Today I was drawing a fish in class, and one kid saw it. She said she had a huge tank on top of her fridge. I asked her how big it was. She said 10 gal. I asked her how many/what types of fish she had in there. She said three huge goldfish and one other fish from another tank. I thought about talking to her about it, but I felt kinda like a snob, so I didn't say anything. You don't know how many times I mentally face palmed. Comment if I should talk to her.
Depends on whether or not she's the kind of person who is actually open to learning. Some people are, and appreciate being given information to help them care better for their pets. Others? Not so much.
I'm a month late and don't know old you are but she could have just been crushing on you bro and trying to impress you, if not you should def teach her about proper fish care though lol
In the fish bowl hack they changed the fish probably because the goldfish died during filming. Just because a goldfish is genetically modified doesn't mean its like a jurassic Park dinosaur. Gold fish need atleast 40 gallons in my opinion since they poop alot and can increase ammonia alot.

(I am the spooky dad who made the tank for the 4th grade class) as a little update for it: i went with golden panda mollies, panda Cory cats, and a good sized school of zebra danios! The kids love them, and i got to give a whole talk about fish care when i brought the fish in :)

I live for these uploads, my bf has no interest in fish keeping but he knows your voice now I watch them so often lol. My goldfish Big bad Barry and Orangey had eggs recently and we managed to salvage about 50 that weren’t eaten and move them to a nursery. I’ve been looking after the fry like newborn children. They’re so tiny I have to do their water changes with a thin air line 🥹

There are a lot of metallic scales too like dad (Orangey) it’s crazy when I look back at their hatchling videos they were the size of a hair with 2 tiny dots for eyes 👀 x
about keeping betas and other fishes or shrimps with them the best idea is to have the shrimps/other fish in the tank first and add the beta later. improves alot the chances that they will not atack other fish/shrimps

I want to thank you for inspiring me to try owning fish again as a responsible fish owner. I tried in the past but put in minimal effort. Now I have a planted 5 gallon with a very happy Betta and a very happy Mystery Snail. :) The Betta just celebrated her 2nd birthday with us. Girl let’s me pet her and everything.

On the other hand, you can buy a 5 gallon tank with a filter and light for 30 bucks, a heater for 12, water conditioner for 5, and safestart with fish food is like 8 bucks. It's more complicated than bowl with water, but it's not rocket science either.

I tried to do the carpet plants with the dry planting method... I added water and when I started to cycle the tank they immediately died, they began to pollute the water with ammonia, thus leading to my anubias dying, stinking up my entire room and forcing me to throw everything away and restart. IDK if it's just the seeds I bought were from amazon or what but I definitely did something wrong to kill all those plants. damn, I wish I knew what it was though.
I know this comment was made awhile ago, but do you remember anything about the seeds you purchased? I recently got some seeds but haven't haven't planted them yet, I'm worried they may be from the same people and that maybe I should be extra cautious with them! I got them for $11 and was supposed to come with 3 packs of seeds, one long hair grass, one short hair grass, and one leafy grass, but it only came with the long hair grass and two of the leafy grass.
@@nathanielw8704 sorry about this, but the seeds were fine and the downfall of my project was my fault. The rock killed some of the grass which increased the ammonia which ultimately killed everything. So it wasnt the seeds problem haha

I have had around 3 bettas over 8 years or so and none of them hunted down my shrimp xD I also added some shrimps to my parrot fish tank , turns out they bred twice as fast there and ride on him xD . Strange but hey I aint complaining!
If I rocked up at a wedding that did that BS with goldfish in bowls, I'd immediately leave to go buy a big tub/bucket and water conditioner, return to rescue the fish, curse out the newly weds, then leave to provide my new 75 fish with better care/rehoming. Holy crap ppl suck.

Hey guys, how do you deal with brown algea? I've been dealing with it ever since i got my tank setup almost a year ago. It was better for a while (honestly dont know how) but it's been worse again after someone else took care of my betta for 2 weeks while i was on holiday.
I dont have access to any water tests and there are no fish stores nearby. Ordering the tests online is super expensive so i'd like to avoid that too if i can 😕
I have the same problem except my testkit shows 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 0 nitrate despite being set up for a good few months. It went away after I start fertilizing the tank to help the plants compete against the algae.

That’s a pretty good amount of fish for that size 😊 just make sure you’re testing the water and doing regular water changes to keep nitrates low for them

I love fall, this color change and cool down is great. We just had 80+ °F days last week and we're finally down to 70s

make sure to control your lighting hours and nutrients! 8 hours a day of light maximum, put it on a timer!
