@@orlanzo2621 its like mega man X because you pick stages , look for upgrades, ride a motorcycle and gain powerups from the bosses like in Mega Man X. But it looks like Hagane and plays like a mix of Hagane and Shinobi
This is very similar to Onikin, even borrowing some of the level mechanics; however, it looks like a lot of fun. Everything Joymasher has put out has been incredible. I recommend checking out Odallus if you get a chance.
"Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider is an incredibly difficult game..." Thank you for this. Saved me some money. It looked good but was wondering of it followed the modern trend of sadomasocistic developers.
So I’ve played all the other JoyMasher games (loved them all), and they ARE hard. I’m personally not a good game player, but if you try hard enough, you can get though JoyMasher games. That being said, this is not a hard game. I just beat it, and it’s about as hard as Mega Man X4. It’s extremely accessible; the most accessible of all their games so far.
@@GenyaArikado Really? That game was fine. Why in the world would he warn the game is hard? I couldn't beat Blazing Chrome final boss so I figured he was right.
@@level9drow856 yeah I’m actually not too sure why he said it was so hard. That being said, I can’t stand when people comment, “this game isn’t hard at ALL,” when in fact it’s just because they’re super good at beating hard video games LOL. This is definitely not the case with my comment, though. I struggled very hard with beating Oniken and Oddalus (two of their other games), but by sheer will was able to knock those out (they are seriously amazing games). But with Moonrider, it was probably half as hard as Oniken. Most bosses I beat on only the first or second try. Trust me, difficulty is not going to be an issue for you. It’s a great game and more meant to be enjoyed versus conquered, if that makes any sense.
Graphically maybe, but the gameplay is much more like "Shinobi 3"(the different attacks and controls) and "Megaman X"(level select and getting new powers from beating bosses).
I bought the game. Im a huge fan of 2d ninja action platformers so i had to support the game. So far I'm digging it but I've already encountered a couple glitches. One glitch broke a boss and i had to reset the stage
@@187Wretched Saw the CRT on Sonic, not that impress. Haven't seen the one on Tears of The Earth but Retroarch has some very good ones. The best one I've seen/used is HLSL on MAME.

I see many close resemblances to Hagane (SNES) Megaman X or MMZero series & Contra Hard Corps (Genesis/MD) Hagane in terms of visual theme and gameplay, Megaman for the stage select and power system, and Hard Corps for the dystopian future theme and muted visual style.
This game is super awesome it's a little upsetting that it's not coming to Xbox for a while. it's just a head-scratcher because we got all of other Joymasher's games on Xbox.
@@mickael486 well most of the other games on Xbox as well and I guarantee you this. This game would come to Xbox game pass it will blow up like crazy. Blazing Chrome was on Game Pass and if anomaly well
I didn't find this game particularly difficult, I think someone somewhat familiar with side scrolling action should find the difficulty fairly reasonable. Much easier than Cyber Shadow imho.
Look at the footage in this review. Whoever's playing is awful, taking 1 hit for every 2-3 he lands is a terrible ratio for a game like this. You want to barely get hit at all by playing both smart and aggressive at once
I think it would have been okay, to simply call it "Moonrider" in the voice over for sanitys sake, after saying the full name out loud once :) thanks for the review.

I like a good pixel art game when it’s done right but it seems like it’s being way over done lately. A lot of these games is going to be over looked because people might get tired of seeing this art style.
Yeah I'd say it's just because it's getting easier for one person, of a small group, to create a game. I feel like we outgrew these games but there's a couple I find interesting, like that JRPG that recently released.
The issue is that all the games of this style only take the SAME games for inspiration: Contra (1, 3), Castlevania (1, SoTN), Metroid (1, Super), etc. Even in the 16-bit era games of the same genre looked completely different between each other. Sonic and Mario had completely different looks, Art of Fighting vs Street Fighter, Turtles in Time vs Final Fight...and we can keep on going. They only seem to reuse assets rather than creating something unique, it's not surprising that Shovel Knight did stand out as much as it did. Sure mixed tons of games, but their own unique character designs gave the knight a place within the industry.
Speak for yourself. I am not tired of seeing this art style, I hope for more. I'm tired of 3d open world games but I would not assume people are tired of that type of game...
Cannot wait to play this. I have been waiting for years for this to release. Buying on the steam deck as soon as I get home.

Pretty cool throwback. Like it, except for the crappy CRT filter. Are filters that expansive or difficult to put in a pixel art game??
Sonic Mania has a pretty good CRT filter and I recently played a game called Astalon: Tears Of The Earth which had some decent ones too
