Ok wow, this.. seriously looks like it could be a long lost insomniac spyro game. every little detail just so perfectly fits in with the original trilogy's feel while also being fresh and new! the music, the skyboxes, the area design.. man, if only a team like this had gotten the rights to spyro handed over to them by insomniac in the first place!

I am feeling comfortable whenever I m listenning to the water sound when you re swimmimg because it s technically identical to the original spyro games

the fps are extermely fast so I recommand you to decrease the speed to discarding from that critical problem and I m pretty sure That it would become litterally a masterpiece.Keep going,you are graceful guys,I m entirely proud of your efforts and potentiels that you ve performed to make that goodness!

This looks really, really good! Congrats!
- The camera has too much whiplash you dash and turn, the lerp was a bit slower/mellow in the original games to reduce motion sickness and look less jittery.
- Not enough pitch lerp or too few frames of delay between dash jumps, seen at 5:11. Either the lerp was slightly slower or they had 2-3 frames more before the next jump activated so that Spyro wouldn't jitter between jumps. Here, the pitch fluctuates at least 40-50 degrees in the matter of a frame or two, which creates an unnatural motion!
- The camera has a tendency to veer off to the side. It can be seen at 5:26. Notice by the point Spyro hovers, the camera is positioned awkwardly to the side. I haven't studied it, but I reckon the camera in Spyro always had an aggressive azimuth lerp to avoid this, it is the angle which didn't follow when you were in passive camera mode. It happens quite oddly as well at 4:57 and a number of times throughout this showcase.
- You shouldn't be able to go into that cautious fly stopping so quickly (4:57). In the original game, you held back and it took about a second before activating you first start to decelerate. Forward momentum was also slowed down quite a bit more than what his shown here.
- The fly animation is lacking dynamism (seen at 3:32)
- The hover at 3:35 happens too suddenly. Spyro should lift up a little slower.
- The spot shadow under Spyro should be quite a bit darker. Also, not sure if this is the case atm, but the spot shadow in Spyro is actually an animated mesh with vertex color, and it is in sync with Spyro's animations. I can understand not wanting to work on that just now as that is a very subtle detail, just mentioning in case you didn't know.
- 2:17 I see an egregious bit of mechanic that should not happen, you are cancelling hovers with dashing.
- The gravity in general is too strong, and Spyro rises too quickly when he jumps.
- When Spyro lands (excerpt at 2:50) the transition from jump to idle/walk animations is slightly too slow. Furthermore, I have found through frame-by-frame studying of Spyro 2 that the transition is almost instantaneous when transitioning from 'jump to walk' but not for 'jump to idle'. Take a look at these clips:

- Spyro looks too lightweight in general. This isn't because the gravity is too light (in fact it's rather too strong atm). Little lesson on conveying weight better: More gravity isn't the way to convey weight and mass better. This feeling of weight rather is conveyed in the timing of animations and how velocity is gained and lost. For example, when a heavy bowling ball is rolling forward, you could blow on it and it will obviously not bulge from its path. If I'm making a game where the player controls a heavy bowling ball with the joystick, if the bowling ball stops as soon as I let go of the joystick and it starts moving at full speed as soon as I push the joystick forward, it will feel like it's made of cardboard. Similarly, if the ball has to gain speed the more I hold down the joystick and then it keeps rolling after I let go of the joystick, and I even have to counter the velocity by pushing the joystick in the opposite direction to slow down my movement faster, then the ball will feel very heavy. In other words, the appearance of weight and mass is relative and it's only an illusion, it doesn't exist. Because we aren't using a hacky physics engine here which has accurate calculations which replicates these illusions from the real word, you have to fake this feeling of weight by slowing down and adding delays yourself. Things need to move slowly sometime, and you have to deliberately program this stuff. It's like a blind spot you have to become aware of. When you write code for a new movement state, you aren't just creating one state, you are also creating several transitional states which aren't apparent at first. This is something that took a long time for me to get when I was starting out in game programming, and you sort of realize it with experience. If you're moving at max speed and transitions happen too suddenly, it will not feel like the character has sufficient weight. (note: not to be confused with 'floatiness' which pertains more to the amplitude of movements rather than their transitions) Reviewing a lot of the points above will do a lot already for his weight.
Indeed, when the player character is TOO agile without any drawbacks or enough delay or transition frames, it doesn't feel satisfying to master the controls because there isn't much to master in the first place! It feels better to master a character that has a feeling of weight in the world than a character who doesn't. (although not always, which is why we gotta aim for a balance between realistic and unrealistic)

Seriously just getting better and better and better, i love that the center thingy with the boss portal inside is now more arched, looks really nice, also i notice the music is back to the older track? is it staying like that now? or are you making another new track for the homeworld? personally i really like this one how it is.
The new track will most likely get used for a realm, and the old original track (the one featured in this video) is going to get updated and be used instead.

I had to remind myself this wasn't the original engine or Insomniac games a few times there. Clearly some work still left to be done, but this is already a crazy good job of replicating the feel of the original games.
Gem magnetism is perfect. Spring Savannah could use work there.
But other than that Spyro needs to be a bit more smooth. He clearly controls well, but rotations are very choppy when changing direction and this could be smoothed out more. Very responsive looking though. Looking close to the real thing, especially the charge camera. Spot on.

Yeah, it's a recent issue that seems to have something to do with the pause menu in a way (since it now calls the counters down onto the screen, and it only just began happening after that was done).

The updated version of this track is better and fits the Spyro sound more but I really like the more stripped down chilled out version in this video. You should use both versions of the track if possible, or at the very least upload this version by itself somewhere online if you aren't planning on using it.

I kinda wish you'd take your time wandering around a little more instead of just rushing around past everything. I'd like to see more of it, but everything I wanted to look at just flew right by. It's like you're in a rush to get the video over with.
I do love the look of this hub world though. The soundtrack is super nice, and the map is well laid out from what I saw.

At the moment, we'd prefer to keep the ideas coming from internal sources only. But those do sound neat!
I saw this when it was basic shapes in a level. This is real dedication! Question, will this be playable in 1920x1080 or something similar? Or 1440x1080 to keep the same ratio as 800x600 from the old games
I know I couldn’t have been the only person watching the video saying “whoa” and “wow” at every little new thing, because like holy shit. Everything is looking so clean, and I had a little squeal of giddiness when I saw the Sparx sign for a Sparx level, and I absolutely LOVE the headbash animation, amazing work!!!

Spyro: Myths Awaken is a fan game being developed by myself and 5 others. It's not available to play yet, outside of the Holiday Adventure demo that was released in December.

You've done a great job but the wings on spyro look weird .With different colours than the original and the shape is different as well.
It doesn't need to be exactly 1 to 1 the same as the original games.
I know it doesn't, it's not like the end of the world will happen but I'm just giving him creative criticism.
His wings in this game are bigger and the animations are changed in a lot of ways.
