Beautiful green mossy ducky old England! Thanks for the calming video. When I was about 10 I had a pen-pal from Oldham. He seemed like nice kid and was very into the "Boys Brigade" and asked a lot about American football. Hope he's had a nice life!
What a beautiful hike! So much open countryside. And the history of the area and tunnel were fascinating. Especially liked that photo near the end of the stone commemorating the reopening by a relative of " the fastest legger " in 1914. 😆. And thank you again for all the miles added on by the camera shots of you hiking. That is a lot of extra work, but greatly appreciated. It brings us into the story with you and gives us a scale of all the terrain. You earned an extra large cup of tea after that hike! 👍
What a great hike and all the fantastic information! Thanks for all the research and work you do. I loved that you were on a small part of the Pennine Way we walked last year, great memories. And that rainbow was absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you for another great video. I have followed your adventures since last year on the PCT. I wish I had met you last year, you walked over our driveway when you left McArthur Burney Falls Park
@@MarysOutdoorAdventures Most of the trips just go a short way in and back out. The through trips only happen a few times a year, early booking needed I think. I was planning to take my own boat through a few years back but the tunnel is so low that my boat wouldn't fit. That's the case for quite a lot of boats.
Hello again Mary Mansfield. Again just wanted to say what a lovely video. I myself really enjoy a canal walk too. Well sadly can't think of anything else to say, apart from: A WONDERFUL, BRILLIANT, LOVELY. Video and walk. And really enjoyable to watch. Nice to see the class 185 Trans Pennine Express 6 carriage train fly by on the video too at the railway line at Marsdon before you had your lunch. 😊 As I keep saying my lovely, keep up the good work and hope to see you again soon for another great video. Your just like the new Juliet Bradbury, taking us on beautiful walks in the countryside.🙂 All the best from. Mike (Devon Boy)
Thank you sooo much. I had recently been marathon watching the canal boat trips and thinking I would love to see the walks along the canals. Then Mary's vlog popped up showing THE perfect canal walk. There is an example of demonstrating legging on Foxes Afloat #87 through Dudley canal.
I just got this sentence in my Welsh Duolingo lesson: "Mi ddaeth hi yma i fynd am dro ar hyd y gamlas." Meaning: "She came here to go for a walk along the canal." 😀 .
Very nice video. The canal looks too narrow in places. A very kool historic site to visit. I have to wonder how many workers from this canal came to the US to help with the Erie Canal. I have a similar Silva compass that I bought over 50 years ago. Good Luck, Rick
Thanks so much Richard. I read that there were a lot of Irish workers that helped build it but it wouldn't surprise me if there were those that built this one also went over too!
Good to see you again Mrs. Mary great video and you explaining it all ,still quite beautiful lady you are, I'm curious did you have hiking bug before pct cuz u got it now ,ok see you later my dear
Thanks so much David! I've always enjoyed hiking and being outdoors, but unfortunately I was a lot more limited with where I could hike due to chronic pain issues, so I used to try and stick to only flat routes. You are right about me having the bug now though!
So funny you should ask me that - I have just returned from a few days out doing landscape photography! It has taken a bit of a back seat recently due to focusing on videos/writing/blogging so I thought I would head out with my camera for a few days as I was missing it. I have been doing it on and off - just not had a lot of time to focus on organising and editing the photos, but it is on my list so I will post more to Instagram/Facebook/Patreon soon!
@@MarysOutdoorAdventures I asked because in your recent hikes you were in some incredibly photogenic areas. Even with fairly flat, daytime light they looked fantastic. I'll check your sites for updates.
Hiker and narrowboat dweller here. I used to moor my boat in Huddersfield so it's nice to see my old haunts...
Its a great canal!
This is lovely! I really love how you present the awesome English countryside. Very natural on camera and also mixed with beautiful shots
Thanks so much!
Mary, congratulations, over one million views for your youtube channel!
Wow, thank you so much Midwest 19!
All respect for the boatpeople that worked our wonderful waterways . Thank you Mary for showing us their world x
Glad you liked it - we will definitely hike the entire stretch together one day soon hopefully! x

Glad you enjoyed it John!
I live 3 miles from Oldham.
Mary, your videos are always so enriching. Wonderful scenes, glimpses into the past and many interesting shots from a solo effort. Thanks Tink'!
Glad you enjoy them Keith - thank you!
I love the canal boats. I watched a documentary about the canal and the boats.
Hey Mary . You're on my home turf today ! dark woods is just up the road to me and I walk the canal every day !
Hey Hester Dunlop! Such a lovely canal to live near.
What a glorious rainbow! 🌈. Thank you for your lovely videos. ♥️
You are so welcome!
That was an awesome shot of the bird taking that worm! A very splendid hike.
Thank you! I thought it strange he didn't fly away when I stopped - he wasn't losing that worm because of a pesky hiker that was for sure🤣
Thanks for sharing, like the history part as well
Glad you enjoyed it!
Greatly appreciate the research you put into these beautiful guided tours. The history is really quite interesting. Thank you!
So glad you like them!
I've seen the show with Tim West, and Prunella Scales where they travel through England on the canals. That would be such a fun way to see England.
I watched them too - such a great programme!
It's such a pleasure to watch your videos. I think you must be the most cheerful person on the planet.
Thank you Richard - that is a lovely thing to say 😀
I'm Korean. You look so happy that I feel happy too. I saw a good video.
Thank you!

I am so lucky I live in the area.

Nice video, Mary. The overcast, somewhat rainy day made it so that I can almost feel the nip in the fall air. Hike On!
Glad you enjoyed it Tom! The weather certainly is changing.
great video mate!
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for taking us along. I always have thought you would do great living in a narrow boat. I watch two on TH-cam minimalist and narrowboatchef
There is certainly something quite charming about them!
Thank you for another great video. I have followed your adventures since last year on the PCT. I wish I had met you last year, you walked over our driveway when you left McArthur Burney Falls Park
Thank you so much Mark - you live in a beautiful area!
There are various tunnel boat trips, including ones which go all the way through.
Thanks for the info I wasn't sure about if they went all the way through still!

Thank you so much Lynette! I've just watched the video and I have to say - they did a much better job of it than my impression🤣
C. S. Forester, in one of his Hornblower books, gave a description of "legging".
Great video with great information. Love your positivity Mary 😁
Thanks so much One Geordie and his Border Terrier adventures!
Great video! Doing this walk next week. Bugsworth/manch/sowerby/huddersfield/manch round trip in 5 days. Can’t wait. This guide helped !
I live in Ashton under lyne and I know the area well
Such a beautiful video and such a lovely lady.
Thank you.
So kind of you to say so Python Lee, thank you so much 😊

13:25 Higgledy-piggledy? I've never heard of that. I had to look it up. ( in disorder; in jumbled confusion)
What would we do without ducks.
We'd go quackers 🤣
