth from internet and dress it up to your character using this tutorial and use this method to export the cloth from Marvelous designer to Unreal engine. th-cam.com/video/bBGM5PVgPRI/w-d-xo.html

      you are welcome. I am glad it was helpful. that's due to LOD in unreal engine. have you heard about usage of LOD in unreal? you need to double click on the house and on the right look for LOD and set it to 1 and you will see the house without any problem.

      @@GorillaObureacts you are welcome. The only solution came to my mind in these situations is to hide the part of body mesh. There shouldn't be any problem when you simulate the cloth but I think it is the Unreal bug and I hope to be fixed in near future.

      Hey. thanks for watching. Actually I recorded another tutorial on how to simulate cloth using chaos cloth. this technique is available in unreal engine 5.4 and above. I like the chaos cloth method more. because it is more accurate in simulating and also you don't need to export the animation back and forth with Marvelous Designer. you can simulate the cloth directly inside unreal engine but there is some disadvantage for example in some situations you need to hide parts of body which I covered in this video: th-cam.com/video/gEFdGkMJ2Ro/w-d-xo.html

    Quick tip: select a block you want to edit, and press CTRL + L This will select this whole area and save you enormous time! Learned it the last day and figure i should pass the knowledge :) you can also then press ""p" to seperate from selection and save by body parts :)

      @@tiardev I used mp4 asset because I created before and it was ready. You can also use trim path to animate the line.

      @@MdAKZahin you can group shapes by pressing ctrl+G You should place each shape in a seperate layer. By pressing Ctrl C, copy it, make a new project and paste by Ctrl+v. For another shape you need to make a new layer ( in layer section click on + button to make a new layer) and in this way, place each shape in seperate layer, save it and import it in After Effects
