      Yes, the herring this time of year are large, so we use 2 1/4" monos for them. After xmas, we change to 2" nylons

    What make is your net hauler on your tactile

      I believe its a little netop hauler. Very hard to find that small, most are the 2 roller versions.

    I think you might be better with rod and line fishing, you might pick up something bigger. Will they be back when they have spawned?

      They normally thin out over xmas, then in Jan and feb, they are spent after spawning, and we only get around 20-30 stone a trip generally. Then March, the fish thicken up, and we can catch 150-200 stone virtually everyday. We normally limit the amount of nets we shoot. The last few years, the local trawlers have hit the herring hard in March, so they arent worth a great deal, so we stop fishing for them.

      Do you work static gear at all ?,a few late season soles or a few bass might make a trip.

      @@brettlittle9913 The weed is an issue here, you would fill up to the hilt with it. Its bad enough in the summer, but the winter is horrendous.
